From the Weekly Standard:
Asked the ABC News reporter, “Is that threat,” like the Boston Marathon bombing last year, “any less serious?”
“These lone wolves. These homegrown violent extremists are people who keep me up at night, as well,” said Holder. “Trying to monitor them, trying to anticipate what it is they are going to do. And the experience that we had in Boston is instructive. It only takes only one or two people to really do something horrific.”
The ABC anchor says the reporter and Holder talked about “homegrown terrorists who are motivated more by domestic concerns.” .
“Yes,” the reporter says citing a couple recent examples. “He said that is coming back, as well. There may be a resurgence. He said there are a lot of sleepless nights these days.“
Not to minimize the horror to those impacted, but think rationally with me for a moment: Eric Holder is having “sleepless nights” due to an alleged threat from “homegrown extremists.”
You’d think such attacks were happening all the time if it’s such a grave threat, but the only one they can mention is the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013, in which three people were killed. Three.
Since the Marathon incident, according to Holder’s own Department of Justice statistics far more innocent Americans have died at the hands of our local “law enforcement” than at the hands of domestic terrorists (One source claims well over 500 innocent people are killed every year by our increasingly militarized local police).
In the past ten years, significantly more innocents have been killed in the United States by men with badges than the total number of soldiers we’ve lost in Iraq!
Maybe Mr. Holder should be losing more sleep over increasingly unnecessary hyping up and militarizing of law enforcement than he is over an exceedingly small number of sociopaths and nutcases on home turf!!
Don’t fall for the misdirection. Don’t accept such blathering as justification for more buildup of a Police State, and surveillance of innocents, and drones in our skies. The greatest threat to peace and freedom in America is our own government run amok. That’s what George Washington said, and I concur.
