More Evidence that Nancy Pelosi is a Low-Information Member of Congress
Have you ever wondered why ignorant people get elected to political office? The voters know that they will not follow the rules. They know that they will not keep their oath. If enough pressure is put on them, they will vote the way
The latest ignorance coming from House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is astounding. In reaction to the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School and the call for more gun regulation, Pelosi said that members of Congress took an oath to “protect and defend. That is our first responsibility.”
Protect and defend what? How?
Something’s missing. What did Pelosi and other members of Congress take an oath to protect and defend?
“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.”
Pelosi took an oath to “support and defend” the Second Amendment since it is part of the Constitution.
Nancy Pelosi can’t defend me if an intruder breaks into my house and wants to do me harm. I don’t have her private number, and she couldn’t get here fast enough to defend me. In fact, without a gun, Ms. Pelosi would be defenseless.
All she could do is tell the intruder that what he’s doing is against the law.
“Didn’t you see President Obama, surrounded by children, sign 23 Executive Actions that were designed to stop gun violence? Shame on you. Now put down your weapon and follow these new orders from the President.”
Writing that made me laugh and cry at the same time.
We shouldn’t be surprised that Ms Pelosi is a low-information member of Congress. When she and her fellow Democrats were pushing healthcare reform, she told the world that the legislation needed to be passed even if it had not been read:
“‘It’s going to be very, very exciting,’ Pelosi bubbled, telling the 2010 Legislative Conference for the National Association of Counties that Congress ‘[has] to pass the bill so you can find out what’s in it, away from the fog of controversy.’”
I can’t see how passing new laws to curtail my freedom is protecting and defending me. These laws are making me less secure and criminals more secure since they don’t obey laws.
