Imposing The Gay Agenda On Hospitals

A liberal sent me a message the other day: “The reason why gays want to get married is because it represents something concrete and allows them the same rights as straight couples. The government at this point does not recognize gay marriage as marriage, which has led to many problems.”

It isn’t so much a case of the government not recognizing gay “marriage” as marriage as it is a case of the government not recognizing a word to mean something other than its definition.

But, without even realizing it, the liberal had identified the problem all on his own: the government. He was probably so accustomed to hearing the media and his elected officials praise government that it didn’t occur to him that the government could ever be the source of his ills. (Speaking of, did you hear President Obama over the weekend at Ohio State University promising the low-information graduates there is no reason to be wary of government because it is a benevolent force that they’d all do well to trust unquestionably and let into their lives?)

So the liberal identified the problem but did not recognize it. And what’s the very simple solution to his problem? If we got the government out of the habit of recognizing marriages gay or normal, since it is from nothing that the government derives its asserted authority on the matter, the liberal would have nothing to complain about.

He went on to voice his complaint over hospitals’ visitation policies and that there should be laws to force hospitals to allow gay couples visitation rights. (But don’t worry; liberalism isn’t akin to fascism or anything.)

Why do liberals seek to impose their wills on private entities? A hospital is a business and should be run however its owner wants it run. If it were not a business, it would not make any profit, and without profit it would not be able to better itself, expand its services, and thus help more people.

When I told this to the liberal, he suggested I want gay people to die. Liberals only know how to use their emotions, which is why they can jump to such extremes in arguing.

And finally the liberal made this sarcastic point:

“If a gay person has to go to the hospital if they’re in a car crash and unconscious or something, they could just ask the ambulance driver [to] take [him] to a hospital that allows gay visitors. Oh wait. They’re unconscious. They should have to die alone because the staff won’t let their partner in.”

In such emergency situations, it is typical hospital policy only to allow family into the ER. A “partner” is not family, by law. (Again, get government out of marriage and just treat marriages as a legal contracts and this problem vanishes.)

But still, I considered his point and pictured myself in such a scenario. I don’t like the idea of my wife being unable to visit me if I’m on my deathbed. But I also don’t like the idea of the government imposing its will, whether it’s a liberal will or a conservative will, on a private entity.

So I have resolved to do the following the next time I move to a new area, and I advise liberals do the same: I will take it upon myself to find out the visitation policy of the hospitals in whatever candidate city my family and I will have nominated to settle into in the future, and if I don’t like the hospitals’ visitation policies, I will choose somewhere else to live. Taking responsibility really isn’t difficult.

The liberal argument about hospitals keeping "partners" from seeing each other is not merely idiotic, its a bald-faced lie. I *am* a physician. Guess what I'm going to do if the long-term partner of my gay patient wants to see him? The exact same thing I'd do if the long-term partner of my straight patient wants to visit: I'll bring him in. Period, end of story. Every colleague I've put this question to has not merely said the same thing, but treated the very fact that the question has to be asked as ridiculous.

It's just another fabrication to increase the hatred of those who oppose homosexuality. This time around the Doctors and hospital officials are the targets of the gay agenda in their attempt to conjure up more sympathy for their cause.

      • http://twitter.com/DumDumDog Dum Dum Dog

the hate for gays is not fabricated ... we can see it you your wording

        • patriotusa2

I never said it was, but I do believe it's more of a repulsion that an actual hate. As far as being able to see it in my wording - the world needs you if you have the ability to foresee that with those simple comments.

        • http://twitter.com/DumDumDog Dum Dum Dog

" repulsion" i guess that just makes you a bigot :)

Why do you think your repulsion should impact other peoples lives ? why do you think gays need less right than you because of your repulsion ?

        • patriotusa2

Look with a name like "Dum Dum Dog," you can think whatever you like. I just wish the name "gay" had not been adopted as it really doesn't define the situation at hand.

        • http://www.facebook.com/sharon.taylor.50746 Sharon Taylor

And you display ;your own hatred for anyone who says anything contrary to your beliefs.

I'm an RN, and you're 100% right. With rare exceptions, there are NO restrictions on who can visit a patient in the hospital. (See my response above.) A gay patient can have any visitors he wants. Of course, a patient MAY ask for no visitors, and we do enforce that if that's the patient's wish. Gays don't have any special right to FORCE their way into areas of the hospital where straights would also not be allowed. And if a gay is disruptive to care, he'll get tossed out, same as if a straight person was interfering with care.

    • Shermer

Of course you'd let him visit. But what happens when a life-threatening issue arises and a decision needs to be made on behalf of the patient? What do you do, as a physician, if the law that prevents them being married also prevents that decision being made?

