Colorado Moves To Ban Shotguns

Liberals have been saying for a long time that the 2nd Amendment is about the right to hunt deer. And if you’ve dared to listen to Piers Morgan for any length of time, he’ll tell his 2nd Amendment guests that Obama isn’t after everyone’s guns. They just want to ban the “assault” rifle, because no one actually needs one in order to kill a deer.

And who was it that told a woman to “buy a shotgun” to protect herself from a home invader? It was none other than VP Joe Biden. So, he recommends that everyone buy a shotgun for home defense. But what if you can’t even buy one of those?

The Colorado House just passed HB 13-1224 that would effectively outlaw a pump shotgun, the most popular choice among Colorado’s hunters. State Senator Greg Brophy, a Republican, pointed to a section of the bill that defined a high-capacity magazine as one that can accept or be converted to accept more than 15 rounds or 8 shotgun shells. Brophy held the semi-automatic shotgun and demonstrated to the local news reporter that it is designed to be able to accommodate an additional magazine. In other words, it can be converted into a “high-capacity” magazine which, according to the bill, makes that shotgun illegal. He said further:

“The law is specific as of July 1. You can keep it, but only if you maintain continuous possession of it. If it breaks, you can’t give it to a gunsmith even to fix it. You can’t hand it to your son to use. It’s all now outlawed because of this 1224, the bill that Gov. Hickenlooper says he’s going to sign … this is the most extreme thing anybody’s ever done related to firearms.”

It still has to pass the Colorado Senate, but like the Senator said above, the Governor is ready to sign the bill.

Senate Democrats were pressed by CBS about the issue Senator Brophy brought up about shotguns. They said that they would amend the bill, and that a draft of the amendment would be heard Monday in committee.

This bill doesn’t need to be amended. It needs to be thrown out.
