OK, I’m really close to agreeing with Michael Savage that Liberalism/Progressivism is a mental disorder. Some people apparently live in a universe with endless rainbows, lollipops, and unicorns—a place where economic law is repealed, and no one needs to work for a living.
Miss Nevada, Nia Sanchez, was crowned Miss USA on Sunday night. During the pageant, Sanchez, who has a fourth-degree black belt in taekwondo, was asked a question about sexual assaults on college campuses. Sanchez suggested that women get training to learn how to defend themselves.
Guess what happened next.
For many, yes, the suggestion that women learn to defend themselves was a ridiculous idea, and it even constituted “victim blaming.”
Really? Seriously? Women attack a woman for saying it’s a good thing to learn self-defense to protect yourself from rape?
Suggesting people learn to defend themselves is NOT justifying the potential crime—it’s encouraging a little personal responsibility. The woman is never, never guilty for being raped. And Miss Nevada did not say she was. Learn to interpret English or it’s going to be a long, hard life out there.
Yeah, we all think it would be dandy if rapists didn’t rape, and murderers didn’t kill, and robbers didn’t steal, and politicians didn’t lie, but… to pretend as if that world can be brought about by “just say no” is a total, absolute, freaking fantasy!
Evil men do evil things. If you don’t prepare to defend yourself from evil—and in many cases vote it out of office—then you will be a victim, bank on it!
Yeah, we all hope nothing bad happens to you, but hope is not a strategy for living in this world where sin is a reality, and mere education is not the answer.
The “mental disorder” comment was birthed from great frustration. I am sorry. But I do think it’s fair to say Progressive ideals are borne from a hyper-extreme and unrealistic case of wishful thinking—grounded in an absolutely incorrect sociology.
The worldview is betrayed by a total misunderstanding of the nature of man as a fallen (sinful) image-bearer of God in absolute need of Divine forgiveness and restoration. Yes, we all long for the day when women will never again have to fear a rapist. That day is not now, and will never be on this side of the final restoration of all things. We need to live in the current fallen reality, not in the reality to come when God makes all things new.
