Time to Officially Rename the Republican Party

There has been a great deal of talk lately about the Republican Party’s inability to make an appealing case for their policies. Worries abound that the Republican Party is on the precipice of extinction.

The solution that the Democrats would have the Republicans apply to remedy this problem is for the Republicans to change their views to match those of the Democrats; that way, the Democrats will no longer have any opposition and they could enjoy tyrannical one-party rule.

That is obviously the wrong solution.

What could work, however, is a name-change. The average liberal’s mind does not usually think beyond the superficial. To wit:

One liberal wrote to me to tell me to look up the definition of liberalism. “It is for liberty and equality,” he said, “so in being against liberals, wouldn’t you be against liberty and equality?”

What he embarrassingly failed to realize, as I told him, was that while the word “liberalism” stems from “liberty,” it is the opposite of what today’s liberalism is about. He did not look any further than the name. Likewise, I replied to him, “Just because they give themselves the name ‘Progressive’ does not mean they are progressive in any true sense. They are regressive. I can say I’m part of the Holy Party, but that does not make me holy.”

I think if it were not for the obsession with all things homosexual that today’s young people have, the only other reason they would vote for Democrats is because Democrats call themselves liberal and progressive, and these sound like “liberty” and “progress.” And how can you be against liberty? How can you be against progress by voting against progressives?

If Republicans do go the way of the Whigs, they would have to come up with a new name to appeal to today’s voters. My suggestion?

The Civil Rights Party.

Besides the word “racist,” there is not so amorphous and malleable a term as “civil rights.” Young people love the idea of civil rights, applying that term to mean anything they want it to mean. If they want men to marry men, it is a civil right. If they want condoms, it is their civil right to force others to buy them for them.

But the Civil Rights Party as a rebranding of the Republican Party would not be a misnomer. After all, who freed the slaves? Republicans. Without what party would the Civil Rights Act and Voting Rights Act not have passed? Republicans. What party is the party of equality among races, opposing affirmative-action laws, which favor some races over others? Republicans. What party is the party of equality under the tax laws, favoring everybody in America contributing to the country an equal percentage, a true fair share? Republicans. If these Republican policies are not civil rights, what is?

The Republicans have a nearly impossible task ahead of them in battling a corrupt media that, deadset on disbanding and destroying them, have attached a searing stigma to the mere label “Republican.” So let’s save ourselves any further battle wounds, cut to the chase, rename ourselves the Civil Rights Party, and let’s see just how eager will be the liberals and their friends in the media to denounce us then.

I enjoyed reading this POST. I think it is
much more complicated than a new name but I agree that the Republican
Party is in the middle of an identity crisis. (Which I believe is the true
theme of your statement) The problem is that they simply don’t know how to
spread their message. The Republican elite always think that the way to go is to
be more moderate – they never seem to understand that people need clearly
defined options in order to make a choice. Something that is virtually
impossible anyway with 90% of the media in one camp. I think that conservatives
have a huge task in front of us and it’s not going to be the politicians that
will put this country back on track, it will be its everyday citizens.

I feel that the biggest hurdle for the republicans is coming together to show one face to everyone.I like Romney but I think he tried toi be something for everyone. While being truthful hurt him badly.Rep. need to get a message out that keeps our values and stops the pres. from blaming us for standing up to his spending and tyranny. We could do a lot if we fight him as one body instead of twenty different ones. Look how the dems stick together even when they know they are wrong or even when ying. One lies and all the others swear to it.

      • Patriot

We need to forget the political correctness BS that Romney seemed to suffer from. He had tons of ammo to use against the Arab Muslim and yet refused to use any of it. He pulled a McCain and suffered the same consequences.

        • http://www.facebook.com/people/Rhonda-Reichel/1339255666 Rhonda Reichel

He could have crucified Obama on the economy and policies except for one reason only….he agreed about 85% WITH OBAMA on policy
          eg. 3rd debate

        • http://www.facebook.com/junior.bennett.18 Junior Bennett

Romney had every thing going for him, a business background and successful with about every task he took on. He was more qualified then any one that ran for president in many years.. The problem, he told the truth about what need to happen in our country to fix the problen, and he let the american people know the days of collecting free stuff was going to be some big changes and of course free loaders don,t want to hear that, they want their free candy, therefore they voted for the unqualified to return to office for the next four years. I hope the senate and house members hold Obama feet to the fire and turn our country around, the american people deserve no less, the president must put country first and I am not seeing it at his time. Some body behind the dark wall are pulling the president,s strings, because we know he is not very smart or he would not hide his records. A good speaker he is, a good president he is not!!!!!!!!Semper Fi

        • Patriot

I wasn’t implying anything negative about Romney with the exception of his campaign approach. I voted and supported him and really wish he had won.

I’m disappoint in that he could have buried Obama and he didn’t take a good shot at him during the debates to expose Obama for what he is and the damage he’s doing to this country.

        • http://www.facebook.com/junior.bennett.18 Junior Bennett

I agree with you all the way. Romney should have went after Obama with all barrels blasting. Romney had plenty to go after but he tryed to be Mr nice guy and he got his clock cleaned. How many times do the GOP have to get hit in the mouth before they wake up..Obama.s last four years as president . completely unsat.,and he still got elected what does that tell us.

        • Gidget

He is a good speaker reading the teleprompter. I love it when he goes off script because he says what he really wants.

        • markinla

Nobody from the industrial heartland was going to vote for a vulture capitalist who makes money by buying family businesses, loading them down with debt, and firing people to pay the debt off. People told you that before that clown was the nominee and you didn’t listen.

        • http://www.facebook.com/junior.bennett.18 Junior Bennett

Romney,s background is better then Obama. I am sure we had many things we could have talked about before the election. With the track record OBAMA left behind him during the last four years any body should have been able to win against him. The reason Obama won the election he told a lot of people what they wanted to hear, more free stuff and for people that don,t have the United States first on their list they are going to vote to keep getting free stuff. Until both parties start telling the american people the truth we will keep getting the same results as 2012 and of course The best qualified person for president will not always get elected. That is the way it is and the way I SEE IT.

