Toni Morrison Is an Ignorant Psycho

Toni Morrison says she wants “to see a cop shoot a white unarmed teenager.” Ed Krayewski at Reason.com says that this is “borderline sociopathic.” Drop the first word and then I will agree. He quotes from Toni Morrison’s interview at the Telegraph: I want to see a cop shoot a white unarmed teenager in the back,” Morrison says finally. “And I want to see a white man convicted for raping a black woman. Then when you ask me, ‘Is it [racism] over?’, I will say yes.” That anyone could Read more […]

Will We Be Ignorant or Free?

You have to choose: ignorant or free. “Anyone who desires to be ignorant and free, desires what never was and never will be.” Let me quote Thomas Jefferson again, “Anyone who desires to be ignorant and free, desires what never was and never will be.” When Jefferson, the principle author of the American Declaration of Independence, wrote these words, he was expressing a truth that relatively few Americans appreciate today. The People of Seattle Elected a Kleptomaniac for City Council and Deserve What They Get

The New American reports, Monday’s announcement that the Seattle City Council had voted 9-0 to raise the city’s minimum wage to $15 an hour was much more about advancing a political agenda than about improving economic conditions of the working poor. City Councilman Nick Licata insisted, “By significantly raising the minimum wage, Seattle’s prosperity will be shared by more people and create a sustainable Read more […]

Another Tale from The Cowardocracy Chronicles: Science Teacher Banned from Classroom

Everyone gets afraid. Everyone has fears. Whether or not one becomes a coward depends on how one learns to deal with fear. I don’t know how Americans are doing as a whole; but “their” institutions enshrine cowardice as a social and political norm. (I use sarcastic quotation marks because I don’t think these institutions are really “ours.” They are over us; that is all.) In the L.A. Times we read about Greg Schiller who once taught classes at Cortines School of Visual & Performing Read more […]

Study: People Who Pay More Taxes Are Happier

There’s a German study that was published that will likely find its way to U.S. Democrats and some Republicans. It claims to have found that people who pay more taxes are happier than those who pay less. The research spanned 26 years, during which time 25,000 Germans were asked the question, “How satisfied are you with your life, all things considered?” The demographics tied to each respondent’s answer were things such as income, age, education and other variables. The research concluded Read more […]

The War on Halloween

Following in the tradition of redefining and sanitizing holidays, some government schools are setting their anti-celebration sights on Halloween. First it was Thanksgiving, then it was Christmas; it was only a matter of time before Halloween got targeted. A school district superintendent in Illinois states the reason plainly: “There will be no costumes, no candy bags and no parties. Many students cannot afford costumes and there is an economic disparity. We also have students that are unable to Read more […]
