Lesson Of Vivek Hallegere Murthy: Lobbyists Don’t Control Gov; They ARE Gov–& Vice Versa

Barack Obama is appointing a new Surgeon General. I don’t know how to call stuff like this outrageous. “Outrageous” implies that something is outside the norm. But this IS the norm.

WASHINGTON (Reuters)President Barack Obama will nominate the head of a doctors group that promotes his signature healthcare law to be the next U.S. surgeon general, the White House said on Thursday, shortly after Obama proposed a “fix” for the latest problem with the law.

Vivek Hallegere Murthy, president of Doctors for America, will succeed Rear Admiral Boris Lushniak, who has been acting as the surgeon general since July, overseeing public health endeavors around the country, after Regina Benjamin completed her four-year term.

Doctors for America is a group of 15,000 physicians and medical students that has rallied behind Obamacare through participating in marches, filing an amicus brief in the Supreme Court case on the law, and even visiting the Republican National Convention to promote it, according to the group’s website.

In 2011 Obama appointed Murthy to an advisory group on prevention formed under the law, the White House said.

Of course, this leaves open the possibility that Murthy and hers fellow “Doctors for America” are a bunch of true-believing zealots.

My suspicion is that we will find plenty of government money, or industry money from the sector planning to profit off of Obamacare (the weight loss scam, for example) that were sponsoring this group. When you think about the complexities of society under the heal of Big Government, it gets impossible to figure out where the private sector ends and the public sector begins or vice versa.

Private interests mold government policy but government molds and manipulates private interest. Before too long, you can only watch the whirling dance without being able to tell whose leading. After awhile you finally begin to realize that it is a solo performance, not a couple.
