The Turn Away from God means Idolizing Government

We are idolizing government and building fascism into our nation; the problem is spiritual. Throughout Barack Obama’s Presidency many have accused him of supporting Socialism. Of course, given the historical and dictionary definition of the term, that is not accurate—government has not taken legal ownership of the means of production. Effectively, however, government has taken increasing control through regulation. I found a recent article by Norbert Michel at really insightful: Read more […]

Does Every Parental Mistake Warrant a Trial Date?

As policing parents goes, or criminalizing a parental mistake, this story is not horrific. This is nothing compared to taking a single mom’s daughter away from her and trying to put her in jail because she let her daughter play at the park. In this case the woman has not lost custody. She was simply charged to appear in court. But I still have questions about the role of the police in this incident. A Policeman Shows He Is a True Peace Officer

More Andy Griffith, less Rambo. Kudos to Officer Gaetano Acerra of Sumter, SC… well done. From A Sumter, S.C. police officer recently went above and beyond the call of duty for a 13-year-old boy. Officer Gaetano Acerra responded to the call and tried to talk to him. “I said, ‘You have it good, you have a roof Read more […]

Gays, Boy Scouts, and Ignorant Journalists

The media are in a full court press to get the Boy Scouts to allow homosexual scoutmasters. Some of their arguments are downright idiotic, inconsistent, and show a lack of proper analogy. Trying to compare racial discrimination to sexual behavior is an insult to those who struggled long and hard to obtain full civil rights, and a number of blacks are disturbed with the comparison. The most recent foray into journalistic malfeasance was committed by Soledad O’Brien of CNN. She was interviewing Read more […]

Daniel Darling, the senior pastor of Gages Lake Bible Church in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, is saying that some people might think that as Christians “we love our guns more than our neighbors.” Pastor Darling is not saying that keeping and bearing arms is sinful, he is saying that we should put our emphasis elsewhere. We can love our neighbors and be “wise as serpents and gentle as doves” (Matt. 10:16) at the same time. I understand Pastor’s Darling’s concerns, but I think he is missing Read more […]
