Donald Trump Bribes Iowa Voters with Ethanol

Sarah Palin, in her deeply misguided endorsement of Donald Trump, said that “crony capitalists” want “bloated budgets” to “suck off them.” But Trump has shown that the Iowa people are all crony capitalists feeding off bloated budgets. From the Hill: Donald Trump said Tuesday that federal regulators should increase the amount of ethanol blended into the nation’s gasoline supply. Speaking at an event hosted by the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association, Trump, a real estate mogul and the Read more […]

How Much Is the Government Gouging You at the Gas Pump?

Gas prices are low right now, but they could be a lot lower. Prices would be lower if the government would stop shaking us down at the pump. One way our rulers shake us down is by making us throw money at the corn industry when we try to buy gas. I write “try” because we are force to buy diluted gasoline that doesn’t power our vehicles very well. Salim Furth covers this in his Daily Signal article, “Repealing These Two Regulations Could Save You 31 Cents per Gallon of Gas.” The repeal of Read more […]

Ethanol Is a Failure so EPA Wants to Force Us to Use More

The EPA is trying to impose more environmental damage and less fuel-efficiency on the American people, along with higher food prices, for the sake of ethanol. It is far, far, far beyond time for Congress to de-fund, and shut down the EPA. From the Patriot Post: “EPA Proposes More Corn for Fuel, Not Food.” Compared to this time last year, Americans are paying much less at the gas pump. Enjoy it while you can, though, because gas prices are about to rise. The expected price increase isn’t Read more […]

Depressing: GOP Candidates Pandering to Iowa on Ethanol

Trying to win a corn state leads the ugly sight of Republican candidates pandering on a horrible policy that ruins cars and the environment. The gas station nearest my house used to sell pure gasoline (no ethanol) for about 7.5% more than the crud with corn pollution—that’s all they sold in every grade; glorious, pure, superior gasoline with no engine-destroying gunk. Then, the station changed ownership, and went to the garbage everyone else sells. Now… a few stations in the surrounding Read more […]

Electric Cars, Ethanol Harm the Environment

You have probably known this for a long time, but it is nice to see the Associated Press admit electric cars are not green. People who own all-electric cars where coal generates the power may think they are helping the environment. But a new study finds their vehicles actually make the air dirtier, worsening global warming. Ethanol isn’t so green, either. “It’s kind of hard to beat gasoline” for public and environmental health, said study co-author Julian Marshall, an engineering professor Read more […]

New Fuel Prices Show Gov Doesn’t Know Future

Recent fuel prices are spoiling the government’s plans for getting us all into alternative energy and other technologies they have been pushing on us. In every case, the government’s apologists and spokespersons claim, in the most condescending and pretentious manner possible, that the government has the experts and the resources to tell us all how to best move into the future. We don’t have “five-year-plans” in the U.S. but that isn’t because the people who rule us don’t wish Read more […]

Ethanol is Proof our Government Hates Us

Ethanol is one of my favorite subjects. Here’s an example why, from the Patriot Post: Comedian Al Franken, who routinely embarrasses Minnesotans by impersonating a U.S. senator from their state, affirms that, “based on [his] conversations with [White House adviser] John Podesta and EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy,” the EPA is going to raise the ethanol requirement for fuel. Sen. John Barrasso (R-WY) argues, “The Renewable Fuel Standard is fundamentally broken and beyond repair. Instead Read more […]

How “Green” Corporate Welfare Advocates Justify Themselves: Blame “Big Oil”

Yesterday, the American Coalition for Ethanol, announced their sixth annual “fly in” to Washington, DC—otherwise known as “the Biofuels Beltway March.” Their announcement appeared on the website for Ethanol Producer Magazine: Ethanol advocates and supporters will meet with key administration officials and members of Congress on March 25-26 this year. “The most effective lobbyists aren’t lobbyists at all, but rather farmers, ethanol producers, main street business leaders, retailers Read more […]

Stop Destroying Our Engines And Degrading Our Mileage!

From CNBC: Ethanol requirements for U.S. gasoline appear to be losing friends and influencing the wrong people, with calls growing to reform or scrap the government mandates altogether. The Environmental Protection Agency in November proposed reducing the amount of renewable fuels, including corn-based ethanol, that oil refiners must blend with gasoline. The rule is a centerpiece of government efforts to curb carbon emissions, while jump-starting alternative forms of energy. The draft rule would Read more […]

One Cheer For Team Obama: EPA Wants To Back Down On Ethanol

From the Washington Times: In a move likely to anger corn farmers and their congressional representatives, the Obama administration Friday proposed the first-ever cut in the amount of corn-based ethanol and other biofuels that must be mixed into the nation’s gasoline, with the Environmental Protection Agency concluding that the mandate set by Congress just six years ago is proving difficult and perhaps impossible for gas producers to meet. The move could spark a fight from corn growers and those Read more […]

AP: Ethanol Production Is Degrading The Environment

Mega-kudos to the AP for taking on the political love-affair with the ethanol industry–this is a story that needs to be told, and you can be sure those with billions at stake will hit back hard. “The Secret Environmental Cost of US Ethanol Policy” CORYDON, Iowa (AP) — The hills of southern Iowa bear the scars of America’s push for green energy: The brown gashes where rain has washed away the soil. The polluted streams that dump fertilizer into the water supply. Even the cemetery that disappeared Read more […]

Which Could Hurt Wildlife More: Keystone XL Pipeline Or Ethanol Fuel Additive?

The Department of the Interior has the task of managing and protecting America’s vast lands and resources.  According to their website: “Our Mission: Protecting America’s Great Outdoors and Powering Our Future” “The U.S. Department of the Interior protects America’s natural resources and heritage, honors our cultures and tribal communities, and supplies the energy to power our future.” Under the liberal dictatorship of President’s Clinton and Obama, the Interior Department went Read more […]
