Protection or Plunder? Whole Foods and New York City

I wanted to like this Associated Press story because, in theory, it is about the government doing what the government is supposed to do. It is supposed to punish fraud. I was actually prepared to say something nice about New York City’s government–a rare event for any government but especially in the case of the Big Apple. Sadly, there are enough doubts raised in the story that I can’t be so positive. In fact, looking at another news story, I think this amounts to blackmail with AP only reporting Read more […]

Restaurant Employee Shoots Masked Gunman. Will He Be Charged?

I wouldn’t be surprised if this armed employee is fired by the restaurant because he as carrying a weapon. Most businesses make their property a gun-free zone at least as far as employees are concerned. Whether or not he was supposed to do so, this restaurant employee was prepared. The Sun-Sentinel reports, “Masked gunman shot dead by restaurant employee.” The tables turned for a masked gunman when he was shot and killed by an employee of the Miramar restaurant he attempted to rob, police said. Just Read more […]

Should a Pastor Teach that It is Wrong For Christians to Defend Themselves?

I suppose John Piper will object to my interpretation of his essay, “Should Christians Be Encouraged to Arm Themselves?” If so, he is self-deceived. The point of this long essay is to tell Christians they should not possess firearms and the secondary point is to deny that he is not telling Christians that they should not possess firearms. The reason he touched on the subject, he tells us, is because he didn’t like the words of Jerry Falwell, Jr., telling his students to arm themselves. I Read more […]

Should People on the No-Fly List Be Permitted to Drive?

Reuters reports, “Oregon woman held in Las Vegas Strip sidewalk rampage drove with license suspended.” An Oregon woman who killed one woman and injured at least 35 pedestrians when she plowed her car into crowds on a Las Vegas Strip sidewalk on Sunday evening was driving on a suspended license, authorities said on Monday. Lakeisha N. Holloway, 24, who was homeless and had been living in her sedan with her toddler, gave herself up to officers a short distance from the scene of the carnage. She parked Read more […]

Judge Doesn’t Have a Problem with Harvesting Baby Parts

If you haven’t yet realized our country is ruled by bloodthirsty psychopaths, here’s another piece of evidence. An Associated Press story ran with the tagline, “Judge: No evidence of crimes in recordings of abortion group.” Recordings secretly made by an anti-abortion group at meetings of abortion providers do not show criminal activity and could put the providers at risk, a federal judge said Friday, citing the recent shooting at a Colorado Planned Parenthood clinic. U.S. District Judge William Read more […]

Behind the “Chemical Erection Warrant” was a Real Crime

Back in July 2014 Mark Horne wrote about “the porn police state.” According to the Washington Post, the cops want to force a seventeen-year-old to have an erection and then photograph his aroused genitals. They want to do this because they suspect that the seventeen-year-old took a picture of his erection and sent it to his girlfriend via texting—“sexting” as it is now called. A judge actually granted that warrant, though it has not yet been executed. It never was executed because there Read more […]

Guest Post: Protect the Citizens or the Terrorists?

The week before last, a terrorist couple slaughtered fourteen people and injured twenty-one others in San Bernardino, California. Shooter Tashfeen Malik, a Pakistani citizen and the wife of the other shooter, Syed Farook, entered the United States with a K-1 visa which had an inaccurate address. Evidence shows that they both committed to “jihad” and “martyrdom” at least two years ago. Somehow our government didn’t discover this, and Malik was admitted into the U.S. and later given a green Read more […]

Washington Post: Marco Rubio Is Right on Gun Control

On December 4, Marco Rubio was on CBS This Morning. He made the following statement: “None of the major shootings that have occurred in this country over the last few months or years that have outraged us, would gun laws have prevented them.” I am pretty shocked by the Washington Post’s reaction. “Fact Checker” Glenn Kessler carefully went through all the shootings beginning with Sandy Hook. [See also, “Obama Admits San Bernardino Shooting MIGHT Be Terrorism, but Is Sure of Gun Control.”] A Read more […]

How the Ruling Class Trains Disarmed Sheep to be Slaughtered

Not everyone needs to be armed. People are free to choose. In certain situations a gun can save your life. The question you have to ask yourself is how likely is it that you’re going to be in that situation. If you are broke and haven’t been raised in gun culture you’re looking at a commitment of time and money to purchase a gun and to make sure you don’t endanger yourself or others with a gun. Right now, gun violence is not common–not even as common as it used to be. Getting a gun is like buying Read more […]

Love Your Neighbor as Yourself in a Mass Shooting

While it is horrible that the victims in the San Bernardino shooting were unarmed and vulnerable, so that fifteen were killed by merely two shooters, it is important to remember courage and self-sacrifice in the face of death. Yesterday, this showed up in my Facebook feed: While Facebook memes are not something I would consider reliable, this one could be easily verified. For example, the New York Post reports, “San Bernardino survivor calls victim Shannon Johnson ‘her hero’” When Read more […]

What Is the “Greatest Fear” of the Attorney General?

After the President’s wishful thinking about “workplace violence” (in stark contrast to the Liberal response to the shooting at a Colorado Planned Parenthood” clinic), the government has admitted that the San Bernardino shooting was an act of terrorism. It is no surprise that the Attorney General of the United States is especially worried about violence. What is surprising is what Loretta Lynch said, the day after the San Bernardino shooting, is her “greatest fear.” She was asked about anti-Muslim Read more […]

‘Workplace Violence’ Crashes Planned Parenthood Pity Party

It’s been a week for juxtapositions, that’s for sure. First, a lone nut with a history of philandering, spousal abuse, drug usage, animal abuse and sexual deviancy, who seems to have had no contact with any church or any pro-life group, kills people near a Planned Parenthood clinic, utters the phrase “no more baby parts” and becomes an oxymoronic symbol for “Christian terrorism.” Then a married Muslim couple who recently spent a month in Saudi Arabia, who officials say had been “radicalized” Read more […]
