As I’ve already written, the Republicans gave Obama a way to delay Obamacare for a year, blame the Republicans, and try to fix Healthcare.gov.
He didn’t want it.
Obama knew that his promises about being permitted to keep your health plan or keep your doctor would be revealed as lies.
He didn’t stop from telling them over and over. In fact, he not only told lies but threatened people who exposed his lies:
But know this: I will not waste time with those who have made the calculation that it’s better politics to kill this plan than to improve it. (Applause.) I won’t stand by while the special interests use the same old tactics to keep things exactly the way they are. If you misrepresent what’s in this plan, we will call you out. (Applause.) And I will not — and I will not accept the status quo as a solution. Not this time. Not now.
Everyone in this room knows what will happen if we do nothing. Our deficit will grow. More families will go bankrupt. More businesses will close. More Americans will lose their coverage when they are sick and need it the most. And more will die as a result. We know these things to be true.
So that whole time he not only knew the truth but he knew we would find out the truth. But he did it anyway.
Obama has calculated that this will all result in a win for him and his party over against the American people. He thinks that even with its horrible website, violating HIPAA and revealing private information, that it was right to go ahead and encourage everyone to try it out and give them false hope in doing so.
President Obama is like a wife beater who takes an evening to punch his wife and pull her hair out just to prove that, no matter what he does to her, she’s going to stay with him.
Are we going to put up with this?
At the very least, we can work to make sure that the term “red state Democrat senator” becomes an oxymoron in our lifetimes. I’m thinking about three of them, Senators Mark Begich (Alaska), Kay Hagan (North Carolina), and Mary Landrieu (Louisiana).
Obama may not be subject to another election, but they are; and they lied with him.
