Guns in school are only illegal for those who don’t belong to the so-called “law enforcement” public union.
This story reported in the Washington Post website (“‘I thought he was going to shoot me.’ Unsuspecting middle school students terrified by active shooter drill.”) is so outrageous, I’m not sure what to say about it.
Police officers in Florida surprised students, teachers and parents Thursday with an active shooter drill. And by “active shooter drill,” we mean that a Winter Haven middle school went into lockdown as two armed police officers burst into classrooms, guns drawn, leaving the unsuspecting children terrified — and their parents furious.
According to Fox affiliate WTVT, officials at Jewett Middle Academy e-mailed parents to inform them of the drill, after it took place [emphasis in original]. By that point, WTVT reports, cellphones were already filling up with texts from frightened students, who thought there was a real shooter in the school.
In a later statement to The Post, spokesperson Jamie Brown for the Winter Haven police department said they were only aware of one student who texted a parent during the exercise.
So you are forced to pay money to support the police whether you want to or not, and you are forced to pay money to support the local public school whether you want to or not. So they use the resources they extract from you to send the police to terrorize teens in the school.
If any student brought a gun to school, he would be suspended for life. A science teacher has been punished because students have designed projects that seem “cannon like.” Students have been suspended and threatened with expulsion for having airsoft guns at home. A student has even been suspended for biting a pop tart into the shape of Idaho.
But give a man a badge and he gets to bring a drawn and loaded gun into a classroom with students!
Stacy Ray told WTVT that she received a text from her seventh-grade daughter Lauren Marionneaux after two armed officers burst into her classroom. Winter Haven police told The Post that one of the officers had his duty firearm – a handgun – drawn. The gun was loaded, as required. The other officer was carrying an unloaded AR-15. According to Ray, one of her other children texted: “I thought he was going to shoot me.”
The police department is insisting that terrorizing students is good for them.
“Unfortunately, no one gets an advanced notice of real life emergencies,” Polk County Public Schools spokesman Jason Gearey said in an e-mailed statement to The Washington Post. “We don’t want students to be scared, but we need them to be safe.”
Winter Haven Police Chief Charlie Bird told WTVT that the surprise was exactly what officials intended. “It’s very important that, when you do your drill, you do it without everyone knowing that it’s a drill,” Bird said. “How you train and how you prepare is how you’re going to react when everything goes bad.”
Essentially, the police department will plan the timing of the drill with a school principal, and no one else will necessarily know.
“We regret any concern that parents and students might have experienced in how this drill was conducted,” said Gearey, the district spokesman. The county is still reviewing feedback it received following the drill. The Winter Haven police department told The Post that feedback following the incident to them was about 50-50 positive and negative.
What morons are giving positive feedback to this dangerous and useless security theater? It is completely crazy that we put up with this. It is insane that parents stand for it, or that school overseers who claim to care so much for their students would allow it to happen.
If police tried this at the mall or any other public venue they would be in danger of getting shot by an armed citizen who didn’t realize they were cops when they charged into an area with drawn weapons. But that is what is so great about a “gun free” school zone. The police get a playground of terrified disarmed victims.
So what is the big picture? Our schools teach American children that they can get suspended for even thinking about a firearm, while at the same time commanding them to submit to being terrorized by badged public agents.
We are training slaves.
