Ron Paul on the Ebola Scam: $1.4 billion

The Ebola scam meant over a billion dollars in spending. What was that money used to do? How did it help? If you have ten minutes, you might find Ron Paul’s review of what happened with American intervention in the Ebola crisis quite enlightening. [See also, “Ebola Is Not a Reason for Increased Centralized Power.”] If you don’t have time, I can give you the punch line from the text accompanying the video: Remember last year’s panic about Ebola? USAID spent $1.4 billion constructing Read more […]

The NASA Tower of Foolishness

The NASA tower was built and then mothballed, never used. Jesus once told a parable: For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it? Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, saying, “This man began to build and was not able to finish.” (Luke 14:28-30 ESV). What does this have to do with NASA? The agency decided to build a tower and finish it, even Read more […]

Pentagon Incompetence on Display (but We Can Totally Trust Them to Lead Us into Middle East War)

Sometimes Pentagon incompetence can take such bizarre forms it is difficult to know what to say about it. For example, the Pentagon hired a contractor to evaluate the education they were paying for their servicemen and -women to use, and the contractor was never required to produce any useful information! The Daily Caller reports, The GAO’s report, politely titled “Action Is Needed to Ensure Evaluations of Postsecondary Schools Are Useful,” explains that the evaluations “did not provide Read more […]

Federal Employees Being Paid Millions To Do Nothing

If I did nothing, I would lose my job. I’m sure the same goes for most people in the private sector. That’s the whole idea behind employment. Someone needs a job done, you do the job requested and you get compensated for your work. I suppose if I did find myself without a job, I could always find a position in the federal government. They don’t usually fire people for not working, as Senator Tom Coburn is finding out. He’s been doing a lot of research recently into government waste, a Read more […]

Force Across the Board Spending Cuts Now!

President Obama wants more tax money. He’s claiming that without new revenue parts of the government will be shut down or at least scaled back. Would this be a bad thing? Would anybody outside of government notice? According to some “experts,” there would be $46 billion cut from the Defense Department and benefit cuts for 4.7 million long-term unemployed. The FBI says the budget cuts would require all employees, including special agents, to be furloughed for up to 14 days. Force our bloated Read more […]

DHS: Sno-Cone Machines Are Counter-Terrorism Measures

As a member of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, Senator Tom Coburn has been exposing massive waste in the defense department. In a recent report, he focused on the Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) grants given to cities by Homeland Security. In his report, he wrote:  “If in the days after 9/11 lawmakers were able to cast their gaze forward ten years, I imagine they would be surprised to see how a counter-terrorism initiative aimed at protecting our largest cities Read more […]