        • markinla

You don’t get it do you? Obama was not being blamed for the bad economy. You don’t get over a major financial crash in a couple of years. It took over a decade to get past the Great Depression. Romney’s background is exactly like the people who crashed the economy and exactly like the people who got bailed out. He was even as arrogant as Lloyd Blankfein.

        • http://www.facebook.com/junior.bennett.18 Junior Bennett

Oh I get it alright.my first choice from the GOP running for president didn,t come out on top and the choice of the two running for president sure could not be Obama. Romney is smart, a good business man, made lots of money and most americans would be very happy to fill his shoes.Just because he didn,t get elected president I will not put him in front of a firing squad. I beleive he is great american and wish him well..I get it, and that is the way I see it

        • http://www.monster-island.net/ kushibo

Romney’s business background was always a liability, because contrary to Republican talking points, rich businessmen are job creators not just in this country but in other countries as well, and that meant that he was exporting American jobs to places like China. If Romney truly had been winning, the Obama administration had loads more ammunition to use to go after Romney’s business background.

Republicans can win with somebody who is fiscally conservative, but socially progressive up to a point, someone who doesn’t seem uncomfortable with poor people and doesn’t seem like he or she doesn’t understand where they’re coming from, and certainly somebody who doesn’t have a record of what seems like disdain for minorities. There’s got to be somebody out there like that.

        • Warren

Junior Bennett you are correct, but this so called president has a lot of help in pushing his agenda, do you seen any Democrats standing up to him, the fall of American is squarely on the backs of the Liberal Democrats, their Marxist agenda has never worked anywhere in the world for the long haul. Look and California, it’s falling apart at the seems and the liberals still don’t think that they are causing the problem, but when it falls they will have no place to run and hide.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Rhonda-Reichel/1339255666 Rhonda Reichel

    • ginger

I think one of the challanges of the GOP is the GOP Rinos who have no clear idea of what they are…they lean to the left and forget the principles of the original party..and those in the party today in government keep throwing these principles down the drain every time things get heated..as in Boehner caving in to pressure from the liberals.

      • mallen11

Boehner seem to be very insecure in his ability to lead and stand up against the liberals and they know it and use it against him everytime. He needs to stick to the Republican principles of our Grand ole’ Party and just say NO to the lefties. Give them some of their own medicine: FEAR

        • ginger

Boehner has proven time and again that he is weak and not a conservative…we could do much better..I had hoped when he was elected Speaker that he had the integrity to serve…but , alas, not so.

        • mallen11

He should step down but alas, like NP he thinks too much of himself instead of the country he is to serve. We can only pray for our country and its leaders.

        • ginger

pray long and hard and continually.

I am convinced that the “everyday citizens” will have to learn the hard way by going through the Great Obama Depression. Stay tuned…….

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Rhonda-Reichel/1339255666 Rhonda Reichel

        That’s right Dan
Those supporting the RINOS only have to look at how they voted for TARP, NDAA, & PATRIOT ACT to see how UNconservative they really are

        • markinla

You are mistaken when you call these people RINOs. The Republican Party has NEVER been about conservatism. Reagan was no conservative. All he did was cut taxes for rich people and raise them on working people. That is not conservatism. He never cut spending, he amnestied illegals when he wasn’t looking the other way while they flooded into the country lowering wages, and pushed for guest workers and free trade deals. These are not consistent with conservative ideals of preserving culture and communities.

Just because some business CEO wants something does not automatically make it “conservative”.

    • Patriot

Perhaps it’s society who is having an identity crisis?
I for one did not find anything I saw or heard from the young bloods at the Convention that I would disagree with. As a society, we should have all been ashamed and embarrassed by the convention that the Dems held especially when they removed references to God from their platform. What red blooded American would have stood up and cheered that behavior or their speakers verbal garbage spewed from their mouths

The Republican Party needs a little retooling and a damn good PR firm.
We need to get rid of our RHINOS and some of our establishment types that are causing or party harm.

      • mallen11

I appreciate what you are saying but our identity crisis comes from our turning away from God and choosing the way of destruction.
II Peter 3:8… but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity.
Jer 17:5 Thus says the LORD,” Cursed is the man who trusts in mankind and makes flesh his strength, and whose heart turns away from the LORD

        • Patriot

You’ll get no argument from me on that one! I was looking at it from more of a materialistic point of view as opposed to a spiritual one. We all need to be reminded that both are critical.

        • mallen11

Absolutely and when one turns to materialism it is because they have forsaken the spiritual side. There is nothing wrong with wealth as long as one keeps their eyes on the Lord and not their wealth. That is often too hard for many to follow.

        • Patriot

I guess that’s why we all need redemption.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Rhonda-Reichel/1339255666 Rhonda Reichel

      AMEN! AMEN!
IT IS OF OUR CIVIL RIGHTS, AS AMERICAN CITIZENS, to get this country back on it’s feet, but not everyone is going to agree, so, what do we do.
We argue our points with those elected, and most often, we clearly see that they have not a clue as to how to get us to prosperity.
The majority of American Citizens, can not grasp what some of us- AMERICAN citizens, CLEARLY understand.
THE FINANCIAL LOSS UPON AMERICA, AND THE CITIZENS/TAXPAYERS- IS- DEATH FOR AMERICA; Democrats toss Illegal Aliens into the mix, they bring a negative mentality to the table; AND A COST THAT WE SHOULD -END.
WHO KNOWS- WHY -ALL- American citizens can not see, the effects of this.
RED STATES- can prosper; we need to put our efforts into these.
For those who want to follow the blue states, let them.
Those who want to follow the red states- we will.
      PERHAPS- we must -SEPARATE.
It is said that the rural areas- DO NOT- MATTER- when votes are counted.
We need to put our efforts into: the American Citizens.
TO SURVIVE, OUR AMERICA, and, IT’S CITIZENS,THOSE OF US- WHO KNOW, HOW, have to be able to progress, ourselves, and America.
Arguing- WASTES TIME, of which we do not have- to, waste.
A new party name, is a good idea- AND-we need everyday people to lead us.
HOW do we get to this point.
CLEARLY- illegal aliens are continuing to cause CATASTROPHIC RESULTS to America.
The cost of ‘thier complete upkeep’- we can not continue with; it is well into the trillions.
Borrow money , and put ANY of it toward illegal, IS- NOT ACCEPTABLE.
CIVIL RIGHTS STATES; we need to consider this.
MANY of us POOR PEOPLE- are ready for a change; it is of our civil rights.

