To Understand Russia Now You Need to Remember Bill Clinton’s Reign

Is Vladimir Putin the reincarnation of Adolph Hitler, as some have tried to pin on him? Make no mistake, Putin is a dangerous man, but if you climb past the warmongering rhetoric of certain Western politicians and media sources on a ladder of historical knowledge, you may see a very different landscape beyond the rubble of the Berlin Wall. The situation in Ukraine was absolutely foreseeable, given the United States’ betrayal of Russia which began under Bill Clinton, and has continued under George Read more […]

American Mercenaries in Ukraine?

German’s Der Spiegel issued a report in German. Here it is thanks to the magic of Google Translate: “Use against separatists: Ukrainian army apparently gets support of U.S. mercenaries.” 400 U.S. mercenaries are fighting in eastern Ukraine against the separatists. The reported “Bild am Sonntag” and refers to intelligence information. The fighters come therefore from military service Academi, formerly known as Blackwater. […]  According to “Bild am Sonntag”, the Ukrainian security Read more […]

The Reporter Who Showed Us the Face of the Beast in Eastern Ukraine Has Been Abducted

Please join me in praying for the safety and release of a fearless and real journalist, Simon Ostrovsky, who was reportedly taken hostage by pro-Russian forces in Eastern Kiev. If you’ve seen his reports… the guy is amazing, and pretty much goes where exceedingly few would ever dare to go. Here is his most recent report: Note that Vice News is an international news entity, with a focus on New Media (Internet/non-traditional), and with a non-Western feel to a lot of what they do. As Read more […]

Republicans Dismiss American Majority and Demand Administration Arm Ukrainians

From the Washington Times: The White House has moved in recent weeks to beef up U.S. military support for NATO allies bordering Ukraine. But with fears mounting that Russian President Vladimir Putin may be keen to advance on eastern Ukraine, some are calling for the Obama administration to begin directly arming Ukrainian forces. “The reason we heard from this administration they weren’t willing to provide arms is we thought it would create a provocation. Well, [Mr. Putin] doesn’t need provocation,” Read more […]

Just How Close Are We to World War III?

I asked last year, “Are we really committed to war against China over some disputed islands.” The latest answer from Yahoo News is “yes, we are.” Tokyo has reportedly ordered its forces to destroy any North Korean ballistic missiles that pass through its airspace. Hagel’s announcement follows the deployment of a second early warning US radar to Japan, P-8 maritime surveillance aircraft and plans to bring unmanned Global Hawk drones to the country. Although Hagel said the US ships were Read more […]

Ukraine & NATO: Let the Game of Chicken Begin!

Brilliant! From Yahoo News: “Ukraine agrees to host NATO war games.” Ukraine’s parliament on Tuesday approved a series of joint military exercises with NATO countries that would put US troops in direct proximity to Russian forces in the annexed Crimea peninsula. “This is a good opportunity to develop our armed forces,” acting defence minister Mykhailo Koval told Verkhovna Rada lawmakers ahead of the 235-0 vote. The decision came as NATO foreign ministers gathered in Brussels for a two-day Read more […]

President Barack Obama Says That Crimea Is Worse Than Iraq

Whether or not you believe the Iraq invasion by the U.S. is justified, I fail to see how a war that left a million dead and an Iraq subject now to constant Al Qaeda attacks can be compared favorably to an invasion that left one dead. Yet President Obama, despite posturing himself as opposed to the Iraq War back before his presidency, claimed that what the Russians have done in Crimea is worse. The Washington Post’s Post Partisan blog reports: President Obama, whose presidential campaign in Read more […]

Is Poland Worried About War?

Ladies and Gentlemen: This is significant. It has never—repeat never—been done before. Might we be on the edge of WWIII? From The Week: “Why are Polish men in London getting military call-up papers?” Next time you take a tray of tea and custard creams to the nice gang of Polish builders renovating your semi, they may seem a little distracted and anxious. Ask them why, and they will answer that some of them have in the last few weeks received call-up papers as army reservists.    This Read more […]

Democracy Is Not Possible Where Foreign Powers Can Back Candidates: Ron Paul, the U.S., & Ukraine

Notice that this 2010 Democrat ad accuses the GOP of taking foreign money. That is supposed to be illegal. Even if there might be some way get such funding despite election law, it is self-evidently wrong. Foreign powers are not supposed to be infiltrating our elections. The attack was hypocritical, since the Center for American Progress, who launched the ad, was itself receiving foreign money according to The Nation. But the hypocrisy shows that we all acknowledge the ethical principle. Read more […]

L.A. Times on Republicans & Ukraine: Americans Prefer Ron Paul to Rand Paul

I have to say I find this ironic! From the L.A. Times: Finally, there are the libertarians, which brings us to Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), who’s at the top of early polls of potential Republican presidential nominees. Paul has been working hard in recent months to make his positions sound closer to the party’s mainstream, which means criticizing the president and trying to sound hawkish. But as a libertarian, he still wants to wage a minimalist foreign policy. The current situation has left him Read more […]

Free Speech Official Beats Up Television Executive For What He Broadcast

Several members of the Ukrainian Parliament broke into the office of the CEO of Ukraine’s National TV Company (which, sadly, sounds like a state monopoly). From Euronews: The head of Ukraine’s state TV company has been attacked by at least three MPs from the far-right Svoboda party and forced to resign. Members of Svoboda barged their way into the offices of Aleksandr Panteleymonov, the acting president of the National Television Company of Ukraine on Tuesday night. They were angry Read more […]

Putin Administration to Obama: You Hit Like a Girl

The Obama Administration’s “sanctions” against Russia for the Crimean referendum over the weekend are, as expected, just plain embarrassing. In case you missed it, Crimeans voted overwhelmingly to secede from Ukraine and join Russia over the weekend, and Russian President Vladimir Putin didn’t even have to register dead people to do it. Oddly enough, people in that part of the globe seem to like Putin and Russia. As scheduled last week, that referendum result led President Obama to swing with Read more […]
