Ted Cruz Avoids Trouble for Talking about Secret Law?

The exchange above almost got Ted Cruz in trouble. NBC News reports: “Did Ted Cruz Reveal Classified Information at the GOP Debate?” The Senate Intelligence Committee now says that it is not formally investigating whether Ted Cruz may have revealed classified information when discussing the government’s ability to monitor phone records during Tuesday night’s Republican debate. “The Committee is not investigating anything said during last night’s Republican Presidential debate,” the two top Read more […]

Dare We Hope that Ted Cruz is Hostile to the Neocons?

The question raised by this story at National Review is: Does this reflect Ted Cruz’s real position or is he posing? (I don’t think of Ted Cruz as someone who is likely to pose, but it almost seems too good to be true.) We are told in the headline, “Many GOP Foreign-Policy Leaders Are Suspicious of Ted Cruz.” An influential chorus within the Republican establishment is raising questions about whether Ted Cruz can be trusted on foreign policy. Among this crowd, Cruz’s use of the term “neocon” Read more […]

Washington Post: Marco Rubio Is Right on Gun Control

On December 4, Marco Rubio was on CBS This Morning. He made the following statement: “None of the major shootings that have occurred in this country over the last few months or years that have outraged us, would gun laws have prevented them.” I am pretty shocked by the Washington Post’s reaction. “Fact Checker” Glenn Kessler carefully went through all the shootings beginning with Sandy Hook. [See also, “Obama Admits San Bernardino Shooting MIGHT Be Terrorism, but Is Sure of Gun Control.”] A Read more […]

Republicans Don’t Play Identity Politics

Conservatives have many reasons to be disappointed with the GOP. But here is something they’re mostly getting right. In the Washington Post we read, “The GOP’s identity-politics crisis: Holding race-card aces but loath to play them.” Juan Rodriguez, a Colombian immigrant and Republican businessman in Des Moines, is on a mission to persuade his employees, nearly all Hispanic Democrats, to elect a president from what they think of as the party of white guys. This year, with three minorities among Read more […]

Voting for Marco Rubio is a Message to the Establishment?

Here’s the ad. I don’t know what to say. He took on the Republican Establishment and won? Rubio is certainly preferable to Hillary. If he somehow wins the nomination I may vote for him. And I suppose there may have been a “Republican Establishment” in Florida that he had to beat to win the Senate seat. But what about since then? He wasn’t fighting the Establishment when he joined “the gang of eight” and advocated amnesty with false promises about border security. Rubio wasn’t Read more […]

Republican Candidates Poll Better than Hillary

The Fox headline, in my opinion, is rather biased: “FOX News Poll: Rubio does best against Clinton in 2016 ballot test.” Republicans want a candidate who can beat Hillary Clinton. A new Fox News poll finds Marco Rubio performs best against the presumptive Democratic nominee. Rubio has an eight-point edge: 50 percent to Clinton’s 42 percent. This isn’t inaccurate, but I think the more amazing story is that Hillary doesn’t poll better than any top Republican candidate! Then again, Clinton — Read more […]

Was Barack Obama Ever Really Going to Enforce Immigration Laws?

The promise to enforce immigration laws was key to the campaign for “comprehensive immigration reform.” But it was a lie. As you may have heard, deportations are way down. Not only are general deportations not happening, but even criminals are getting to stay in the country rather than face deportation. Mark Krikorian writes at the National Review, The operational reason for the collapse in deportations is the Obama administration’s enforcement-suppression policies, which it has labeled Read more […]

Marco Rubio Casts Deciding Vote for Obamatrade without Reading the Bill

Marco Rubio decided it was his duty to support Obamatrade based on what he thinks (or hopes) is in the law. You may remember that Mark Horne wrote in January, “Republicans Want to Pass Obamatrade to Find Out What’s in Obamatrade.” Basically, people in Congress were defending the bill, promoting the bill, and planning to vote for the bill without having read the text of the bill. And now we get this from The Marshall Report: “Marco Rubio Screwed America, Big Time!” Marco Rubio what Read more […]

Why Won’t Republicans Advocate Free Market Healthcare?

Instead of advocating free market healthcare, we get tax credit or tax deduction schemes that don’t get to the root of the problem. Liberals are constantly railing against Republicans for deregulating. Wouldn’t it be nice if their attacks were accurate? Daniel Payne writes at the Federalist under the headline, “GOP Obamacare Replacements Keep The Feds Front And Center.” As Megan McArdle recently reported, both Scott Walker and Marco Rubio recently released their plans for repealing Read more […]

Hillary Clinton Has Power to Make New York Times Change Its Story

Can you imagine what would happen if anyone else tried to make the New York Times change its story? The scandal of Hillary Clinton’s private email server has just reached a new point, since it looks like proof has been discovered that she used it to send classified information. But even with this revelation we see how Hillary Clinton gets special treatment. At Politico.com we learn that the media bows in deference to her even when they catch her. The New York Times made small but significant Read more […]

Wake Up and Smell the Corruption, Millennials!

A quiz for college students shows they are completely brainwashed about Republicans and corruption. I’ve posted many times about how Hillary Clinton is thoroughly a Wall Street candidate (along with Silicon Valley and other centers of wealth). Even Democrats are aware of this to some extent, which is why some are rooting for the socialist Bernie Sanders. So how can the young people in this video be so naïve? Hillary Clinton herself seems to be banking on their ignorance. Campus Reform, Read more […]

The So-Called Rubio Problem

There is lots to appreciate about Marco Rubio. His Cuban background offers him an enviable connection with the Latino population. There are over 25 million Latin voters eligible to vote. And Latin voters pick out the unsophisticated American candidates trying to brave their way into the Hispanic community with their 2nd grade spanish. Rubio has the charisma and the rhetoric to shine in this coming election season. Political ideologies and differences aside, he is a fine candidate. [See also Read more […]