      • http://www.facebook.com/junior.bennett.18 Junior Bennett

I like what you posted, you are right, the american people must pull their face out of the mud and do what is right. I don,t know when it will happen but it will happen and I hope soon. The house and senate need to get Obama under control, they need to look out for america not Obama!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Joan-Carson/100000450210052 Joan Carson

I couldn’t agree more. I believe a change is needed to either the Tea Party or Conservative party. The Republican’s as whole have done nothing to preserve the original intent and formation of a Republic. We have a debt crisis because the Republicans in the house did nothing to stop Obamacare or even demand that it be read prior to voting; we are trillions of dollars in debt because the Republicans allowed the Muslim Marxist to spend the money on his stimulus and everything else. Who approved of Obama’s 17 vacations which have amounted to 1.5 billion? Karl Rove, on the night of Christine O’Donnell’s primary win in Delaware stated on FOX that she couldn’t win and denigrated her to the point it left a RINO in the Senate. Actually what this country needs is to clean out the House and the Senate and institute term limits…how we will get there with the fools who elected Obama for a second term is beyond my comprehension at this point short of a revolution. Obama does not plan to leave the WH.

“bore hog” had some interesting connotations to me. Especially in describing Boehner, whose pronunciation of his name doesn’t seem to correlate with the way it is spelled. Just sayin…..

  • http://www.rongoulden.com/Literary.htm Ron

The ‘Grand Old Party’ is out of date and out of touch. They all need to be replaced with true Americans who are willing to fight for and defend American ideals and goals. That being said, anyone currently in Congress needs to be fired and replaced. (Of course, the emperor is probably going to do that shortly, by declaring that Congress is a ‘do nothing’, obstructionist organization. When he dismisses them, he will be free to ruin the country as he sees fit, without any petty annoyances from Congress or the courts.)

    • ginger

      Amen !!

    • mjritter

True Americans… you haven’t a clue as to what the GOP was… today’s party is not the GOP under Lincoln, Roosevelt, Reagan, or even George Romney… The ignorance of your post is appalling. So you think that Obama can dismiss Congress? And how do propose he’s going to do it? Please cite what law? It can';t be an Executive order (which most people here haven’t a clue what they really are). As for do nothing.. well you are right there.. the House is a do-nothing House. It broke the record for being in session the least in 60 years. Just last week, they were in session for just over 1 day! Even Nancy Pelosi (whom I can’t stand) was a far better Speaker. As for the comment on the courts… you have no idea of the make-up of the courts… I’ll let you in on a secret . The Appellate Courts are mainly made up of conservative judges. The problem is you have no understanding of the law… You just want to make things up.

    • Patriot

I agree with you completely, except for one point. That point is that the President can’t declare Congress a ‘do nothing organization’ and then rule like a dictator. The President will be removed from office so fast that the mainstream media doesn’t know what hit them.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_4JD2GY6RGJ7HIWTU3G5SEFYAIM Diana

We do not think that the Republican Party should be called the Party of extinction. Instead the only group that wants to lead American to extinction are the Homosexuals. Homosexuals cannot reproduce and even considering having them to have marriages is just plain stupid! Instead of renaming the Republican Party why shouldn’t the Democratic Politicans explain why the majority of Americans that are Hetrosexual have to be allowed to be mocked by the Homosexual minority of people that did not even want to get married 100 or more years ago.

    • mjritter

ok. ignorance must be your middle name. Marriage has nothing to do with reproduction. Even Paul Clement, the lawyer for the plaintiffs acknowledged that in the CA Prop 8 case. One can have babies out of wedlock, and of course we have many senior citizens getting married and they don’t have babies… along with many couple who chose not to have them either… Bogus argument. And if you look at virtually every poll, the American people as a whole favor gay-marriage, though it shouldn’t matter. Back in the 60″s most in the South favored segregation… it was wrong, and the courts so ruled… The fact that we live in a REPUBLIC, where we protect the rights of the minority from the majority…Or is it you don’t believe in the principles of the great country….. The argument FOR gay marriage is very simple… and it falls under the 14th Amendment. It’s the Due Process clause and the Equal Protection Clause. One of the case the SCOTUS took was the case of the 83 y/o who had been with her partner for over 30 years. The were married, the state of NY recognized the marriage as being legal, thus under both clauses, the Federal government should treat them as married and allow them the same benefits as heterosexual couples. That’s called equality. You can’t treat equal parties differently. I would also challenge you to read the Loving v Virginia case dealing with interracial marriage that the SCOTUS voted 9-0 to knockdown in 1968.Here is quote from the case:
“Marriage is one of the “basic civil rights of man,” fundamental to our very existence and survival…. To deny this fundamental freedom on so unsupportable a basis as the racial classifications embodied in these statutes, classifications so directly subversive of the principle of equality at the heart of the Fourteenth Amendment, is surely to deprive all the State’s citizens of liberty without due process of law. The Fourteenth Amendment requires that the freedom of choice to marry not be restricted by invidious racial discrimination. Under our Constitution, the freedom to marry, or not marry, a person of another race resides with the individual and cannot be infringed by the State.”

Take out the fact that it dealt with interracial marriage and substitute gay marriage… and it’s the same principle…

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_EBHGFRHLLRPNQSU4N5JBSHJ7AA Jessy S

Yeah, but that ruling dealt with the ability of a white man and black woman or black man and white woman to marry. Gay marriage can’t be allowed because it just isn’t natural. In fact, the bible calls it sodomy and God will not only be stark-raving mad, but the Catholic Church will ex-communicate the Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court even if he is in the minority.

