Gay Man Opposes Gay Marriage – Says Kids Need Father and Mother

Gay activists have been trying to convince everyone that children raised by gay parents are just as normal as other children.  However, some recent reports indicated otherwise, such as the one that said children in gay households are 35% more likely to fail at school than children raised in traditional families.

Now, a gay man is speaking out about the necessity of children having a father and mother over having two parents of the same sex.  Doug Mainwaring, co-founder of National Capital Tea Party Patriots recently spoke at the National Review Institute’s 2013 Summit – ‘The Future of Conservatism.’  Mainwaring sat on a panel for the ‘Building a Marriage Culture,’ where he said:

“For a long time I thought, if I could just find the right partner, we could raise my kids together, but it became increasingly apparent to me, even if I found somebody else exactly like me, who loved my kids as much as I do, there would still be a gaping hole in their lives because they need a mom.”

“I don’t want to see children being engineered for same-sex couples where there is either a mom missing or a dad missing.  Somebody needs to stand up for the rights and needs of children in an age when the selfishness of adults seems to be trumping those rights.”

Mainwaring has two teenage sons and has moved back in with his ex-wife to raise them.  He also claims to be a conservative, even though he is gay.

When God made man male and female, He purposely gave each sex certain traits or characteristics that the other doesn’t have.  He created them complement and complete each other, which is why Genesis 2:24 says:

“Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.”

Two parts, each different, but when combined in the right relationship, make a one.  That’s how God designed marriage and family.  In fact, He tells us what the purpose of marriage is in Malachi 2:15:

“But did He not make them one, having a remnant of the Spirit?  And why one?  He seeks godly offspring.”

While I do not condone Mainwaring’s sinful lifestyle of homosexuality, I do have to compliment him for realizing the necessity of raising kids with a father and mother as God intended it to be from the very beginning.  Now if everyone else would realize it as well, our children just may have a chance at a normal life after all.
