Government Pays $60,000 per Poor Family to Keep them Voting for Liberals

How is it possible that $60,000 is spent on each welfare family and yet Liberals are crying for even more money? The total payments amount to $1 trillion. There’s a layer of bureaucracy that exists between the $1 trillion dollars and the welfare recipients:

“According to the Census’s American Community Survey, the number of households with incomes below the poverty line in 2011 was 16,807,795. . . . If you divide total federal and state spending by the number of households with incomes below the poverty line, the average spending per household in poverty was $61,194 in 2011.”

“This dollar figure is almost three times the amount the average household on poverty lives on per year. ‘If the spending on these programs were converted into cash, and distributed exclusively to the nation’s households below the poverty line, this cash amount would be over 2.5 times the federal poverty threshold for a family of four, which in 2011 was $22,350. . . .”

The amount spent keeps increasing, and we keep getting more poverty-stricken families. You get more of what you subsidize. This is exactly the results Liberals were planning on – an increased dependent class of voters that will keep them in office.

The goal has never been to decrease the number of poor families.

Once a welfare program is made law, there are always people who take advantage of it. Consider what’s happening with disability claims.

The number of American workers collecting federal disability insurance benefits hit yet another record high in October, according to the Social Security Administration.

This month 8,803,335 disabled workers are collecting benefits, up from the previous record of 8,786,049 set in September.

This is an increase of 1,334,095 since Obama took office. That works out to a net increase of about 29,646 per month (1,334,095 divided by 45 months), or an average increase of about 975 per day (1,334,095 divided by 1,369 days).

The continued increase of disability claims isn’t only an Obama phenomenon. There has been a steady increase in claims ever sense the program was instituted. People are taking advantage of the system because they can.

Why would any appreciable percentage of these people ever vote for a political candidate that wants to cut the budget and shrink the welfare state? Once their self-interest kicks in, they will vote for the guy or gal who promises to keep the checks coming.

The way to decrease disability claims and welfare is to free-up the economy. Can you imagine what would happen if the $1 trillion dollars spent on welfare were left in the pockets of tax payers? They would spend more, save more, and invest more. The economy would boom. The truly needy could be taken care by voluntary organizations.

The goal should be to wean the impoverished off the teat of the welfare state.

I am retired and when I was working I never made more than 22,500 dollars a year — my family and I lived within our income — we did not receive any taxpayer funded programs (money) — if we can live on a budget and within our income why must people on welfare receive 60,000 dollars a year — that is democrat party slavery

    • dclcdiana

The writer of this article seems to intentionally mislead people. Where is the proof outlined in his article that individuals received $60,000 checks to vote? I sure as heck didn’t get one. I want one.

Half, if not more are lazy takers.. The whole system is broken. The real kicker is all the illegals on welfare,Social Security and Medicaid. That pisses Americans off big time. It’s time to cut the crap spending and give back to American workers. The ones who truly have no recourse, I don’t mind doing my part and helping. The users, losers and illegals take a.hike!

THE POOR GET 20,000 A YEAR, AND THE BUREAUCRATS GET 40,000 BUCKS EACH IN THE MIDDLE…. DON’T FORGET THOSE ARE DUMBO CRAP VOTERS TOO….

This is disgusting.. just disgusting.. nothing like buying votes.. and these poor stupid people don’t seem to know any better or are so desperate that they do not realize that if someone new is elected they will lose all this because it is money we do not have. Obama has fooled a lot of people because they are just too dumb to think for themsleves. Makes me sick!

  • marys1000

When Obama took office, the Democrats already had majority vote in the House and Senate but did not stop the tax breaks for the wealthy, oil subsidies or war funding, nor did they give the amnesty they promised but had 2 full years to do it. So if you think they are going to do what they say, don’t be fooled again!!

I done even own a phone and Welfare gets a phone. All paid for.

    And I quote:

“the number of households with incomes below the poverty line in 2011 was 16,807,795. . . . If you divide total federal and state spending by the number of households with incomes below the poverty line”

    Can you say “confirmation bias”?

Not a single one of you were able to see past your own fear and hatred to the obvious deception here?

The key phrase is “total federal and state spending” in 2012 only 12% of “total federal and state spending” went towards any form of welfare “http://www.usgovernmentspending.com/piechart_2012_US_total.

The bald-faced LIE of $60K spent per impoverished family is in reality 12% of that figure — a much more reasonable $7200. Facts and reality really suck when trying to rationalize being a republican.

    • chachi

Wow nobody can refute this. Must be true.

  • pyrope

Mr. Romney should not tout creating 12,000,000 new jobs if he’s elected; the 47% who are living off you and me don’t want jobs–hell, jobs are the LAST thing they want!

  • thismustend

Not sure where they got these #s but a disabled adult on SSI makes $698 a month, that is the largest amount they can get, it is much less in some states. The most a disabled couple on SSi can make is $1048. Not sure what the Temporary Assistance to needy Families pays but it sure as he ll isn’t $60,000 a year. Dental, glasses & physical therapy have been CUT for the disabled in WA. State, however there is a multi million$$ medical facility in Yakima just for migrant workers/ILLEGALS. Also pregnant women get full dental care.
The REAL poor are WAY worse off under ObaMAO. The less there is to divide the less there is to receive. ObaMAO has given his welfare $$ to the middle class so as to get THEM hooked on government too & those who really can’t work are truly scre wed.