They need to do something. Look where we are now. Ed

  • LibertysSon

The real problem is that the progressive in the republican party have had control over the years and have lost their way. The Country Club Republicans spew conservative like words but their demeanor and actions show they don’t really believe what they are saying themselves. People can see this and know that they are not sincere in their words and beliefs. The only president I have seeen come out of the Republican morass was Reagan, and the establishment Republicans fougt against him tooth and nail for over 20 tears! It is time for the old dinosaurs to relinquish the GOP to the new young true conservatives that are growing in the party. If they don’t, sadly, the GOP will become a permanent minority party and the D’s will surely take this country down the road to Perdition!

    • jreg9304

if, and i do mean if what you are saying is true! then we should just put a 2 year old in the W.H. and call him baby prez. what are you insanely loco? you must be too young as not to be wise to read between the lines, that all politicians are corrupt. how do you think they got into big gov? by getting their palms greased.. and another thing who says that you have to be a college grad to be a politician. i would bet that quite a few in Washington don’t even have a H.S.diploma. a lot of them grew up rich or married into money. the constitution, if the right leadership was in office, would uphold this document tooth and nail, or die trying. this country should not be about party, it should be about the constitution, bill of rights and the declaration of independence, not politicians or parties getting fun money that the people of America cannot afford for them to spend. America is the greatest country on earth and will still prevail into the future.

      • LibertysSon

        • Classic_Liberal

Colonel West voted for two bills that no American People loving representative should have voted for, The Patriot Act and the NDAA in which section 1021 allows American citizens to be arrested and detained indefinitely without formal charges and and no right to trial. That Gidget is treasonous. I love all of the words I hear come out of his mouth but these votes do not back up the words. Simple as that.

To your point about Reagan, it was a real shame what the Establishment attempted to do to him. He demonstrated that people will follow when you articulate conservative principles. The young bloods and minorities showcased during the convention was a great thing to see especially when juxtaposed against the human garbage that the DNC put forward. I understand where you are coming from. I also voted for the Tea Party favorite here in FL in 2010. Now I want to leave the repulican party and join a Conservative party. These days you cannot tell the dems from the repubs. In Washington they all party together and love the power they have given themselves. They are exempt from bills they stuff down our throats and have forgotten they work for us (not we work for them). I have come to realize they don’t read the faxes we send but probably file them in the round file. The repubs are going to give the republican a death sentence.

        • medic2003

FOr that to work the freedom loving parties need to compromise and merge. It wont happen through the GOP.

        • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_EBHGFRHLLRPNQSU4N5JBSHJ7AA Jessy S

The people dug in like TICKS can be removed from office. All it will take is Rush Limbaugh snapping.

        • medic2003

Well you are right, the effort to change VOTERS minds and get them to see past the R or the D and look at the person is the real fight. If we focus on that, we will see those ticks get picked off and done away with in a political sense. Blindly voting for whatever the RNC or DNC puts out there is what got us in this mess to begin with.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Joan-Carson/100000450210052 Joan Carson

Both LibertySon and you have it correctly stated. The GOP/Republican party has been a thorn in Conservatives for years. The Establishment decided they were the only ones who could determine candidates: i.e. Bob Dole, McCain and now
Romney. The major conservatives were thrown under the bus, i.e. Sarah Palin, Reagan, Col Allen West, Herman Cain. The Republicans did not fight for West on the voter fraud in Florida, or Herman Cain – or for that matter Romney who would have at least saved us from the Communist in the WH. Sarah, who wanted to go after Obama in 2008, was and is continually denigrated by the Liberals/MSN and not a word of support for her during the McCain campaign. She stands alone in her fight for conservatism and the Constitution –

        • medic2003

I dont disagree with Palin on several issues, however I never want to see her in the white house. Shes just not pres material. This is my opinion, and it is shared by many. She is good for getting the message out, however she isnt standing alone. In fact there are Conservative, Liberty minded people I agree with far more that are doing a very good job at furthering the cause. Ron Paul being one of them. No one has done more in recent history to guide people towards liberty than Ron Paul.

        • The Brigadier

They weren’t thrown under the bus. None of them could attract enough of a following. Each of them was anointed as the front runner and all lasted about a week each,. Cain lasted about six weeks and then the women came forward. Hardly throwing him under the bus. Palin is hated by the left as Hillary is hated by the right. Both of these women say things that make the other side cringe.

Female leaders have to convince both men and women that they can lead as decisively as men, and recent studies have shown that women are also resistant to top female leaders unless they are very level headed and competent. Palin baled on Alaska and was seen as a quitter under pressure. Hillary with her convoluted health care proposal that husband Bill let her design was seen as incompetent. Then with the revelations about Whitewater and her theft of the White House furniture and the china she was also seen as being basically dishonest. Hardly being thrown under the bus for either of them. They screwed themselves.

My impression of the convention was that there are 2 opposing strengths in it. The RINOS, lead by Chris Christie, the biggest mistake in choice convention opening speaker, who defaulted by converting to a Democrat announced on twitter yesterday.(Old past strength) Sarah Palin would have energized Mitt’s run had he chosen her… yet he could not see. Sarah is a great speaker.(New upcoming strength)

I also loved the governor of NM and her story “Hey, I’m a Republican” (Another new upcoming strength.)

I think Mitt felt obligated to use the old strengths because of Karl Rove but its clear, the new should now hold center stage…..

        • Progressive Republican

That was Charlie Crist. NOT Chris Christie.

You guys keep talking about “conservatives”, what “conservatives” are and do and believe and not one of you has a clue what REAL conservatism is. If any of you are sufficiently intellectually curious and honest, look at REAL conservatives like John Wayne and Sen. Goldwater. There’s NOBODY today that’s REAL conservative left in the GOP. They were run out by RINOs.

      • 1Emmit

Yep! Let us face it: the reason the republican party is weak, squishy and confused is because the party leaders want to be democrats lite in order to win. . . .they hope. They have brought the party to the mess that it finds itself. They won’t leave quietly. . .or gracefully: see Boehner.

    • TLady62

Yes! And a great way to start is to oust Rep. John Boehner as House Speaker.

      • Justin

To do that you need to call your representative and demand that they abstain from the vote in January that will re-instate that spineless traitor as Speaker…hopefully, his constituents will get rid of him in 2014.

