Planned Parenthood is caught selling body parts and the mainstream media thinks this is a Republican campaign story.
I thought I was done with the gruesome story once I wrote about Planned Parenthood being caught marketing baby body parts, complete with price estimates ($30 to $100 per “specimen,” if you haven’t read the post yet).
But the real story is not that Planned Parenthood is selling body parts from babies that, in some cases, may be partially birthed alive for the sake of organ harvesting. No, the real story is about Republican hysterics. Thus, The Hill reports, “Republicans seize on Planned Parenthood video.”
Republicans are seizing on a video purportedly showing a top Planned Parenthood executive discussing the transfer of aborted fetal tissue.
“This latest news is tragic and outrageous,” GOP presidential candidate Carly Fiorina said in a Facebook post linking to the video.
“This isn’t about ‘choice.’ It’s about profiting on the death of the unborn while telling women it’s about empowerment,” Fiorina said.
“This video is beyond disturbing,” Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) tweeted.
True, but what is also beyond disturbing is the fact that this story is reported like a campaign issue about Republicans rather than as about Planned Parenthood trafficking in body parts. Then we get this piece of arrogance:
“A lot of people want intact hearts these days, because they’re looking for specific nodes,” the woman says in the video released by The Center for Medical Progress, a self-described group of citizen journalists monitoring medical ethics. The video was reportedly recorded in July, 2014 by people posing as representatives from a fetal tissue procurement company.
Yes, they are merely “self-described… journalists” who just happened to have bothered to do real undercover work and investigative reporting that the media has covered up and diverted us from with Bruce Jenner stories.
It is the mainstream media that consists of nothing more than self-described journalists.
Some pro-lifers are asking what the big deal is. If people will kill babies then why wouldn’t they sell the limbs and organs? But the issue is not the ethical value of what is going on. Obviously killing babies is worse than selling dead baby parts.
But the reason why the story is so important that the media must try to divert our attention from it is because it breaks apart the entire abortion story.
Believe it or not, there are still many people who justify abortion on the grounds of the baby being “a blob of tissue.” But, if you watch the video, you will hear a Planned Parenthood VIP tell you that these “blobs of tissue” have intact livers and lungs and limbs that can be harvested, provided you “crush” them in the right places. She says that, to do some of this, you have to place the blob of tissue “in the breach position.” That’s baby language, not blob-of-tissue language.
And then the fact they are illegally selling these body parts reveals Planned Parenthood’s values in a more gruesome light. It may be old news to us who are aware that abortion is baby-killing, but it is a shock to many who have lived in denial.
I notice that The Hill’s story gives us Planned Parenthood’s denial that organs were being sold, but never points out that the video footage included the giving of a price range for the harvested “specimens.”
