Whites Are No Longer a Majority in Our Schools so We Can See the Coming Implosion of Liberalism

If Whites are no longer a majority in our schools, we are about to get a preview of the coming implosion of Liberalism. Headlines like this one are missing the point: “White Students to No Longer Be Majority at School.”

For the first time, U.S. public schools are projected this fall to have more minority students than non-Hispanic whites, a shift largely fueled by growth in the number of Hispanic children.

The changing demographics of American education are apparent inside Jane Cornell’s summer school classroom, where giggling grade-schoolers mostly come from homes where Spanish is the primary language. The sign outside the classroom reads “Welcome” and “Bienvenidos” in polished handwriting

The shift brings new academic realities, such as the need for more English language instruction, and cultural ones, such as changing school lunch menus to reflect students’ tastes.

Pretty interesting. Rather than get angry about some of the ways our government has (mis)handled immigration issues let me suggest that this is going to spell the end of Liberalism. Liberalism is going to implode for lack of its only unifying principle.

The reason the headline quoted above misses the point is because the real story is that there are no longer any minorities. How is Liberalism going to win votes without minorities?

What is Liberalism’s unifying principle as a political force? What do labor unions and environmentalists have in common? What do Hispanics and African Americans have in common?

I think the answer is obvious. Their main common principle is opposition against the dominance of Conservative “White” culture.

What happens when there is no longer a Conservative “White” culture with any real political power in society?

The result, at times, is racial tension.

In Louisiana in July, Jefferson Parish public school administrators reached an agreement with the federal government to end an investigation into discrimination against English language learners. In May, police had to be called to help break up a fight between Hispanic and black students in a school in Streamwood, Illinois, a Chicago suburb, after a racially-based lunchroom brawl got out of control.

I have my doubts that the Federal government was concerned about the truth of the issue in wanting that investigation ended. But notice that the fight between races did not involve Whites at all. Hispanics and African Americans are both vying for political favors. They are, thus, inherently opposed to one another. Remove the perceived “White power structure” to unify them against a common enemy, and the two groups start noticing that they are opposed to one another.

I think there will be many difficulties in the changes we are about to see, but I don’t think Liberalism can survive it as a political force. What happened in that lunchroom brawl is a sign of what is coming on a much grander scale.
