The shooting of the four marines obviously indicates a problem, but blaming Obama gives him permission to exert power and end more freedoms.
Is Barack Obama to blame for the ISIS attack that killed those four marines yesterday? I am sure he was. But the Republican attack on Obama is dangerous. According to the Washington Times, “Republicans blame Obama policies for rise in domestic terrorism.”
President Obama called the murder of four Marines in Tennessee Thursday “heartbreaking” and pleaded for Americans not to jump to conclusions, but Republicans were already blaming him for what investigators termed domestic terrorism, as the shooting quickly became part of the 2016 presidential campaign.
Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, who is seeking the GOP nomination, said the killing appeared to be terrorism, and said Mr. Obama needs confront the dangers posed by the “evil” of jihadists.
“This shooting underscores the grave reality of the threat posed to us by radical Islamic terrorism every single day,” the governor said. “It’s time for the White House to wake up and tell the truth and the truth is that radical Islam is at war with us, and we must start by being honest about that.”
I would like President Obama to stop lying about jihadists as well. Labelling the work of a killer, who has asked for honorary citizenship from ISIS, as “workplace violence” is enraging. But while Jindal is right to criticize the President for continually obfuscating the nature of Islamic terrorism, the bottom line is that if Obama does anything about terrorism in this country he will try to eliminate even more American freedoms.
I don’t want the government to allegedly provide greater security by spying on us more or making it harder to procure weapons. I want to be safer by having more freedom. I want all soldiers to be required to be armed at all times. I want all barriers to gun ownership and all regulations that make guns more expensive to be eliminated.
Yes, I would also like some assurance that President Obama is ordering his Federal minions to be concerned about security when they consider immigrants for entry into the United States. But my fear is that Obama will do very little of what he should do. Instead, he will want to restrict the freedoms of Americans even more than he already has.
In other words, by becoming upset about Barack Obama and criticizing him, we are basically giving him an emergency that he can exploit to his own advantage.
If we are going to criticize the President, let us be specific about what we want. We want immigrants restricted when they might threaten American lives. We want more Americans to be armed, both inside and outside the military. And we want the President to stop making stupid statements claiming that the terrorists we face have nothing to do with Islam.
