AP: U.S. Working with Syrian Terrorists

They hid it under a misleading headline, but the Associated Press admits the U.S. is sponsoring Jihadists and Syrian terrorists.

My thanks go to “We Are Change” for catching this:

The Associated Press headline sounds innocuous: “Rebels push forward in southern Syria.”

Syrian rebels backed by the United States are making their biggest gains yet south of the capital Damascus, capturing a string of towns from government forces and aiming to carve out a swath of territory leading to the doorstep of President Bashar Assad’s seat of power.

The advances appear to be a rare visible success story from efforts by the U.S. and its allies to train and arm moderate rebel fighters.

So, if you stopped there, what would you know? We have successfully supported moderate rebels against Assad.

The rebel forces are believed to include fighters who graduated from a nearly 2-year-old CIA training program based in Syria’s southern neighbor Jordan. The group known as the Friends of Syria, including Jordan, France the U.S. and Saudi Arabia, are backing the rebels with money and weapons, said Gen. Ibrahim Jbawi, the spokesman for the Free Syrian Army’s southern front.

The gains are a contrast to northern Syria, where U.S.-backed rebels are collapsing in the face of an assault by Islamic militants.

Oh, that is not so good. The Islamic militants are winning battles against the moderates in other territory…

Except that is not what is happening. From the very next sentence:

Notably, in the south, the rebels are working together with fighters from al-Qaida’s Syria branch, whose battle-hardened militants have helped them gain the momentum against government forces. The cooperation points to the difficulty in American efforts to build up “moderate” factions while isolating extremists.

Oh. So by “collapsing in the face of an assault” the writer really meant “cooperating with.” These “moderates” that the U.S. and the Saudis have supported are actively working together with Al Qaeda.

This is supposed to show us that “American efforts” are difficult?

No it shows us they are delusional. They are not even hiding the fact that we are aiding and abetting Jihadist terrorists. This entire communication is written to make us comfortable with the idea that we are “forced” to work with the groups that we hold responsible for the attack on the Twin Towers and the Pentagon.
