Conservative Christian Politician is a Former Homosexual

And we can expect he won’t be the last former homosexual whose story will offend Liberals.

People get sexually confused for all sorts of reasons. In my opinion Bob Dixon’s explanation of why he did what he did is really not that important. What is important is that a man who was sinning in his youth repented and followed the way of the Lord.

The media hates him for this and tries to spin the story to make it look as bad as possible. Thus, the KDSK headline, “Conservative MO lawmaker says child abuse made him gay — for 5 years.”

It seems the writer of this story finds Dixon’s explanation implausible.

The campaign for governor hopeful Sen. Bob Dixon issued a statement regarding “teenage confusion” that Dixon’s mother says led him to live as a homosexual for five years.

Dixon, who stressed his conservative values in announcing his candidacy for governor last week, said he was the victim of abuse as a child, and this abuse led to the confusion he felt about his sexuality as a teenager, according to a press release from his campaign.

“I have put the childhood abuse, and the teenage confusion behind me,” said Dixon, R-Springfield, who has a wife and three children. “What others intended for harm has resulted in untold good. I have overcome, and will not allow evil to win.”

Even though I don’t think it matters that much, I’m not sure why people find it implausible. Even if one defies science and believes that some people have a “gay gene” or whatever, who is to say that everyone who participates in the behavior does so for that reason? In fact, nothing has ever been found that is only present in homosexuals or only present in heterosexuals to explain why they choose different sexual practices. It seems obvious to me that if someone gets groomed at the right age by the use of pornography and perhaps drugs or alcohol, that a homosexual seduction might indeed change his or her path. Also, even liberal pro-homosexuals admit that people change their sexual practices. (Part of the problem is that when a person changes from heterosexual to homosexual, it is always considered “coming out” as if he or she has always been “gay” and are just now revealing it. I understand this terminology for people who were doing homosexual acts in secret, but the term is used for other situations. In that case “being gay” is a bit like the transgender urban legend of “being the opposite sex” on the “inside” and not “identifying” with the sex that you really are.

I suppose the possibility of disorienting young men or women through traumatic sexual experiences must be denied in order to pretend there is no reason to be outraged that organizations like Boy Scouts are now hiring homosexual males. But it is still just common sense.

It is also weird that Dixon’s political opponents are acting as if there is something wrong with him being a homosexual. I thought Liberals believed everyone could be whatever they felt like. Are they claiming (despite the common knowledge that people switch from homosexual to heterosexual) that this represents some kind of disloyalty? Is Dixon guilty of “defection”?

In the release, Dixon said it would be disappointing if his political opponents tried to use his past against him.

“There are people who to this day try to turn politics into a blood sport. This sort of approach discourages many good people from public service. While it is disappointing, I will have no fear of those who wish to tear down others for their gain. I will have no part of it,” Dixon said in the release.

If you live in Missouri, please consider Dixon. I don’t know enough about him to be sure that he is the best candidate, but he seems quite honorable in what he is doing and saying on this issue.

There have always been faithful, forgiven, and holy Christians with a past like that of Dixon. The Apostle Paul mentions them in one of his early letters:

Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God (1 Corinthians 6:9-11 ESV).

One thing that is going to happen as more people are seduced into homosexuality is that more of those same people are going to wake up, repent, and turn back to the image of God, which was created as male and female. As this happens more often, the myth of homosexuality being a fixed desire is going to appear even more untenable.
