Obama Piles on as Tensions Build With Russia

obamaPen Leave it to President Obama to say the wrong thing at the wrong moment. Following Turkey's shooting down of a Russian plane on its way to attack ISIS in Syria, Obama said Tuesday at a press conference with French President Hollande that "Turkey like every country has a right to defend its territory and air space." He then added, "I think it is very important for us to right now make sure that both the Russians and the Turks are talking to each other and find out exactly what happened, and take Read more [...] Continue reading →

Global Warming -- Reducing it Carries a Big Price Tag

globalwarming_main_198896 The fight to reduce global warming is on the agendas of all the major countries in the world, and doing so carries a big price tag.  As the larger developed countries joined in discussions on this topic with developing nations, no arrangements were made regarding how the expense would be covered. Shikha Delmia wrote about the situation in A Third World revolt in Bonn, Germany, this week almost derailed the Paris climate change negotiations in November.  The revolt was triggered Read more [...] Continue reading →

2014 Best Year Yet? But Not Best Ever!

ScienceStars The Telegraph reports that 2014 our best year in some ways. I am impressed that Drudge made this story his top headline. He was right to do so. Fraser Nelson writes in the Telegraph: “Good-bye to One of the Best Years in History.” Judging the world through headlines is like judging a city by spending a night in A&E – you only see the worst problems. This may have felt like the year of Ebola and Isil but in fact, objectively, 2014 has probably been the best year in history. Take Read more [...] Continue reading →

Obama Administration Counters Russian Troops With Selfies

UkraineSelfie Remember the old joke about bringing a knife to a gunfight? Apparently, the Obama Administration can't even manage that much in response to Russia. As Vladimir Putin has massed up to 100,000 troops on the Ukraine border, the latest U.S. counteroffensive is ... wait for it ... a selfie from the State Department. State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki is catching online flak for sending a picture of herself via Twitter flashing a thumbs-up while holding a sign that reads "UnitedforUkraine @StateDeptSpox." Putin Administration to Obama: You Hit Like a Girl

JohnKerry The Obama Administration's "sanctions" against Russia for the Crimean referendum over the weekend are, as expected, just plain embarrassing. In case you missed it, Crimeans voted overwhelmingly to secede from Ukraine and join Russia over the weekend, and Russian President Vladimir Putin didn't even have to register dead people to do it. Oddly enough, people in that part of the globe seem to like Putin and Russia. As scheduled last week, that referendum result led President Obama to swing with Read more [...] Continue reading →

Another International Crisis, Another Line in the Sand

obama putin 2 Hang on to your bar stools, the Obama Administration is talking tough again. Secretary of State John Kerry warned Moscow of "serious" repercussions if weekend negotiations on the fate of Ukraine don't yield some positive results. And he means it. Really. Really, really. Aw, c'mon stop laughing. The Obama Administration has lost virtually all international credibility at this point. Whenever Kerry or President Obama tries to play John Wayne, Russian President Vladimir Putin just Read more [...] Continue reading →

Obama Policies Driving Arab States Toward Russia

PutinObama Anger among Arab states over the Obama Administration's deal with Iran is just the latest spur driving them into Russia's circle. In an interview with The Telegraph, Sheikh Salman bin Hamad al-Khalifa, the Crown Prince of Bahrain, said the United States' influence in the region would dwindle if the Obama Administration persisted in its "schizophrenic" foreign policy. Al-Khalifa said that ever since President Obama's embarrassing performance in failing to gain support for war in Syria allowed Read more [...] Continue reading →

U.S. Allies Run to U.N. for Protection -- From Us

09052012ObamaHandOverMouth Remember all those promises from Barack Obama and all his liberal supporters about how Obama was going to improve America's image around the world? The story line was that Bush was so disrespected because of picking on the harmless little ol' Muslim terrorists and their friends that America was just the outcast, the lone wolf of the world's governments, feared by our enemies and grudgingly respected by our allies. (That's actually called being a leader, but let's not quibble.) Look how far Read more [...] Continue reading →

French Court Upholds Fraud Conviction of Scientology

battlefield earth A French court of appeals upheld a fraud conviction against the Church of Scientology, confirming that the organization (relegated to cult status in France) had manipulated and deceived its followers into paying money for its dubious services. Stopping short of shutting down the French wing of Scientology, the conviction requires that nearly a million dollars be paid out to at least two French victims of fraud for various activities limited to the 1990s. Representatives for the Church of Scientology, Read more [...] Continue reading →

Romney was Right about Russia and Obama Was Wrong

Russia In their third presidential debate, President Obama ridiculed Mitt Romney when he said that Russia remained a threat to the United States. Here’s what Obama said in the debate: PRESIDENT OBAMA: “Governor Romney, I’m glad that you recognize that al-Qaida’s a threat because a few months ago when you were asked, what’s the biggest geopolitical threat facing America, you said Russia — not al-Qaida, you said Russia. And the 1980s are now calling to ask for their foreign policy back because, Read more [...] Continue reading →

Millions US Dollars ‘At Risk Of Waste, Fraud, Abuse’

Usaid If you’ve ever wondered if US aid to other countries is used the way it’s intended to be used, wonder no further.  It seems that once the money has been handed over that it’s anyone’s guess who gets it and what it’s really used for.  A good example is the millions of dollars sent to help health programs in Afghanistan. In a recent report by the Office of the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR), millions of US dollars intended for Afghan health programs Read more [...] Continue reading →

Germany Guilty of Terrorism?

Dirk and Petra Wunderlich Last week, I shared with you the terrifying experience of Wunderlich family in Darmstadt, Germany.  Early in the morning just as their four kids were starting their school lessons, twenty police and government agents armed with assault weapons and battering ram appeared at the family’s home with a court order to take the kids by force if necessary.  Social workers that accompanied the police took custody of the Wunderlich children and informed the parents that there was no telling when they might Read more [...] Continue reading →
