With all of the hundreds and thousands of decent influential people that are worthy of being honored, more and more California communities are succumbing to the pressures of a perverse few to honor a man who is only worthy of jail and condemnation.
By California standards, Orange County is considered to be a fairly conservative county. However, that is about to change. The county board of supervisors recently voted to give official recognition to Harvey Milk Day. It became an official state holiday in 2009.
Harvey Milk was a flaming homosexual who was well known for his sexual exploits with young teenagers as well as with multiple sex partners all at the same time. His climb into San Francisco politics was made with many lies, of which he justified by displaying his success in becoming the city supervisor. Milk was gunned down in 1978 and has since become a martyred hero of the gay rights movement.
Christian and pro-family groups in California are speaking out against the action taken by the Orange County Board of Supervisors. When the bill to establish Harvey Milk Day was introduced into the state legislature back in 2009, SaveCalifornia.com posted:
“Under SB 572, children would perform ‘suitable commemorative exercises,’ remembering the ‘life,’ ‘accomplishments,’ and ‘contributions’ of Harvey Milk — in other words, the entire homosexual-bisexual-transsexual agenda for which Milk advocated. There is no definition or limit to these ‘exercises,’ which could include gay pride parades, cross-dressing contests and mock gay weddings, or anything else Milk supported.”
“According to the reputable biography, ‘The Mayor of Castro Street: The Life and Times of Harvey Milk,’ Harvey Milk repeatedly engaged in adult-child sex, advocated for polygamous homosexual relationships, and told a very public lie because he thought it would get him ahead. Since SB 572 would do ‘excerises remembering the life of Harvey Milk,’ kids could be taught to support and emulate these very bad values.”
“SB 572 would affect children as young as kindergarten. There is no parental notification or consent written into the bill.”
Dr. Gary Cass, President and CEO of DefendChristians.org commented about Orange County’s approval of Harvey Milk Day saying:
“The whole Harvey Milk mythology that surrounds all that took place up there is a travesty. Nobody wants to hear the real history. It’s really quite salacious and certainly nothing that we should be teaching our children about.”
If Californians want to honor someone who made positive contribution to California history, then why honor someone like Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo, the first European to explore the state or Sebastian Vizcaino who first mapped the California Coast? Or what about William B. Ide, the only person to hold the position of President of the California Republic in the 1846 revolt against Mexico? What about the men and women who settled in the state and started the first businesses, schools, railroads and farms?
There are many people that deserve being honored for helping to make the state a great and prosperous place. But to honor a sexual pervert, deviate and pedophile is obscene and offensive. I find it no different than honoring Satan instead of Jesus Christ, or honoring Charles Manson instead of the peaceful efforts of Martin Luther King Jr.