        • wminaz

I don’t think I have to call my representative since he was one of the true conservatives who had his committee assignment removed by Boehner.

        • WhiteFalcon

A call or an E-mail will let him know that he has your support.

        • Gidget

Rand Paul came up with a great idea. All the repubs should vote present and the dems will own the passage of taxes. As you probably know, they won’t do this.

        • TLady62

Unfortunately my Rep is a CA Democrat I did not vote for.

      • Ron G

Boehner is more of a democrat then a Republican. He’s the white side of obama.

      • Roberto

Boehner should have been thrown out in 2006. In 1998 the Democrats gained five house seats. Congressional Republicans punished Newt Gingrich by taking away the speakership. In 2006 the Democrats gained contol of the House and nary a word was spoken faulting him for the loss.

    • mallen11

I could not have said it better so I won’t comment. The best to you and may your Christmas Season be meaningful and your New Year filled with grace from Christ.

    • Dee cide for yourself

You are so right. The old establishment repubs have got to get out of the way and let the younger, true conservatives take over. The old established repubs are rino’s, caving into the dems every whim, thus not following the true conservative republican way…WE republicans are who made this nation great!

      • Gidget

Colonel West was only in one term so is not an old establishment.

        • Heylottylotty

And he really was thrown under the preverbial ‘bus’. Voter fraud abounded in his district. The GOP whistled as they walked away from that one. He was abandoned because he spoke truth and wisdom.

      • Heylottylotty

Being an old codger myself, I take issue when “old” is thrown about so carelessly. Some of my best friends are old but old doesn’t mean they have lost worth, morals, ethics, or patriotism. Surely with so many here able to dig into Sara Palan, Alan West, etc with such depth (though somewhat skewed), could separate the “Old” defectors from the “old” reliable conservatives. Gotta go, my metamucil is calling.

    • robylynn

Absolutely right on the money!!! You nailed the problem. I sometimes wonder if there’s not a tad more to the story, however. Do you think that the Republican party has actually been infiltrated (like the schools and churches and most other of our institutions)–by liberals pretending to be conservatives??? Look at Charlie Christ, for example. If so, then a newly formed, upgraded party that gets big will probably be infiltrated as well. Evil just keeps winning. People need to fully examine a candidates voting record and background…and not just approve of him/her because of an “R” after the name. In fact, I think this happened with Romney and this is why his base was lukewarm. Unfortunately, the Republican Party illegally squeezes out true conservatives, like they did to Ron Paul. The fact that they keep presenting us with candidates that aren’t truly conservative should indicate to us that the Republican Party has been taken over by the liberals. Maybe we should have just stuck with the British monarchy afterall. They ended up owning us through the banks anyway….and they actually run things here anyway. What good did the bloody revolution do??? None, if you ask me. The loyalists were probably right. They had religious freedom in the colonies. The war was really about banking and not freedom of religion. It always is about the money. After this bloody war, England later ended up controlling us through the banks anyway…(thanks to Ben Franklin and his work behind the scenes).

    • Shavis

Repackaged manure, when opened, still has the same stink!

    • CIA2

LS, you’re right. We’ve forgotten how the British ruled us without any regard for our rights as Colonial Citizens. Well, we took care of that. We’ve also forgotten how the Indentured Servants, black and white, had to live under “massa’s” whip. Well, Lincoln took care of that. We’ve also forgotten how hard and dangerous it was for a Black Student, in those days, to enter a decent school because the “decent folks” didn’t want them. Well, a Republican Senate took care of that! Are we to also forget that the United States is a “Republic”, or shall we change that also?!! GBA!!

    • http://www.facebook.com/greg.harrod.14 Greg Harrod

Absolutely! RINO’s need to get with the conservative program, or leave. A choice between Democrats and Democrat Lite (aka RINO’s) is no choice at all, as there are no sharply contrasting differences between the two.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Mary-Laforet/100000662510644 Mary Laforet

We’re already on that road to perdition, Liberals no longer exist, they’re now socialists. I was pleased yesterday to see Jim DeMint take a position with Heritage, the think tank for conservatives. The country will roll back and I think Jim would be a great president if ever he were to try….

      • The Brigadier

Yeah, he is distancing himself from the pack in Congress, while he goes out and gets some impeccable conservative experience at the Heritage Foundation. He can probably win the nomination and the election. He will be running against the Hildebeast in ’16.

      • robylynn

I love Jim DeMint. But the Republican party will never let him in. They will use him for show….dragging him around like Raggedy Andy until they’re done with him. Once we buy the illusion that he was actually one of our CHOICES (wink, wink)…..they will cast him into the ditch like they did to Ron Paul and Herman Cain when they were done parading them around. I heard today that it will be another Bush/ Clinton run. Hillary (of Benghazigate) and Jeb will be running. The pundits say that Clinton will win by a landslide…..that is, if obama is willing to leave. It looks like the establishment has already decided, the people be damned. I hope DeMint does not take part in this little Shakespearean drama of theirs. I think he’s smarter than that. They could flatter his ego, like they did to Gingrich and convince him he’s the pick…..so he plays the game. But it will be a total waste of time. I say we go back to the days of the Mayflower Compact and just let mother England rule us. They do anyway.

What We The People need is someone with the guts of a Lion and I can only think of a few – Sarah Palin who has never deviated from Conservative truth, the Constitution, family, God and County and has the cajones as does Col. Allen West who speaks out with great courage; Herman Cain; Mark Levin; Sheriff Joe who had the guts to go after Obama’s forged birth certificate. Not one person in the media had/has the courage to go after Obama’s illegality; the fact the man is a Muslim, a Marxist and obviously now responsible for the deaths of four Americans. At some point folks, we have to say NO MORE; I suspect the welfare fools will perhaps realize that Obama is a false prophet and a liar when their food stamps no longer buy much food, gas goes up, Obamacare is not about health but about control – properties are taken (Agenda 21) everything about liberty and freedom is gone.

    GOP Alienates True Conservatives

Who and What is REALLY behind
the “Fiscal Cliff” Controversy/ and More

    • docdave1

      The movie, “The
Obama Deception” very well predicted the future results of
Obama’s Presidency way back from when he was sworn in.
and so did the second part titled, “Fall of the Republic”

      Yes, Obama is the
enemy of your freedom and prosperity, your future and your
      children’s future.

