No House Vote to Defund Planned Parenthood. Why Not?

Congress is refusing to defund Planned Parenthood because they like the organization.

According to Breitbart, “House Leaves for Recess with No Vote to Defund Planned Parenthood.”

Some people in social media claim this indicates the Republicans are “spineless” or “cowardly” or “incompetent.” I don’t think that really grasps what is going on.

The House is leaving for its summer recess until September 8 without voting on legislation to defund Planned Parenthood in the wake of the recent gruesome videos released of the abortion giant’s practice of harvesting the body parts of aborted babies for sale to biomedical companies.

A House leadership aide reportedly told The Hill, “In order to enact legislation to defund Planned Parenthood, we need more Republicans and Democrats in both the House and the Senate to support our efforts.”

Thousands of Americans participated in rallies across the nation Tuesday to urge their state and federal lawmakers to investigate and defund Planned Parenthood in the wake of the revelations in the videos.

Rep. Diane Black (R-TN) condemned the chamber for its failure to pass the Defund Planned Parenthood Act of 2015, a measure she introduced and for which there are 150 cosponsors, only one of which is a Democrat, Rep. Dan Lipinski (IL).

Black said on the House floor:

I stand here profoundly disappointed that the House will leave town today without taking a vote on my legislation to defund Planned Parenthood. Over the past two weeks, we’ve all seen the gruesome videos showing the heartless depravity of this organization. We issued statements, we made passionate floor speeches, and we pledged action. Now, our constituents would like to know when we’re going to follow through on that promise.

“Today, I’m reminded of the words of Dietrich Bonhoeffer: ‘Silence in the face of evil is itself evil. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act,’” she added.

Back when the TARP bill was voted down by Congress, rather than honoring the vote, the media insisted that this was a fluke and that the law would be put in front of Congress again to vote right this time. And that’s exactly what happened.

Funny how “democracy” works. The media and the political class get what they want when it comes to bankers but suddenly start pretending they have no power when it comes to federal funding for the destruction of infants.

This isn’t cowardice and it certainly isn’t incompetence. A majority of Republicans in Congress like Planned Parenthood and think it is a good investment. My guess is that they think that Planned Parenthood’s aggressive targeting of minorities and poor mothers helps guard our future from criminals and welfare users. But, whatever their motives, it is undeniable that they succeeded in what they wanted to do—they left Planned Parenthood alone and let it continue getting its funding stream from the federal government.

They’re not incompetent or afraid; they’re evil.

Interestingly, when I posted yesterday about how StemExpress got a court order to prevent video of their organ trafficking deals from being released, I didn’t know that there was a connection between that company and the House of Representatives. But Breitbart had reported on it back on July 17:

The founder and CEO of StemExpress is Cate Dyer, the younger sister of Charlotte Ivancic, Boehner’s health policy director, as originally observed at the conservative site ForAmerica.

In response to Breitbart News’ request for comment, Emily Schillinger, Boehner’s press secretary, said, “Charlotte Ivancic is a dedicated public servant who enjoys the utmost respect among her peers and Members of Congress. She has the Speaker’s complete trust and confidence in both her work and her character.”

As reported at Breitbart News, StemExpress, located in Placerville, California, describes itself as “a multi-million dollar company that supplies human blood, tissue products, primary cells and other clinical specimens to biomedical researchers.” The company says it “offers the largest variety of raw material in the industry, as well as fresh, fixed and cryopreserved human primary cells.”

StemExpress touts that it is the only company of its kind to obtain tissues and isolate cells for the individual needs of researchers in its own labs.

Well, she has the speaker’s complete trust, so everything must be okay.
