Christians Being Wiped Out in the Middle East and White House Doesn’t Care

While Secretary of State John Kerry is out touring Africa warning them about living according to the Bible, Christians are being persecuted and killed in the Middle East and the Administration looks the other way. In some ways, a bipartisan federal commission, as reported by Fox News, confirms the basic story that we have been telling here on Political Outcast.com.

Christians are under siege in the Middle East, and the Obama administration is not doing enough to stop religious persecution by its allies, according to a new report from a bipartisan federal commission.

The report, from the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom, faulted usual suspects Iran, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, as well as North Korea. The number of Christians in the Middle East has plunged to just 10 percent of the overall population from more than 25 percent in 2011.

“While the Obama administration should continue to shine a spotlight on abuses through public statements, it also should impose targeted sanctions to demonstrate that there are consequences, too,” Dwight Bashir, the commission’s deputy director of policy and research, told FoxNews.com. “By not utilizing an existing legislative tool, the United States risks sending the message that it prefers a nuclear deal to standing up for the rights of the Iranian people. The United States should not be confronting such a scenario in the first place.”

While I think this is all true, I also find their selection of targets to be strange. Iraq is barely mentioned. It seems that stories that draw our attention to what the Bush Administration wrought in that country (which, of course, Obama did nothing to improve) is outside the aims and objectives of this bipartisan commission. No one wants to remember that we took a secular dictatorship with enforced tolerance and turned it into a Shiite Sunni perpetual civil war where Christians are no longer safe.

Worse, Syria is not mentioned at all. But that is where Christians are being slaughtered by forces that the U.S. is responsible for unleashing. Our efforts to oust Bashar al-Assad have even resulted in an Al Qaeda state in Northern Syria.

Still, the report presents critical information, especially about our ally Saudi Arabia.  Sadly, unless the mainstream media really decides to push this information, I doubt it will do much to change U.S. policy.