      But do you know
really know who Mitt Romney is?

The following are 40 ways that
Barack Obama and Mitt Romney were essentially the same candidate….

      1. Barack Obama and Mitt Romney both
      supported TARP.

      2. Mitt Romney supported
      Barack Obama’s “economic stimulus” packages.

      3. Mitt Romney says that Barack Obama’s bailout
      of the auto industry was
      actually his idea.

      4. Neither candidate supports immediately
      the federal budget.

      5. They both believe in big government and they
      both have a
      track record of being big
      spenders while in office.

      6. Barack Obama and Mitt Romney both fully
      support the Federal Reserve.

      7. Barack Obama and Mitt Romney are
both on record as saying that the president should not question
the “independence” of the Federal Reserve.

      8. Barack Obama and Mitt Romney have both said
that Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke did
a good job during the last financial crisis.

      9. Barack Obama and Mitt Romney both
felt that Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke deserved to be
      renominated to a second term.

      10. Both candidates oppose
a full audit of the Federal Reserve.

      11. Both candidates are
on record as saying that U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner
      has done a good job.

      12. Barack Obama and Mitt Romney have both been
      big promoters of
      universal health care.

      13. Mitt Romney was the one who developed the
      plan that
      Obamacare was later based upon.

      14. Wall Street absolutely
showers both candidates with campaign contributions.

      15. Neither candidate wants to eliminate the
      income tax or the IRS.

      16. Both candidates want to keep personal income
      tax rates at
the exact same levels for the vast majority of Americans.

      17. Both candidates are “open” to the
      idea of imposing a
Value Added Tax on the American people.

      18. Barack Obama and Mitt Romney both believe
that the TSA is doing a great job.

      19. Barack Obama and Mitt Romney both
      supported the NDAA.

      20. Barack Obama and Mitt Romney both
supported the renewal of the Patriot Act.

      21. Barack Obama and Mitt Romney both believe
that the federal government should be able to indefinitely detain
American citizens that are considered to be terrorists.

      22. Both candidates believe that American
citizens suspected of being terrorists can be killed by the president
      a trial.

      23. Barack Obama has not closed Guantanamo Bay
like he promised to do, and Mitt Romney actually wants to
double the number of prisoners held there.

      24. Both candidates support
      the practice of “extraordinary rendition”.

      25. They both
support the job-killing “free trade” agenda of the
      global elite.

      26. They both accuse each other of shipping jobs
out of the country and both of them are right.

      27. Both candidates are extremely
      soft on illegal immigration.

      28. Neither candidate has any military
experience. This is the first time that this has happened in a
      U.S. election since

      29. Both candidates earned a degree from
      Harvard University.

      30. They both
believe in the theory of man-made global warming.

      31. Mitt Romney has said that he will support a
“cap and trade” carbon tax scheme (like the one Barack
      Obama wants) as long as
the entire globe goes along with it.

      32. Both candidates have a very long record of
      supporting strict
      gun control measures.

      33. Both candidates have been pro-abortion most
of their careers. Mitt Romney’s “conversion” to the
pro-life cause has been questioned by many. In fact, Mitt
      Romney has
made millions on Bain Capital’s investment in a company called
“Stericycle” that incinerates aborted babies collected from
      family planning clinics.

      34. Barack Obama and Mitt Romney both
believe that the Boy Scout ban on openly gay troop leaders is

      35. They both believe that a “two state
solution” will bring lasting peace between the Palestinians and

      36. Both candidates have a history of nominating
      liberal judges.

      37. Like Barack Obama, Mitt Romney also plans to
      add “signing
statements” to bills when he signs them into law.

      38. They both have a horrible record when
      it comes to job creation.

      39. Both candidates believe that the president
has the power to take the country to war without
getting the approval of the U.S. Congress.

      40. Both candidates plan to continue running up
more government debt even though the U.S. government is already 16
      trillion dollars in debt.

      But do you know
really know who Mitt Romney is? He is the son of Rockefeller
Republican George Romney. Look at who called him “..our favorite
son!” None other than globalist kingpin Nelson Rockefeller.

      Mitt Romney would
have been the enemy of your freedom and prosperity, and your
children’s future just as much as Obama. He is a “Rockefeller
Republican” and true to the legacy of J.D Rockefeller, he is as
slick as the snake oil selling family of banksters who pushed his
father, and now push him. Just watch this….

now has a maximum of four years remaining in the office; If Romney or
any of the other unqualified Republican’s were elected then one
would probably be looking at twelve to sixteen years before the
people will have another opportunity to vote for a qualified
candidate. This is based upon the premise that the unqualified
Republican would probably get two terms, or at least prohibit a
qualified candidate after his first term. Then another switch back
to an unqualified Democrat for at least four and maybe eight years.
During the Republican Primaries, The establishment Republicans
repeatedly demonstrated conclusively that they will undermine a
qualified candidate on their own ticket and are opposed
      limited Constitutional government. They
offered, realistically, twelve to sixteen more years of failure.
I don’t think the Nation can survive another twelve to sixteen years,
it may be able to survive another four.

the Republican Establishment had really wanted my vote, they would
have needed to run and support qualified candidates who support and
defend The Constitution – I’m not listening anymore to their nonsense
about being against Obama when they undermined the only two qualified
candidates they had, Congressman Paul and Governor Gary Johnson.
Since they would not support two qualified candidates they did
not get my vote for the unqualified candidate Mitt Romney. They
are liars and can not be trusted. They are only against
Obama because he is a democrat, not because they oppose his ideology
and beliefs because they are pretty much the same as Romney.

the GOP were genuine in their belief of limited government we would
not have seen the DELIBERATE marginalization of the best candidates.
It’s all smoke and mirrors beyond that. Simply one party with two
names, both intent on the ruination of America. I am sick of watching
      this puppet show.

