Dad Arrested For “Illegal Possession of BB Gun”

The only thing this guy is guilty of is being naïve. He brought his kids and a toy BB gun with plastic pellets to a park in Queens. He should have known, especially since he was in Mayor Bloomberg’s territory and Andrew Cuomo’s state, that people there have been brainwashed into believing that anything that looks like a gun is evil.

Not surprisingly, a couple moms there at the playground freaked out when they saw Mr. Pawlowski showing his kids how to shoot plastic pellets out of plastic toy gun. He even let his 3-year-old hold it.

One of the outraged moms said she confronted Pawlowski. “I mean, he’s brandishing a firearm, and I don’t care if that firearm is plastic. That’s unacceptable,” she said.

Brandishing a firearm? It wasn’t even a real BB gun. And she had to have been able to see that it wasn’t real since she saw the man shoot at a tree before showing one of his kids how to use it.

When this particular mom wasn’t able to get other moms outraged, she decided to call the police and City Councilman Peter Vallone. “This is really a way to educate people,” Vallone said. (I think the word he’s looking for is “brainwash.”) He warned:  “You cannot run around with a realistic looking gun. It’s against the law, and you could get arrested and actually go to jail.”

And that’s just what happened when one of the moms called the cops. By the time they had arrived to the park, Pawlowski and his kids had left. But, that was OK. The mom had taken a cellphone photo of the dad shooting a tree with the fake, plastic pellet gun. She posted that photo to her “queensmamas” website.

Apparently, it was enough to lead police to Pawlowski’s residence, where he was arrested while his wife and three kids looked on. He was charged with reckless endangerment, endangering the welfare of a minor, resisting arrest, and possession of an illegal BB gun.

Now, I wouldn’t do anything like this, not because I have a problem with toy guns that shoot plastic balls, but because I don’t want to go to jail. We don’t live in the 50’s anymore when people didn’t care about these kinds of things. We’re not in the free country we used to have. Nowadays, it’s “see something, say something.” Police and government officials are fostering a nation of paranoid snitches.

I think this level of paranoia is exactly what Eric Holder had in mind when he said very sincerely that we needed to brainwash kids about guns. Well, those kids are growing up to be moms who believe they are doing everyone a public service by getting these innocent people and their toy guns off the streets.
