Troops Killed and Wounded but We Mustn’t Call it “Combat”

Oh, the illusions we must foster when a Nobel Peace Prize winner has to pretend to have withdrawn troops from Afghanistan. CNS News reports: A U.S. Special Operations service member was killed and two others were injured after coming under enemy fire in Afghanistan’s Helmand province Tuesday, but asked whether this meant U.S. troops were engaged in combat, a Pentagon spokesman said repeatedly that they were there in their mandated mission to “train, advise, assist” Afghan forces. U.S. Jet Plane Shot Down People Fleeing Doctors Without Borders Hospital

Not only was Doctors Without Borders bombed by U.S. Forces, but those trying to escape were shot from a jet plane. While the New York Times and CNN both tried to misdirect readers from who was guilty of bombing a Doctors Without Borders hospital in Afghanistan, NBCNews is doing a better job. In fact they have reported that the U.S. did more than just bomb the hospital: “U.S. Plane Shot Victims Fleeing Doctors Without Borders Hospital: Charity.” A U.S. warplane shot people trying to flee a Read more […]

Helping Afghanistan Meant People Helped Themselves to Money

How did helping Afghanistan with a new gas station cost $43 million? Building a similar station in Pakistan cost a half million dollars, but not this one. Scott Shackleford writes at the Reason.com blog, “A $43 Million Gas Station—Is This Why We’re Still in Afghanistan?” The United States (as in, you and me), paid $43 million to build a compressed natural gas (CNG) station in Sheberghan, Afghanistan. […] That’s not even the punch line. The punch line is that the Department of Defense Read more […]

Veterans for Peace Draw Attention to Questionable Military Action

Since the bombing of the Doctors Without Borders Hospital 2 weeks ago, there has been a lot of talk about the future of American military presence in Afghanistan.  The group Veterans for Peace is drawing attention to the bombing and to the ongoing presence in Afghanistan that has recently been drawn out to 2017. The Washington Times reports: Members of the group Veterans for Peace will hold a two hour vigil Saturday afternoon in St. Louis, Mo. the group announced Friday. The organization — Read more […]

U.S. Empire Means We Are Ruled by Foreigners

White House spokesman tells reporters we will be ruled by foreigners when it comes to our troop commitments to Afghanistan. CNS News posted two stories about Afghanistan yesterday, both well worth reading: “Gen. Campbell: Afghans Are Fleeing Their Country, But They Want U.S. Military to Stay,” and “WH: On Afghanistan, Obama Will ‘Take Input’ From Diplomats, NATO Allies, Not Just Military Commander Who’s There.” The first headline is pretty self-explanatory. While the “top U.S. commander Read more […]

Remember Back When the New York Times Favored Afghan Man-Boy Rape?

While it is great that the Liberal paper is exposing it now, don’t forget that they excused man-boy rape less than a decade ago. It was great that a paper with wide readership reported on the man-boy rape that soldiers are punished for opposing—even if the wide readership is undeserved, and a sign of national intellectual bankruptcy that the paper still has such a wide readership. I refer, of course, to the New York Times and their story, “U.S. Soldiers Told to Ignore Sexual Abuse of Boys Read more […]

Military is Culling Honorable Soldiers from Military and Empowering Child Rapists

Honorable soldiers who don’t want to arm and train child rapists in Afghanistan are harassed and persecuted in the United States military. I wrote recently about a Green Beret who was being shoved out of the military, seemingly because he shoved an Afghan police officer who had raped a boy, beaten the mother for telling on him, and laughed in the face of the soldier when confronted. I asked if this represented a trend among Green Berets. It seems it is a trend in the entire U.S. military Read more […]

Muslims Converting to Christianity In Germany: Is It Genuine?

Maybe it doesn’t matter if the many Muslims converting to Christianity are doing it for worldly reasons. This story may show us that God, despite all the sin and unbelief in the world, may be having mercy on us: “At a Berlin church, Muslim refugees converting in droves.” Mohammed Ali Zonoobi bends his head as the priest pours holy water over his black hair. “Will you break away from Satan and his evil deeds?” pastor Gottfried Martens asks the Iranian refugee. “Will you break away from Islam?” “Yes,” Read more […]

Army Lets Go Green Beret Who Confronts Child Abuser

A Green Beret is being involuntarily discharged because he shoved an Afghan police he was training when he found he was a child-rapist and woman-beater. How would you react if you found that a man you were training for an important job in government used his authority to rape a boy and then beat up the mother when she reported him? How would you respond if you confronted him and he laughed that you would even care about such a small thing? Let me change focus slightly and ask the question a Read more […]

Fake Success: Fake Schools in Afghanistan, Courtesy of the U.S. Government

The schools in Afghanistan that our government claims to have built and run… don’t exist. There is one major school that still kind of exists that was reported to be a wild success. It did start well. Nearly four years later, water seeps through the leaky roof and drips onto students in this more than $250,000 construction. Doors are cut in half; some are missing altogether. There is no running water for the approximately 200 boys — and zero girls — who attend. But the school did enrich Read more […]

CIA Cash Went to Al Qaeda

New York Times reports that CIA cash wound up going into Al Qaeda hands. But there is more to the story. When I saw this story in the New York Times, I assumed it was going to involve the basic ways the CIA has been funding terrorists, including Al Qaeda (whether directly or not, before 9/11, I don’t know for sure), since the late seventies. But no, it is about one small incompetent bit of terrorist financing, not intentional financing: “CIA Cash Ended Up in Coffers of Al Qaeda.” In Read more […]

Afghanistan Blackout: Obama Veils “Ended” War in Secrecy

The Obama administration has imposed an Afghanistan blackout on how many tens of billions of dollars are spent. I have already posted about Barack Obama’s de facto policy of Afghan War Forever. We have seen him secretly authorize more fighting with U.S. troops in Afghanistan. Now he has gone a step further. Bonnie Kristian asks at Rare.us, “Why is Obama suddenly so secretive about the war in Afghanistan?” Even though information on how our tax dollars are spent in Afghanistan has Read more […]