was One Candidate for President who has shown by his example, by his
past record who he truly is: A Christian who does not brag about it,
instead he walks the walk every day of his life practicing the Golden
Rule; A family man who has been married to the same woman for 55
years; The Patriarch of a family who are salt of the earth Americana
at it’s very best; A true Constitutionalist who has never wavered
from his principles and Votes “NO” to every unconstitutional
bill. And to those who say he did not get enough legislation passed I
say that is like criticizing a Nun for not turning “tricks” in a
brothel when her purpose for being there is to redeem the harlots and
      show them a better way.

does not boast, he does not brag, he does not tell you he is the
toughest so elect him, because he has demonstrated a firm yet
resilient purposefulness all his life and he speaks a simple yet
powerful truth. He does not want to “lead” you by manipulative
tyranny, instead his personal and political life is a benediction to
virtue and inspires others to listen, look and act. He does not want
to control you or your life. He wants you to live in Liberty. He
wants you to live in Freedom. He does not seek the Presidency to
assuage his ego. He sought the Presidency so he can Serve the People
and Restore the Constitution and America and he was willing to forgo
the $400,000 that Obama is being paid, and only accept $39,336 to
      serve us.

7Up is the un-cola, Ron Paul is the Un-Politician and America would
not have had to choose from coke “Obama” or pepsi “Romney.”
Remember that you could have had a V8 in 08 instead of McCain’t.
McCain was a ringer and so was Romney in 12. Instead you will have
to settle for O-bomb-a in 12. You could have had a Ron Paul instead
and you would have been feeling a whole lot better about it today,
      after the election.

were warned that one of three likely scenarios would take place:

Paul doesn’t get the nomination and runs as a third party candidate:
Ron Paul gets the following voters: (a. 2008 Obama voters who
thought they were going to get ‘Change’, (b. 2008 Obama voters who
voted to end the wars, (c. the VAST majority of the Independent
vote. (d. Ron Paul supporters coming out to vote in DROVES. Maybe
Obama wins. Probably Ron Paul wins.”
But Ron Paul did not run as a third-party candidate. Instead, he
stayed in The Party and worked hard against great odds to change the
course of history until the bitter end of the Convention.

“Ron Paul and his supporters are shut out and even
violently attacked at the conventions: Fervent and stubborn Ron Paul
supporters stay home or write him in or vote for Gary Johnson.”

      is what happened

      RNC Disenfranchises
Paul Delegates; Rigs Rules to Nominate

      RNC/GOP Corruption 2012

      RNC Sham 2012

      Surrealism, Soviet Realism

This is what could have happened. “Ron
Paul gets the GOP nomination: Ron Paul gets the following voters:
      (a. 2008 Obama voters who thought they were going to get ‘Change’,
      (b. 2008 Obama voters who voted to end the wars, (c. the VAST
majority of the Independent vote, (d. the entire GOP voting block
who dislikes Obama enough to vote for Ron Paul instead. (e. Ron Paul
supporters coming out to vote in DROVES. Ron Paul definitely wins.”

could have made a difference. You could have awakened and got up and
did something productive to get the only Constitutionally Qualified
and most decent human being who was running for President; who so
humbly walks the walk of Christ without calling attention to himself
like so many who are glitter bugs talking as they are stumbling.

time, get behind someone who is truly Constitutionally Conservative
like Ron Paul is. It will NOT be anyone like Marco Rubio, Eric
Cantor, Paul Ryan, Michelle Bachman, Rick Santorum, Rick Perry, Newt
Gingrich, or Mitt Romney. It won’t be fat slob Krispy Kreme Chris
Christie and it won’t be Globalist Jeb Bush whose grand daddy was
      Hitler’s banker!

WILL be someone like Ron Paul, Walter Jones, John Duncan, Justin
Amish, Gary Johnson, Virgil Goode, Chuck Baldwin, or Rand Paul.

will record what we do today moving forward. Will we save America
while we still can? Or will we re-arrange the furniture on a sinking
ship? I am not young, but I feel for the young people and I would
like to leave our children and our children’s children an America of
Freedom and Liberty with Constitutional Law, and specifically a Bill
of Rights that protects their God given rights to Life, Liberty and
      the Pursuit of Happiness.

will judge us for what we do today, and for what we don’t do today.
Will Posterity pay homage to you for acting wisely to protect them by
bringing flowers to your place of bodily rest, or will they curse
your memory and bring sledge hammers and wrecking balls to tear down
your monuments and edifices and desecrate your graves?

      about it People.

Rename the Democrat Party. Name it the Socialist-Libertine Party. “Socialist” for the teachings of Karl Marx and “Libertine” for “if you feel like doing it—whatever it is—just do it.”

  • Octavious

How about just joining the Libertarian Party?

  • me3tv

Republicans have the better policy ideals but have a complete lack of ability to articulate the message that should inspire hope and enthusiasm among demographics that are traditionally abused for power by the Democrats. Republicans have long preached to “the choir”. Older white males with business experience were once a large demographic that could understand capitalism and economics and they understood why Republican ideals were better for the country (for everyone) because they could see the impact on the business books. The message must be packaged so other demographic groups can SEE the advantage of Republican policy TO THEM and see the damage Democrat policies do TO THEM. I don’t see much hope for this to happen. Rubio and Paul are good at articulation but the Party itself has an image problem and the message is not reaching the growing demographics that are deciding elections.

