Common Core Teaches Human Rights – United Nations Style

The list of concerns over the Common Core Standards is growing.  First there were the reports about recommended reading material for high school students that was pure pornography.  One book glorified rape, incest and pedophilia.

Then I wrote about how Common Core discriminates against students from low-income homes.  Nationwide Common Core testing involves computer typing skills.  Kids as young as 9 years of age are expected to be able to type one full page in the writing section of a test.  Fifth graders are required to type two full pages.  Yet millions of kids come from low-income families (and the number is growing daily) that can’t afford computers or internet.  Many of these kids are smart and could excel at school and life if given a fair chance, but Common Core will grade them on their typing skills which these kids do not have a chance to practice.

I had the feeling that the Common Core Standards were created by many of the same liberal progressives that already control the public education system and the latest issue helps confirm that.  It seems students are going to be taught the values of the United Nations and not the values of what made America great.

The mother of a fifth grade girl was upset when she learned that her daughter was being taught all about human rights from the United Nations viewpoint. One of the Common Core lesson plans involves spending several weeks studying the United Nations.  During that time, the students learned about human rights UN style.

Gwendolyn Britt was reviewing her daughter’s vocabulary assignment, which is something every parent should be doing; when she became aware of the UN influence her daughter was being taught.  The assignment wanted the students to use vocabulary words to explain what human rights were.  Her daughter wrote:

“Human rights are rights articulated by the government to uphold this country in shape. These rules are inalienable. They protect our country. The human rights are one of the most important rights ever. I think they hold this country together.”

The teacher awarded the girl full credit for her answer.  Britt said this is wrong and sat down to explain to her daughter what human rights really are and from where they came from. She also plans to address the issue with the teacher.  In an interview with EAGNews, Britt said:

“Human rights are natural rights or God-given rights because you exist, not because they were doled out to you by your government.  The government works for you – it does not determine your humanity.”

Britt is referring to the second paragraph of the Declaration of Independence which states:

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

Many members of our current Congress, including Rep. Nancy Pelosi and Sen. Harry Reid have publicly stated that the government will determine what rights the people have.  The United Nations has also taken that stand and believes that they can dictate their liberal and socialist policies to every country on earth including the United States.

What Americans need to learn is that following that statement in the Declaration of Independence it says:

“That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, –That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.”

Our current government has become destructive to the lives and liberties of the American people and leave them little to pursue in the way of happiness.  It is time to abolish our current government and return it to the way our Founding Fathers intended it to be – based upon the laws and principles given to us by Almighty God.  And before any of you bleeding heart liberals say anything, let me remind you that our Founding Fathers quoted from and referred to the Bible over more than 4 times that of any other source.  And if you try to use Black’s Law as your defense, I strongly urge you to do some research and you will learn that this was largely based upon biblical principles as well.

The Common Core Standards have one purpose in mind and that is to help brainwash an entire generation into the liberal socialist agenda running rampant in our schools and our government.  Proverbs 22:6 says:

“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.”

That’s exactly what the public schools and the Common Core Standards are doing, but they are training them in the wrong way to go, not God’s way.  This is why I am such a strong opponent to public schools and recommend private, Christian or home schooling if at all possible.  If it is not possible, then parents need to be spending time every night with their kids, going over what they are being taught and then teaching them what’s true and God’s way.  Teach them that our inalienable rights come from God, not men or the government.  Watch and protect your kids for the sake of their eternal future.
