From the Indy Star:
FBI agents Wednesday seized “thousands” of cultural artifacts, including American Indian items, from the private collection of a 91-year-old Rush County man who had acquired them over the past eight decades.
An FBI command vehicle and several tents were spotted at the property in rural Waldron, about 35 miles southeast of Indianapolis.
The man, Don Miller, has not been arrested or charged.
The objects were not stored to museum standards, Jones said, but it was apparent Miller had made an effort to maintain them well.
The aim of the investigation is to determine what each artifact is, where it came from and how Miller obtained it, Jones said, to determine whether some of the items might be illegal to possess privately.
Jones acknowledged that Miller might have acquired some of the items before the passage of U.S. laws or treaties prohibited their sale or purchase.
The FBI and its partners might have a daunting task determining the origins and provenance of all of the items, Thom predicted.
“It may be 30 years — or never — before they have it all cataloged.
This is ludicrous. This is wrong. This should not be tolerated.
“We don’t know if a crime has been committed. We have no evidence there’s a problem. It may take us 30 years or more to figure it out, but we’re proud to say our jackboots have followed orders, invaded a family’s home and seized personal property, and… by golly… aren’t we powerful and important?!?” –FBI Spokesman.
Meanwhile, we know crimes have been committed by the IRS and BATFE in discriminating against American citizens, and in providing weapons for the murder of countless innocents in Mexico, and along the Southern border of the United States. But let’s not devote any resources to actual crime! Let’s oppress people without a shred of just cause, and steal their possessions!
This is another example of why so many in the government support gun control. There’s an old saying that “criminals prefer unarmed victims.” As government more and more *becomes* criminal, they will want to ensure we cannot resist their efforts.
We are at a tipping-point. Actions like this demonstrate that no one is safe. If thugs with badges and guns can invade your home, steal your property, while clearly and explicitly saying you may not get it back for 30 years or more–admitting they have no idea or evidence whether any crime is involved–you know you’ve passed some dangerous milestones in your culture’s history.
Yep, change has come to America.