    • CDD

Please, allow me to further refine one of your statements. It is not an inability to articulate, it is the complete lack of a collective PAIR OF BALLS!!!!!!! The GOP wants to be liked by the Liberals and their propaganda machine. And by the GOP’s actions,

me3tv ~ yep! I’ve wondered just how old Mitt’s “advisors” were. I believe they were “politicians”, aggressive, self centered ones at that, who believed they knew it all. They were not, it turned out, strategists. His speech writers had no concept of who was listening. Business owners loved him, understood him. The largest majority of voters on both sides couldn’t grasp the idea that they, too, could become business owners, millionaires or better. The economy was in the pitts ~ that was easily understood. Thanks to the “organiztions’ many were forced to join just to work, they believed “big business” was to blame for their struggles. But the focus of the GOP message was all aimed at billionaires can help you! Some understood, but didn’t believe. So, with that struggle going on in the minds and hearts of mainstream America, what did the GOP (Good ol’ Politicians) do? They opened their very visible convention with new laws: Let’s throw out and permanently block they very people who were dedicated to helping the GOP by backing the Republican and Tea Party candidates who would work side by side to reduce government size and spending, and get our beloved country back on track. What the the “other” party do? They hired an entire army of people who understand the average American mind and heart. Then they manifpulated their message to make them believe their party and the New King would take care of them, hug them. love them, support them, one and all! They were even smart enough to hire computer programmers to develop their ability to target the “undecided” and send them warm, loving messages ~ daily! My sister got an email every single day! They were smart enough to know it was a waste of time to keep trying to attract those who were already on board. Not bad enough, they also hired programmers to cheat the public out of their votes. The Republicans simply underestimated the competition. Perhaps they used their “intelligence”, but certainly not their common snse or their hearts . And no one hat the balls to call the rats on their constant accusations of recism! I truly believe Mitt would make a great President ~ he has the mind, experience and intelligence. But he was wrongly directed. The Democrats, we must remember, if we are given the chance to vote again, are not the folks we perceive them to be simply because of who they “used” to be. They are smart, but most of all, they are devious! It’s our own damn fault we are still in the damn mess! Mine too ~ I didn’t raise my concerns to the Party ahead of time. Afterwards, when I did, I explained how upset many were, especially about the rule changes that shocked us. My main queston: What are you going to do to get the disenfranchised back into the Party? This was the response: ……………………

    • mjritter

the reason why they can’t sell it… is simply because their ideas have more holes than Swiss cheese… What the “older white men” in business knew , was how to get corporate welfare… It appears you have a very limited idea of economics… Just so you know, the country’s GDP under a democrat President, has doubled that of a republican president ever since Hoover… and that’s discounting the 4 years during WWII because our GDP was in double digits then… For anyone wishing to check it out, it’s easy to find.. Look under the BEA… You people live in some kind of a bubble…

      • me3tv

I think you would learn something by looking at the years those Democrats were president and seeing if indeed the Republicans had some cloiut in congress. I think your assessment of value under every Democrat President is a talking point and not based on fact. Even Clinton’s wonderful years (with a Republican Congress to guide him) was destroyed by the tech bubble six months before he left office and to this DAY Democrats continue to talk about the “projected surpluss” that never happened. Democrats simply manage to manipulate the meida and the numbers far better than the Republicans for PR advantage. They articulate the image they want even though it destroys the very people they sell the message to.

While its already taken I’d like to see it become the constitution party because that’s what we need to end this mess. Limited to the enumerated powers the federal government would be under control else as it is today its out of control and rapidly becoming tyrannical

    • pjk40

LOVE THAT NAME! I have been saying this for a while – There IS already a Constitution Party, but if you read their mission statement and goals, they closely resemble the Tea Party and other groups. They need to band together to increase their numbers in one nice concise group.

I voted for Chuck Baldwin (constitution party) in 2008
Who will join me in 2014 and 2016?

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Rhonda-Reichel/1339255666 Rhonda Reichel

Brian there already is a CONSTIUTION PARTY
get that GOP tick off of you and switch parties

Changing the name won’t get rid of the problem until the ‘old guard’ GOP power brokers and the RINOS are purged out!

Being a 30 + year Marine I just want to let you know Marines follow Orders and Col North was and is a outstanding Marine and american Col North done a lot for our great country.what have you done for the country?

  • stonehillady

As a conservative for limited Federal control over us & for more States Control, I am, as many feel that our party has been hijacked by the PNAC agenda proposed by the neo-cons. So we don’t see any difference with-in the parties… they both propose welfare. One, the Liberals for the people, making wards of the state, the other, the GOP, for the International Military Complex. Both are controlled by the Federal Reserve & it’s memeber banks which ultimately want to take this nation & the world to a complete Marxist State run by a Fascist Elite few headquartered out of Belgium with using the USA chattel as it’s Policeman…
So, as the people get dumbed down to walking Zombies to become sadistic slaves it doesn’t make a damn good of difference how or what the Republican Party tries to do to remake it self. As long as the Federal Reserve & Central Banks rule the world, unless they come down, we will always be bicking about stuff we can never control.

      Excellent analysis Stonehilllady !
The one who wanted to rid us of the federal reserve got shafted by the GOP
      Curses on them

  • iheartdagney

I completely disagree. The problem with the Republicans is that they
    gave up teaching what
    “Republic” and
    “Democracy” means. The actual TRUE
policies of each party is in the name, has been forever, and people don’t even think about their meanings. Republican ie.,
Republic is the rule of law. Democracy or
Democrat is MOB RULE. There you have it. Teach what the words actually mean, don’t change the name. USE IT as it should be.

    • mjritter

I needed to put my boots on for that piece of BS…

    • Patriot

The dems have also allowed the bastardization of their party name for political gain. It is the Democrat Party which appears to have morphed into the Democratic Party.

You are absolutely correct when you say Democrat is MOB RULE. That is and always has been the problem with it.

  • har82

And this wording ,, is why we can no longer call them liberals lol. We must , start calling them what they are – COMMUNISTS – , or socialists ,, if you prefer which is a knife edge away from true communism anyway.
Renaming the party to – civil rights – party would be a mistake as well. H e l l , even communists ( democraps ) have a distaste for the – aclu- lol.

Nope, I much prefer kicking all the – democraps – out ,,, of the Republican party. There is no room any longer in politics for wishy washy limp spined – b o e n e r – type republicans.

    • mjritter

wow.. ignorance must run rampant in your house… You haven’t a clue what a communist is. As for the ACLU, again ignorance is bliss… Maybe you need a history class on the History of the Republican Party. And then a class on the ACLU… Your idea of the US Constitution is way out in right field… heck it’s probably out on some other planet.. try URANUS..

      • Patriot

I think you just showed us what a commie is. A pink one at that.

Speaking of the ACLU, they once found that they were so un American and out in left field they made the conscience effort to soften their organization. They after all were Commies and became spooked when it became publicly known.

You really need to take your blather and shove it up URANUS you punk!
