Because We Can Never Have Enough Laws, CT Might Limit Loudness In Movie Theaters

What I hate most about this story, is Newser’s implicit assumption that all states will start doing this eventually. “Connecticut could become the first state to curb loud movies.” Only if others follow their stupid example. In the meantime, I would prefer that we assume the best and say, “Connecticut might become the only state to curb loud movies, but hopefully not.” The legislature’s Public Safety and Security Committee is considering the bill, which would prevent theaters from showing Read more […]

Hollywood Anti-Gun Boasting Is Compensation For Cultural Impotence

Oh, I’m sure NRA-members everywhere are sooooo scared. From the Washington Times: Movie producer Harvey Weinstein announced for the first time on Howard Stern’s radio show that he is making a full feature drama to try to destroy the National Rifle Association. Mr. Stern asked Mr. Weinstein on Wednesday whether he owned a gun. The Hollywood heavyweight replied that he did not and never would. “I don’t think we need guns in this country. Flooding the Country with Ignorance

Maybe it was a challenge to see how many non-truths he could pack into one article, but Eric D. Snider’s diatribe about guns in movies at the Film.com website is filled with them. Of course, I never miss the opportunity to be informed about the American gun culture by a “prolific film critic,” especially when that same critic believes that the NRA (National Rifle Association) is dedicated to “flooding the country with guns.” And this comes in the very first paragraph. I knew I was in for Read more […]

Watching the World Burn

Once again, the Batman has created a controversy. This time, however, the reality is hitting too close to home. Early this morning, at a midnight premiere of the final film in Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy in Aurora, Colorado, an apparently lone gunman opened fire on the audience, killing 12 and injuring 38 others. Eyewitnesses said they were confused at first, thinking the gunshot sounds were a part of the onscreen action. Once viewers began scrambling and screaming though, it became  obvious Read more […]
