Dr. Kermit Gosnell was convicted of brutally murdering several babies that were born alive. The jurors who heard the case had to endure the testimony of how Gosnell took the live babies and shoved a pair of scissors into the back of the neck and then cut the spinal cord. The babies did not die instantly. It took seconds to a minute for them to die from heart failure and suffocation.
The jurors also heard testimony of how he and his staff allowed a woman to bleed profusely for nearly five hours before calling for emergency services to take her to a nearby hospital. The emergency room doctors were unable to save the woman because she had lost so much blood due to the botched abortion and torn tissues in her body.
The jury found Gosnell guilty on most of the charges against him and he was subsequently sentenced to many years in prison that he will never see freedom again.
But the calloused and cold blooded murderer still has no remorse or guilt for his atrocities, which resembled those of doctors experimenting on Jews in the Nazi concentration camps. In fact, Gosnell still considers himself to be ‘spiritually innocent.’ In a recent interview with Philadelphia Magazine, Gosnell said:
“In an ideal world, we’d have no need for abortion. But bringing a child into the world when it cannot be provided for, that there are not sufficient systems to support, is a greater sin. I considered myself to be in a war against poverty, and I feel comfortable with the things I did and the decisions I made.”
Gosnell told the reporter that he spends most of his time reading his Bible, exercising and improving his Spanish language skills. I don’t understand how anyone can read the Bible and feel totally justified in murdering unborn and born babies. He may be reading the Bible, but I have serious doubts if the message is getting through to his seared conscience.
He claims that he was justified in what he did because he prevented those babies from growing up to a life of crime, gangs and poverty. He even wrote a poem in prison expressing his noble cause:
Are Labeled Killers!
Not Physicians, Oathed To Heal
Lest We Forget,
What Chance Have Those?
Those Without The Support
Of Their Parents
Their Societies …
Without Sufficient Support
Stumble Into Drugs
Into Mental Illness
Into Institutions … And …
Languish in Jails …
You can see just how warped Gosnell’s mind has become over the years. He automatically assumes that every baby that he murdered would have used drugs, commited crimes, suffered from mental illness and ended up in jail or mental institutions. Therefore, he was doing them and the world a favor by killing them before they ever had a chance.
Using Gosnell’s logic, you can justify euthanasia, saying that killing poor black babies, people with debilitating physical conditions and old people that become a burden on society. Gosnell would also include killing mentally ill people, drug addicts and criminals as well, if you read his poem. After all, if he can justify killing them before they become these things, then he can certainly justify killing them once they have become them.
Gosnell placed himself as judge, jury and executioner for hundreds of innocent lives and still believes he did the right thing. I can only hope that he becomes haunted by the souls of those he murdered and that they drive him to true repentance before it’s too late.
