Pelosi Fail: “Tax Cuts Are Spending”

Pelosi’s all in favor of cutting spending as long as everyone agrees that tax cuts are spending. This has been the Democrat talking point from the beginning. Eliminate the tax “loopholes” and deductions that make it possible for the evil rich guy to minimize his taxes. Here’s what she said in context at a Capitol Hill press conference:

“Our whole budget is what, $3.5 trillion? So, when we talk about reducing spending, we certainly must, and we certainly have–$1.6 trillion in the previous Congress, $1.2 of it in the Budget Control Act. But spending is also related to tax cuts. Tax cuts are spending. Tax expenditures, they are called. Subsidies for big oil, subsidies to send jobs overseas, breaks to send jobs overseas, breaks for corporate jets. They are called tax expenditures. Spending money on tax breaks.”

I don’t like subsidies either. The government shouldn’t be sending subsidy checks to anyone. Not failed “green” energy plants. Not even farmers. But subsidies are different from tax cuts.

She’s presupposing that the government owns all our income. If it truly did, then she’d be right. But just because the government forces Americans at the barrel of a gun to give up portions of their incomes doesn’t mean that it must be OK for them to confiscate our wealth. They have to use force to do it, because they know deep in their dark hearts that it’s morally wrong to steal, and forcing us is the only way we’ll give it up.

To the more rational-minded, a tax cut is simply the government letting us keep a little more of our own income. I’m all for tax cuts. The government isn’t having to spend any additional money in order to cut someone’s taxes. It’s just simply not going to be able to take as much.

The fact that Pelosi wants to focus so much on cutting tax cuts shows once again that she doesn’t care one bit about the economy or creating jobs or taking care of the poor and middle class. Quite the contrary. She seems quite content to not only tax the poor and middle class, but to make sure the government gets the absolute maximum amount out of their pockets as possible by not allowing any tax cuts.

Instead of cutting government spending by eliminating the trillions in waste, Pelosi wants to go after the people she claims she’s helping out. Talk about subsidies. She wants to subsidize the poor, and we all know that we get more of whatever the government subsidizes.

Pelosi … dumber than a … Rock!!!!! Rock’s have more brains, duh!!!!!!!!

  • StarDust Dolittle

There has to be something wrong with these people in the WH, l can not believe their stupid ways of thinking or their lack of education.

  • Jason Johnson

Her comments are typical of a party that calls tax cuts “subsidies.”

  • Carol Fryer

I wonder if these people are purposely trying to sound insane, because they do every time I hear them open their mouths.

  • Othello

America wouldn’t have a deficit if the president AND Congress WOULD STOP SPENDING!!!!! I think that once a congressman/woman AND the president, past present and future, leave office they do not get their hefty salary for life.

  • bird

with her way of thinking she will never be the SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE. just look how her state is so screwed up. get your own state fixed and the go to HARRY REID state and help his screwed state straightened out.

  • fwiw

And she was speaker of the house. A moron AND a liar who seems to be able to keep putting things over on her constituency. Hard to believe that anybody is stupid enough to re-elect her. Of course, my state keeps putting in Harry Reid. I really don’t have anything to say on the matter.

It is nice to spend time reading these comments to help me realize
there are plenty of sound thinking fellow Americans who are as
frustrated as I am, with the insanity we see daily, from our so-called
leaders. Where these people learned their leadership and budgeting
skills from is beyond my ability to understand. What happens in
California to put these folks in office is astounding when we see how
pathetic their elected officials perform and yet still profess to be on
their constituents side concerning all the important issues. I feel for
any conservatives who have to reside in that place. I could only stand
one year of it on my last tour as I promptly submitted my retirement
letter after 28 years of real service. Not the self-serving, lucrative,
and gravy train filled service our politicians experience when they get
their 100% retirement after serving one term. Must be nice to make the
rules and then flourish by them.

    God Bless you guys,