      • Garwoodv6

Ever heard of a Physician's Directive?
        Power of Attorney?
Simple solutions to a trumped-up smokescreen promulgated by the gay "rights" drum-beaters.

        • Shermer

Does the physician's directive require the doctor's consent? If he doesn't approve of their relationship, is he legally obliged to allow their request?
Why should a couple have to go to the trouble and expense of a power of attorney when they could get married instead?

        • Garwoodv6

It's easier than marriage... and more concise.
A Physician's Directive is actually a Directive TO the Physician, written by the patient, naming the specific details (i.e. "Do Not Resuscitate") and the person the patient assigns to present this Directive. witnessed, notarized, et.al. A/R. It is how we informed the doctor of my neighbor ( a very dear "grandfather" to me) that this is how he wanted to go, and who he left with the decision to present it at the time I deemed appropriate to respect his wishes should his condition become terminal: he was 87 and suffered a serious heart attack, but didn't die until irreversible complications developed a week later, at which time I presented the relevant documents to the physicians.
But why ask me -whan all you do is call my statements into question?
          Look it up yourself, dumb-ass.

        • Shermer

I asked because you seemed to know what you were talking about. It was an honest question, and I appreciate your answer, but I'm sorry to have angered you and wasted your time.

separate but equal did not work for blacks... why should it be any different for gays ???

Breaking News! The gays now have a new bacterial disease from doing all those strange things to recta. This one kills them in a week; none of that slow death stuff. The problem may yet solve itself.

Why doesn't anyone ever ask about how a person becomes gay? Too many just assume that this is an uncontrollable orientation that has become equal to one's race, ethnicity or gender (born with, innate and unchangeable)!
You that accept this false idea have been brainwashed by homosexuals who have carefully and very quietly invaded our legal system by including the BEHAVIOR (sexual orientation) as a characterization that must be added on to every "do not discriminate" law of every stripe!

There is no simple, single CAUSE for sexual orientation that has been conclusively demonstrated, but research suggests that it is by a combination of genetic, hormonal, and environmental influences, with biological factors involving a complex interplay of genetic factors
    and the early uterine environment.

Rooted in biology or not, there is a difference between gender, ethnicity, and "orientation." Orientation consists primarily of—is lived out through—desire. And the fact that it involves
desire means it is subject to moral evaluation in a way that "being male" or "being black" are not.

Here is what's often missed: neither the fact of the desire, nor its possible biological basis, gives it moral legitimacy.

There are several assumptions behind the idea that a person with same-sex attraction might say "I am a homosexual" in the same way someone might say "I am a male" or "I am black."

First, one assumes that homosexual desires are rooted in biology and therefore a natural part of being human. Second, one assumes that our natural desires are basically good, so long as they don't hurt others.

Third, one assumes that fulfilling such basic and good desires are part of being fully human.

All the talk about "equality" depends upon these foundational assumptions about what it means to be human.

Shouldn't our moral calculations for human beings involve something more than assent to the biochemistry of desire? We are more than animals. We are souls and bodies.

We are created in God's image. To legitimize homosexual desire simply because it's natural or biological, ironically, is to treat a person as less than human.

hmmm, if being gay is biologically based and a person cannot help themselves, then being violent towards threats is biologically based and i cannot be held responsible ... think about it.

i thought about it ... makes you an ass thinking hurting people is the same thing as making love to some one .. you are a monster or an idiot to mix up the two ...

I'm an RN, and have worked in hospitals for over 40 years. Gays bring up this "being allowed to visit their partners" as a Red Herring. Fact is, ANYONE can visit a patient in a hospital. However, for the benefit of the patient, there ARE some restrictions. In an ER, the patient is unstable, and visitors clutter up the place, making medical treatment very difficult, and that COULD kill the patient. Once the patient is stable, they are taken up to a room, and THEN visitors may see the patient. But, again, there are some exceptions. You're NOT going to be allowed to go into surgery with the patient, for example, and you MAY be asked to step outside the room while some sort of procedure is being performed. Also, patients with infectious diseases may have restrictions, to protect both the visitors AND the people outside the room that those visitors may then go out and infect. (You DON'T want to hang around in a room with a patient with Necrotizing Fasciitis (Flesh Eating Bacteria), for example. But these few restrictions are applied across the board, and also affect straight couples as well. So, what's the REAL agenda going on here? Well, it's just one more chomp into society, to force society to accept gays as "normal" (they're NOT). Fact is, gays don't want "EQUAL" rights; they want "SPECIAL RIGHTS!!!!" They want more rights than straight couples get. Gays, get your noses out of hospitals. The people in there are sick, and we're trying our best to save their lives. We DON'T need any political activists endangering everyone in the hospital. You don't get to do that! Not on my watch. And if that's not OK with you, I'll be happy to retire, and YOU can do what I do for a living. I PROMISE you that you won't like it!

