No Diversity On TV Allowed: Christians Need Not Apply

A show like Duck Dynasty is a rarity in reality TV or on any kind of TV. If you look at your shows you find very few that present a Christian or conservative character in a positive light.

What you do find are plenty of adulterers or fornicators of some kind. The idea that sexual morality would mean not having sex outside of marriage is a foreign concept to most of the TV shows that are broadcast. Furthermore, if there is someone who is portrayed as having that belief, that character is often a nutjob.

So you would think that the reality TV world could stand to have another Christian or two.

Not so. From Breitbart.com:

Deadline reports that HGTV has pulled a home-flipping reality series after receiving pressure from the leftist Right Wing Watch. The Benham brothers were set to star in “Flip It Forward” until Right Wing Watch reported Tuesday that the Christian brothers opposed homosexuality and abortion:

David Benham had led a prayer rally outside of the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, NC in 2012, in which he told conservative radio host Janet Mefferd that America’s Christian majority must repent for tolerating  “homosexuality and its agenda that is attacking the nation” and “demonic ideologies tak[ing] our universities and our public school systems.” He also said his brother had joined him in the prayer protest. The group also claimed David leads protests outside of abortion clinics.

So, in case you didn’t get the memo already, there is no place for you in our national entertainment media. They slipped with the Duck Dynasty and are now stuck because the show is so successful. But they aren’t going to let that happen again. From now on, if they get the idea that you are a real Christian with real Christian commitments, they are going to cancel whatever venue you thought you could get on TV.

That’s just the way it is. They can’t have a show featuring Christians because they have so many other people they want to push into your face. People who are all the same.