How about this stat? The 5 trillion dollars that Obama added to the national debt is equal to 5 million millions of dollars. If that money were used to actually purchase new homes, it would equal 25 million new homes of $200,000 each — with no outstanding mortgage. The average home value is about $181,000 so it would also pay for new furniture. Since there are about 115 million households in the USA, about 1 in 4 households would have received a new home plus furniture with the money spent by Obama.

Just think, in only four years Obama borrowed and spent the equivalent of free new homes plus furniture for 25 percent of the households in the US. But not only are these new homes non-existent, we must still pay for them as though they did exist. Actually, your children and grandchildren will have to pay when it comes time. They just don’t know it yet.

Obama recently joked in a talk-show interview that he has topped out in math at the 7th grade level when his daughter asks him for help with a math problem.

4 more years of Obamanomics? God help us.

To start off the number of families below the poverty line is not a good multiplier number because I am WAY below that poverty line number and I DO NOT get any kind of assistance! Don’t you people see that this article is mostly about hate and dividing us?

  • Mr Libra

This is a hostile hate publication meant to make trouble. I am living on $600.00 dollars a month disabilty income. I have a mind of my own and make my own choices on who I vote for. I also understand that both party’s are screwed up big time. Obama is turning America’s long time friends and Allies against us. Romney seems to be the lesser of two evils. My father fought in WWII. One thing he told me will always stick in my mind. “A person who tells you what they tink and feel is someone you can understand because you can unnerstand where they are coming from. Because they tell you the truth. People who don’t talk about what they think and feel are hiding things from you. Do not trust people like that. Obama is hiding a lot of things from Americans. Who ever wrote this is trying to turn healthy Americans against injured and disabilied people who have little if any way to protect themselves. The person who wrote is not helping any one or thing but his own personal gainest at the expense of mostly defenseless people. I would say do not trust this Republican. I don’t thing he is a Christian man. Christians don’t spread hate about people the way this man does.

I agree with your post Mr. Libra. This post does make it appear that people who get welfare are receiving $60,000.00 per household and it sounds as if those households get that money in return for votes. Then the writer try’s to prejudice readers from those who are disabled and then from those who are unemployed. Apparently this is a most liberal author who wants to try to make people believe that this current president has single handidly created every sort of negative social theft that one might imagine. The author does not appear to be as much against this president or this administration however as does the author try to make it appear that any and all Government assistance is exactly the same . All bad . All done by those who are taking from the Government. It isn’t a good article but recently I have noted some well known talk show host saying similar things about disabled and unemployed. Linking them all in one narrow pile box.

      • Mr Libra

Runnindeer, thank you for your message/reply to me. If you don’t mind I would like to add a couple of things to what I said to paint a better picture.
During WWII the Nazis followed a simple idea. When you tell a lie make it a very big lie. the bigger it is, the more folks will believe it. Also the entire idea must be about people no one knows or relates to. The bigger the lie is will affect peoples negative emotions.
The definition of insanity is simple. Some one who keeps doing the same thing over and over again. but expects differant out comes is not sane.
The person who wrote this may even chose to believe his own lies. Its all about trying to develope a sense of power over some one that no one else has any real sense of connection with. In this case it’s kicking the behind of disablied people that no one really wants to have anything to do with. They can cover up their sense of negative emotional feeling by getting rid of disabiled people.
The church is suppose to take care of diisabiled people. but only does so in a limited way with limited means. So the goverment steps into do what others do not.

        • runnindeer

Yes, I watch and read about the Nazi’s on the History channel and the Military channel and from History in school and from hearing my uncles and Dad talk about WW2. I recognize some of the signs in society now. I also have a friend who is a Holocaust survivor.

  • Mr Libra

Sorry about misspelling. I’m a little upset about this mans narrow mindedness. People like this guy will do any thing to someone else for his own personal gain. And pat himself on the back for doing bad things to others. Sounds a little bit like a NAZI to me.

  • dclcdiana

Your article “title” is misleading and your thinking is wrong.

  • dclcdiana

From reading your article I thought that the government had actually sent individuals $60,000.00 in a check. Why would you intentionally write a misleading article?

  • Mr Libra

I will probly get negative fee back. But I am making a point. Not every one fits into the negative extremes of being made into.victims for someones else ambitions. How much of this kind of hatefulness will it take before disabilied people are going to hurt by others. Worst case would be what the Arabs do to people that do not live by their faith. Or maybe What the Nazis did to Jews. Because of their faith. The problem is dishonest people taking advantage of a system meant help those that really do need help. Making this into a political issue is wrong. Its grasping at straws to pull some out of deep water. Go after the dishonest people in Gov’.

  • Mr Libra

Runnindeer You have a firm grip on the idea that the best education is the one you provide for yourself. Adding that to the concepts of Time, Place and Perspective adds ability to understand what is going on. Putting things into the Time they happened and the Place in time they in happened. Is the only way you can gain enough prospective to really try to understand them. The internet puts things where we can find them and return to them when we need to..But I’m sorry to say that it has replaced History Books in some ways. I have a personal library of several hundered books. My sons see no use or need for them. Because of the internet. What I am saying is try and get hard copies of the information if you can. Then you have referances to work with.
I glad some one is not going to let others lead them along with negative and out of control emotional state that will only hurt those want to believe them. in the long run, Knowledge is power. Its something you can not lose, unless you let someone mess it up with lies and half truths.
It’s good that you have people around you that provide a decent support system. They can provide a sense of objectivity when you need it.
Sorry for any misspelling or poorly written statements. But my eyes have been going bad for some time now.
