Daughter Regrets Leaving Gun in Car after Parents Murdered

The Luby’s restaurant massacre took place on October 16, 1991, in Killeen, Texas. George Hennard drove his pickup truck into the cafeteria and shot 23 people to death while wounding another 20, subsequently committing suicide by shooting himself. Because of a Texas gun law at that time, citizens were not permitted to carry a weapon in public places. As is always the case, people who want to commit a crime don’t care about laws:

“Responding to the massacre [at the Luby’s cafeteria], the Texas Legislature in 1995 passed a shall-issue gun law, which requires that all qualifying applicants be issued a Concealed Handgun License. . . .

“The law had been campaigned for by Dr. Suzanna Hupp, who was present at the massacre where both of her parents were shot and killed. She later expressed regret for obeying the law by leaving her firearm in her car rather than keeping it on her person due to the fact that it could have cost her chiropractic license.

“She testified across the country in support of concealed handgun laws, and was elected to the Texas House of Representatives in 1996. The law was signed by then-Governor George W. Bush.”

Since guns laws and places where guns can be carried have restricted law-abiding citizens from having a way to bring down a criminal with a gun, murders like the one that happened in Killeen, Texas, have increased.

I suspect that some lone shooter or group of terrorists will think twice about going on the campus of a school where it is known that people are armed. These types of shooters are cowards. They go after the defenseless.

Nidal Malik Hasan killed 13 people on a military base. Thirty others, including the shooter, were wounded and required hospitalization. As a matter of practice, Fort Hood personnel do not carry weapons on the base. Military weapons are only used for training or by base security, and personal weapons must be kept locked away by the provost marshal.

You know Hasan knew this. Do you think he would have tried to kill the military “infidels” if the base personnel had been carrying weapons? Not a chance.

It only stands to reason that citizens should be armed where there are known targets of gun violence. Consider this report from The Weekly Standard:

“David Gregory mocked the NRA's Wayne LaPierre for proposing that armed guards be at every school in America. But the NBC host seems to have no problem with armed guards protecting his kids everyday where they attend school in Washington, D.C.”

“The Gregory children go to school with the children of President Barack Obama, according to the Washington Post. That school is the co-ed Quaker school Sidwell Friends.

“According to a scan of the school's online faculty-staff directory, Sidwell has a security department made up of at least 11 people. Many of those are police officers, who are presumably armed.”

Typical liberal hypocrisy; protection for me but not for thee.

The author has it wrong ,William Jefferson Clinton passed a law that no personal fire arms are allowed on military property and military weapontry would be locked up at all times unless being used in specified areas for specified reasons . Obama calls this a jobsite shooting .

Get guest made a clear.concise and corrective argument based entirely on FACTS!
She even corrected the host on her blatant misrepresentations that she was factually incorrect about. She did the entire interview with grace and by citing indisputable facts the host could not argue, yet cited other liberal wackjobs incorrect statements for her source of what others "SAY"
To this the Host said : "Thank you for YOUR 'PERSPECTIVE'"

PS- What the helll ever happened to a good ol' Concussion grenade? A CG would be capable of incapacitating a rogue criminal in an instant, and the ability to subdue them. THIS with minimal risk to even the most vulnerable hostage.
That we don't even consider the obvious tells you the amount of media manipulation on behalf of the leftwing loons
Aside- Is their not 1 among these "Guardians" willing to pick up an end table or chair and charge these assailants from a logical angle. Particularly while children make way to safety. WHAT- What sick society of weaklings have we become? At least heave the chair at the guy. Anything to distract so someone else might get a charge in. This may be the greater issue. Weak.

This reporter is not "clueless-" she knows exactly what she's doing. Unfortunately for her, she was up against an articulate and knowledgeable promoter of gun rights; even so, Hupp wasn't able to get the whole story out; she needed to make it clear that the National Firearms Act of 1934 sharply restricted (but didn't entirely ban) possession and transfer of automatic weapons. This reporter, and others like her, will go to all lengths to prevent the truth from reaching very many people.

... and lurking behind ALL of the toxic, "progressive" anti-gun rhetoric is a huge "elephant" in the room that progressive's pretend is not there: They want to disarm the harmless to protect the harmless! Somehow, they conveniently overlook a very inconvenient question: WHO WILL DO THE ENFORCING? Where on Earth can we find a group of fallible, corruptible humans who can be trusted with exclusive access to firearms?. When all this is boiled down to it's essence, we discover a fundamental, objectively moral fact: Even if 99% of all the private gun owners on earth suddenly went postal and started killing everyone in sight, we could STILL not justify denying or unduly encumbering the natural RIGHT of gun ownership to the remaining 1% who had harmed no one -- PERIOD!
    Comments? Disagree?

Just FYI folks, there was an armed guard at Columbine, and Virginia Tech has their own SWAT-like team with armed security in the building of the shooting. Statistically, its really no more safe to have armed guards in the schools-obviously didn't work at Columbine.
