I can’t believe how stupid some people can be. The Washington Times headline is: “Obama pleas to China, India to forgo use of coal falls on deaf ears.” Their ears are not deaf! The problem is not their ears but the fact that they have functional brains and a healthy desire to thrive. They don’t want to impoverish themselves so that a few liberals can boast nonsense about “saving the planet.”
Coal may have played an integral role in turning the U.S. into the world’s top economic superpower, but President Obama is actively pushing China, India and other emerging economies to ignore the fuel that powered the Industrial Revolution and instead embrace renewable sources favored by those on the political left.
As part of his passionate push on climate change, the president recently implored developing countries to “leapfrog” old energy sources, which are the primary drivers of carbon emissions.
So far, however, there’s little evidence those countries intend to listen to Mr. Obama, with China’s coal consumption, for example, skyrocketing and projected to keep growing for the foreseeable future. The country now accounts for nearly 50 percent of all global coal consumption, according to the Energy Information Administration (EIA).
They would be idiots and their people would be justified in overthrowing them if they tried to force their countries to ban cheap energy and mandate more expensive energy. This is not a game to these people who are already far poorer than us.
Imagine how you would feel if some incredibly wealthy person showed up from one of his mansions in a chauffeured Limousine, walked up to your front door, and demanded you stop using your air conditioning or heating system in your house. It is an incredible insult—one driven by apathy and arrogance—to tell these people that their societies are not yet poor enough, do not have enough hardship, but they need to add more poverty by government policy.
That is meant to be a metaphor, but it is almost a literal description of John Kerry flying around in his carbon-dioxide-gushing aircraft lecturing other nations about their energy policy.
The fact that Obama would dare pressure any political leaders to do something so evil to their own people shows that love and compassion are devoid from his being. No one who cared about other human beings would try to deprive them of their basic means of living.
