More Junk Science for Gun Control

A study claiming to prove that Connecticut background check reduced the gun homicide rate by forty percent is junk science. Well, if the FBI can do it for the cause of disarming the populace, others can produce junk science too. One recent study has claimed to “prove” that Connecticut’s background check established in 1995 lowered the murder rate from firearms by forty percent. The blog mentions five problems with the study. I thought the first one really showed how arbitrary Read more […]

A State Senate Wants Drone Use to Require a Warrant

In Connecticut the state senate thinks the Fourth-Amendment-type rules should apply to drone use. Not every issue is cleared up by the Constitution. While the Fourth Amendment states that we should be secure in our persons, property, and effects, etc, it doesn’t limit government agents on public property. If I drive from my house to the grocery store, the Fourth Amendment doesn’t necessarily apply to a decision by a police officer to follow me for whatever reason. That’s why drone use Read more […]

The Obama Recovery: One Fourth Connecticut Households Struggling

The myth of the Obama recovery is still being pushed on a populace that knows better. We constantly hear Democrats pretend that Obama has accomplished some great things for the U.S. economy. Such insane ravings deserve to be mocked. The Connecticut United Way recently published more evidence that these claims are crazy, saying that about twenty-five percent of the state’s households are above the poverty line but are still barely able to make ends meet. Transex Dystopia in CT: Young Men Pretending to Be Girls Can Be Dangerous!

Yesterday I heard this NPR report and it upset and disgusted me. The headline was interesting: “When States Can’t Control Violent Youth, Is Prison The Answer?” More than 4,000 children are in the custody of Connecticut’s Department of Children and Families. But it’s one girl, known as Jane Doe, who has galvanized advocates for juvenile justice reform and LGBT youth. Last month, a Connecticut judge approved a rare request from the state’s child welfare agency: to move the 16-year-old transgender Read more […]

State Retirement Funds Are Scams to Rip Off Struggling Workers

Why is Detroit bankrupt? Why is San Bernardino following in Detroit’s footsteps? Why is Illinois descending into financial crisis? In these cases, and in many other states, the answer is their pensions. They are supposed to pay up to retirees but they never properly managed the money. They have no way of paying what they owe now or in the near future except by direct taxation on current residents. Note that all of this is somehow legal. No one ever goes to jail for it. People pay into Read more […]

Justina Pelletier Is Still Held Captive by the Government-Medical Complex

Howie Carr of WRKO interviewed Justina Pelletier’s father, Lou. When I wrote about this story back in February (and followed up a few days later) I never imagined this farce could continue.  But it has continued. Scott Lazarowitz at the  blog makes several observations about this interview: My immediate take after hearing the interview: 1. The “doctors” really are, in my view, religiously devoted to their ideology of “somatoform disorder” and “behavior modification,” Read more […]

Connecticut Bill Mandates Only Unhealthy Milk for Childcare

Back in February I heard a great story on NPR that I wanted to share with as wide an audience as possible. But I didn’t post it here on Political Outcast because this is a political blog. My interest in health research is not really an appropriate topic. The NPR story was about whole milk. “The Full-Fat Paradox: Whole Milk May Keep Us Lean.” The reason we’re told to limit dairy fat seems pretty straightforward. The extra calories packed into the fat are bad for our waistlines — that’s the Read more […]

Gun Control Resistance Done Right: Let Rulers Know They Had Better Have an Appetite for Enforcement

The old “New Left” slogan was “What if they had a war and nobody came?” The new Right question should be: What if they passed a law and no one complied? In Vermont, the legislature voted on three new laws about firearms. They banned concealed carry in bars and restaurants, authorized police to confiscate all guns any time they are called to a domestic dispute, and mandated that guns at home be locked up. Of the three, authorizing the police to confiscate the guns is the most evil. As far as Read more […]

Because We Can Never Have Enough Laws, CT Might Limit Loudness In Movie Theaters

What I hate most about this story, is Newser’s implicit assumption that all states will start doing this eventually. “Connecticut could become the first state to curb loud movies.” Only if others follow their stupid example. In the meantime, I would prefer that we assume the best and say, “Connecticut might become the only state to curb loud movies, but hopefully not.” The legislature’s Public Safety and Security Committee is considering the bill, which would prevent theaters from showing Read more […]

“Ma’am, it sounds like you’re anti-American…” What Is Planned For CT Gun Resistors?

Admittedly, Vance was in a corner, but it was one of his own making. The Connecticut Legislature has made thousands of formerly legal gun owners into Class D felons overnight. According to the Washington Examiner, A woman was asking what could happen to her and her husband if he missed the deadline to “register” the “assault weapons” and high-capacity magazines. You will remember Vance from his moments of fame at the Sandy Hook massacre. It offers us a straightforward look at the mindset Read more […]

Applying for Legal Gun Permit? Cops Think that Means You Deserve a SWAT Raid

Do law-abiding gun owners deserve to be the target of Police violence and intimidation? The Ankeny Police Department is so sure the answer is “yes” that they act as if they are justified in the SWAT raid about which Bob Allen posted. If you have not read that post, please do so in order to understand the terrorism and lawlessness inflicted on a household for no reason. Randy Balko quotes a statement from the Ankeny PD:  Ankeny police are defending the raid, saying they needed to use that Read more […]

Connecticut Gun-Grabbers Blame Post Office To Pretend There Is No Second Amendment Rebellion Happening

In some cases, rebellion is an opportunity for the government. Your disobedience provides your political overlord with the excuse he is looking for to stomp you into the ground. But sometimes he really isn’t prepared to take action. While it is true sometimes rebellion is an opportunity for the government, it is also true that sometimes a new law is an opportunity for the people. If you defy the new law and the government is not prepared to take action to stomp you into the ground then they Read more […]