    • George J

I will back up everything you said. I've spent more than my fair share of time in hospitals - both as a visitor to friends and family and as, well... a consumer of services, so to speak! I have never seen anyone refused admittance to see a patient in a hospital based solely on the fact that that person was not a "relation" to the patient.

In fact, my boss was able to visit me IN THE ER (with no family member present) while I was being diagnosed with a minor heart attack!

You're absolutely correct it is simply a Red Herring!

      • Garwoodv6

The Gay movement and their minions got this wild idea about denial of access to lived ones in the hospital from Hollywood...
"It must be true- I saw it on T.V.!!!

So now the "useful idiots" in the Gay sector go out parroting this misconception as fact. It isn't true at all. It's all theater. IMHO, it's a childish response searching for reasons to take exception -or claim unfair treatment if an exception to their childish expectations are denied- regardless of the sound reasons their request is denied.

The doctors and staff are dedicated to the patients' welfare first before attempting to balance the wishes of the patients' family, loved ones, or friends. Common sense trumps emotion in cases like this.

I took my 87 yr. old neighbor to the E.R. after discovering him laying near death after a fall in his bathroom. We were not related, but were very close: we had a surrogate Grandfather/grandson relationship for the 17 years we were neighbors. Depending upon his condition, sometimes I was permitted to see him while other times I was not. I was treated no differently than all the (many, many) times I had been to the hospital for/with my own father (for multiple heart attacks, 2 bypass surgeries, 2 stents, countless catheterizations, and lastly a heart transplant).

Many Doctors now are HOMOSEXUALS and YOU should beware that they are ALSO PEDOPHILES so do NOT leave them alone with your children!!!

The gays have hijacked the 'marriage' word. Used to be civil unions, but that is not good enough for them. This is part of their agenda to make easier for them to get their hands on children. Suggest that anytime 'marriage' is used that the source be contacted and explained there is NO such thing as gay marriage; civil unions, yes - marriage NO.

    • http://twitter.com/DumDumDog Dum Dum Dog

marriage existed before your religion did ... so who hijacked what word ???

  • http://www.facebook.com/eric.why.94 Eric Why

ooops, you just confused the issue with the R word. its a concept that these liberals are allergic to.

  • mathis1689

Beg to differ with the author. Taking responsibility is not just difficult for liberals;it's almost impossible. After all when you believe that government exists to fix all of your problems then why should you take any responsibility for them at all?

  • SSMcDonald

This is not the first time I have sent you this same message; I suspect
maybe you people are deliberately being part of the problem:

The use of the euphemism “gay” helps to spread unacceptable evil by glossing over what it really is; (homosexuality) making the term "gay" acceptable in the thinking of the uneducated masses.

ALWAYS use the correct terminology: pervert, homosexual, deviant, queer, or sodomite. CEASE using the evil terminology, “gay;” you only promote the spread of his agenda.

    • Miko

      Male homosexuality involves poo poo.

Can we please stop referring to homosexuals as anything other than that? The word "Gay" has been corrupted by these nasty people and their deviant behavior.

  • Miko

Anyone who is not married and just shacking up , gay or normal , cannot sign consents or get personal information about their partner/ housemate. However all these people have to do is sign a medical power of attorney ( POA) for each other. By doing this they now have legal authority to make medical decisions.
Homosexual couples just need to get a power of attorney for each other. Then the case is closed. I am an RN and always tell gays to get the power of attorney. I don't know why they are ignorant of this.

    • Garwoodv6

The gays are ignorant because they are listening to the drumbeat of the "Gay Rights Activists" -who have ulterior motives instead .

      • http://twitter.com/DumDumDog Dum Dum Dog

I think religious people have ulterior motives when wanting to curtail the rights of other humans based on how they love ... your religion does not own the idea of marriage ....

      • ARMYOF69

Homosexuals I have known [ not in the biblical sense , please ] in my long life where never ignorant. In general I would say they are probably more clever than most heteros.

b/c that's not good enough for them. Jim Nabors of Gomer Pyle USMC fame just recently " married" his male shackup of over 20 yrs in Washington state since his home state of Hawaii doesnt have it. IF this is true or not..and oh how i hope it isnt, but Ted Nugent just " came out of the closet" I bet you catch alot of hell from homosexuals b/c of Anyone who is not married and just shacking up , gay or normal , cannot
sign consents or get personal information about their partner/
housemate, they prolly wanna toss around the "we are being discriminated against" bs and like you said: However all these people have to do is sign a medical power
of attorney ( POA) for each other. By doing this they now have legal
      authority to make medical decisions.
