New Book Presses Case for Impeachment

Congress is almost completely spineless, and missing certain other manly body parts, so I doubt they will ever do anything, but… the author is correct: If we do not make the move now, it will

  1. Further embolden this lawless President for the remainder of his term, and
  2. Provide a framework for even greater lawlessness by a future President.

From the Washington Examiner: “‘Impeach Obama’ movement gains speed with new book on ‘lawlessness’

The underground effort by some conservatives to impeach President Obama for picking and choosing which laws to enforce is about to shift into a higher gear with a new book from a noted terrorism prosecutor detailing seven impeachable offenses on topics ranging from immigration to Obamacare.

In Faithless Execution, Andrew C. McCarthy makes the legal case to dump the president, but also hopes to build the political will in Congress and the nation to take the unusual move last used against former President Bill Clinton following the Monica Lewinsky affair.

“You have to make the public case that the president has to be removed,” said McCarthy. “I’m trying to make it,” he said.

McCarthy, a terrorism expert who prosecuted the so-called “blind sheik,” Omar Abdel Rahman, for the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, charged that Obama and his administration are destroying the Constitution by ignoring some laws, using the Internal Revenue Service to harass conservative groups and making changes to Obamacare that don’t appear legal.

Harry Reid would never remove this President—even if he murdered someone on live TV—but there is still something to be accomplished by impeachment in the House. Too bad John Boehner is such a compromised, unprincipled man who is clearly unfit to serve as Speaker (and it’s depressing and mind-boggling to consider that, as bad has he is, the most recent past Speaker was worse!)

The latest Captain America movie provides a cautionary lesson on this very point: If you wouldn’t like a certain weapon or authority in the hands of “Hydra” then you shouldn’t like it in the hands of “your man” either. No one should want the President to have that much lawless power, regardless of party.

America is bigger than any one man. The law is king, not the President. It’s time our elected leaders acted that way, instead of looking forward to taking their turn as the next lawless resident of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
