Despite the disgusting support from the media, the White House, and politicians, Planned Parenthood donors are starting to abandon the organization.
It is a common story: a man pretends to be a god and gets worshiped by the ignorant. He is seen as all powerful. But at some point, perhaps he gets cut and bleeds in public. And at that point the ruse is ended. The people are outraged at being swindled and set upon their former “god.” They know if he bleeds he is merely mortal. He is not a god.
If I recall, there was also a famous scene in Rocky IV where Rocky remained in the ring with a Russian steroidal giant of a man. Eventually, Rocky finally made him bleed. During the next break his coach yells to Rocky that the fact that he bleeds means he is just a man who can be beaten. In the meantime, the Russian is sitting at the other corner confessing to his coach that Rocky is not a man but a piece of steel. (This is all according to my memory from seeing the movie in college.)
We are at that point now with Planned Parenthood. We should have known that we were getting to this point when Planned Parenthood removed their donor list from their website.
They didn’t want us to be able to see them bleed.
But they are bleeding. I missed the news until Young Conservatives pointed it out. Life Site News has reported, “American Express and American Cancer Society: We No Longer Donate to Planned Parenthood.”
Now, another company and a large nonprofit group are joining the list — saying they last donated to Planned Parenthood many years ago and no longer do so: American Express and the American Cancer Society.
Officials with both companies contacted the Daily Signal and told the publication about the cessation of donations to Planned Parenthood:
American Express: “American Express last contributed to two Planned Parenthood community projects more than fifteen years ago. One project provided services to teens such as computer workshops, job preparation, mentoring, recreation and counseling. The other supported adult volunteers working with at-risk adolescents in a local school district.”
The American Cancer Society: “The American Cancer Society does not fund grants to Planned Parenthood affiliates. We have previously funded a very limited number of cancer control grants to Planned Parenthood affiliates to implement cancer control programs, such as training clinic staff to screen patients for smoking, providing patients the benefits of quitting smoking, and referring patients to a toll-free smoking cessation helpline. These grants expired several years ago. The American Cancer Society does not fund—nor has it ever funded—abortion or contraceptive counseling.”
First of all, all that money, even if designated to a good cause, assists Planned Parenthood’s bottom line. Whenever they get funding for those PR efforts posing as an example of their good will, Planned Parenthood has more money to spend on abortion and to profit from organ harvesting. People need to give to such causes when they are performed by people who aren’t the moral equivalent of Hannibal Lector.
Secondly, all your efforts are working. On email, on Twitter, on Facebook, on the comments sections of media stories, your work is making a different. We are truly in a “Horton Hears a Who” situation where we are both in the role of Horton, insisting that a person is a person no matter how small, and of all the Whos in Whoville who must make as much noise as possible to force the powerful to hear us.
And it is working. Obama can’t protect Planned Parenthood, nor can the media. We can slay this giant. It is not a god. It is merely demon-possessed men and women.
One other note: Don’t forget that this organization is being threatened by the hard work and brilliant strategy of a Millennial. Planned Parenthood has more blue-hairs than ever before and they are screaming at the kids to get off their blood-soaked lawn.
They really are going down. It is beautiful to watch.
