Dr. Ron Paul’s Diagnosis: Americans Are Driven by Fear

I remember the line from the movie Blade Runner: “Quite an experience to live in fear isn’t it? That’s what it is to be a slave.” But we can also point out that rather than just a description of slavery, living in fear can be a cause of it. I thought of this yesterday while reading Ron Paul’s words: “Are We a Nation of Wimps?” We now live in a society where safety and security are to be sought at all costs. The sacrifice of liberty is not a concern for most Americans today. This is Read more […]

War on Terror Blackmail Used to Push Us into Granting Illegals Citizenship

I am willing to hear arguments for young dependents from other countries being granted refugee status and being raised here to become citizens, but instead we get war on terror blackmail. Can we please stop using stupid nonsense in our political speeches? From the Daily Caller, Democratic State Representative and candidate for U.S. representative Pat Murphy said Tuesday that if the underage migrants who have come to the U.S. from Central America aren’t given a “pathway for citizenship” Read more […]

Another Tale from The Cowardocracy Chronicles: Science Teacher Banned from Classroom

Everyone gets afraid. Everyone has fears. Whether or not one becomes a coward depends on how one learns to deal with fear. I don’t know how Americans are doing as a whole; but “their” institutions enshrine cowardice as a social and political norm. (I use sarcastic quotation marks because I don’t think these institutions are really “ours.” They are over us; that is all.) In the L.A. Times we read about Greg Schiller who once taught classes at Cortines School of Visual & Performing Read more […]

Fear Paralyzes

It seems that we live in dangerous times. There are those who tell us the danger is some people hiding in a cave over in the Middle East that is our gravest danger, but there is another line of thinking that reveals we have a greater danger right here on our own shores. Consider what is happening in the State of Connecticut. The Connecticut legislature passed a gun registration law. History clearly teaches us that registration is the first step to confiscation. So it is no surprise to see Read more […]

Wake Up, Blacks! Whitey’s Out To Getcha!

One of the many reasons the George Zimmerman trial is still of so much interest to conservatives, even though it concluded almost a week ago, is because conservatives are mostly white and they—and I include myself in this—are tired of being shamed for it. The Hispanic Zimmerman was labeled a white person by the media, thus indicting whites all over for the racism allegedly at the root of why Zimmerman shot a young man who was trying to kill him. Had the media instead exercised such irresponsibility Read more […]

Liberal Hysteria: Monsanto’s Coming To Kill Us All!

Monsanto, the company that genetically modifies food seeds, is not a subject that really moves me one way or another, but the fervor surrounding it does move me into wanting to support Monsanto instinctively. I think much of the fear over GMOs (genetically modified organisms, the organism in this case being food) is only as deep as the term “genetically modified.” “Genetically modified” is a term that can be heard in many a sci-fi/horror movie about science-lab experiments gone awry, resulting Read more […]

Teachers Shocked By Surprise School Shooting Drill

A charter school in the small town of Halfway, Oregon was shocked by an unannounced “active shooter” drill that involved two masked “gunmen” entering a meeting room and shooting 13 of the 15 occupants. After a few seconds, the teachers realized that it was only a drill, because none of them were bleeding. It was all a part of a drill put on by the Union County Police Department. The shooters were actually members of the school staff who had dressed in hoodies and masks and fired blanks Read more […]

The Uniquely American Fear of Strangers

In his fascinating book, The Kindness of Strangers: Penniless Across America, author Mike McIntyre makes this humbling observation: There was a time in this country when you were a jerk if you passed somebody in need. Now you’re a fool for helping. Gangs, drugs, murderers, rapists, thieves, carjackers. Why risk it? I Don’t Want to Get Involved has become a national motto. Not only a national motto; it’s a national tragedy. Mike knows of what he speaks: he used to be the guy that wouldn’t Read more […]
