The NSA Is Making Us Enemies Everywhere

From the New York Times: Secret documents reveal more than 1,000 targets of American and British surveillance in recent years, including the office of an Israeli prime minister, heads of international aid organizations, foreign energy companies and a European Union official involved in antitrust battles with American technology businesses. While the names of some political and diplomatic leaders have previously emerged as targets, the newly disclosed intelligence documents provide a much fuller Read more […]

How Can Any German Be Sure Merkel Wasn’t Blackmailed By NSA? What About Americans?

As Americans, if Merkel was forced to do the right thing by US blackmail, we might be OK with that. But we need to think in the long term. Germans, whatever their faults or virtues, do not want their elected leaders to be the puppets of a foreign government. And, if they think a foreign government has control of their leader, then peace between those two countries is going to degrade. I have no evidence that the US ever blackmailed any leader, but yesterday the New York Times released a story Read more […]

Obama/NSA Has Turned “War On Terror” Into Cold War On Everyone

I don’t know if I should blame Obama or the NSA because they are fighting with each other over whether or not Obama even knew about the spy programs. Someone needs to tell the Nobel Peace Prize winner that it begins in one’s own house before you get to spread peace over the planet. But what have they spread over the planet? When Obama ran for President in 2008, Neocons and some genuine patriots accused him of being too soft on Russia. Obama snorted that the Cold War was over. But it isn’t Read more […]

Spying & Obama’s Specialty: Throwing Under Bus…

From the LA Times: WASHINGTON — The White House and State Department signed off on surveillance targeting phone conversations of friendly foreign leaders, current and former U.S. intelligence officials said Monday, pushing back against assertions that President Obama and his aides were unaware of the high-level eavesdropping. Professional staff members at the National Security Agency and other U.S. intelligence agencies are angry, these officials say, believing the president has cast them adrift Read more […]

Barack Obama Knew Nothing About Spying On World Leaders; So Who Is President?

Though the German press reported that Obama gave permission to the NSA in 2010 to continue spying on Angela Merkel, Obama is denying the story. US officials are claiming that he didn’t know anything about the NSA’s spying on heads of state until recently. In the midst of the controversy over U.S. surveillance this summer, top intelligence officials held a briefing for President Obama at the White House – one that would provide him with a broad inventory of programs being carried out by the Read more […]

The Nobel Peace Prize Winner Himself Approved Tapping Angela Merkel’s Phone (Postscript)

Well, now that we’ve heard the denials that President Barack Obama was directly involved in hacking German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s phone, new facts, as they say, “have come to light.” President Barack Obama was dragged into the trans-Atlantic spying row after it was claimed he personally authorised the monitoring of Angela Merkel’s phone three years ago. The president allegedly allowed US intelligence to listen to calls from the German Chancellor’s mobile phone after he was briefed Read more […]

NSA Sypymaster: We Need a Way to Violate First Amendment

Some blog called “Armed With Science” decided to be a propaganda mouthpiece for the NSA for at least one post (perhaps that’s the blogs regular shtick; with a .mil domain, that wouldn’t surprise me). They interviewed General Keith Alexander and let him tell us whatever least untruthful statements he could devise. “We [the NSA] collect foreign intelligence for our country, and we provide information assurance for national security systems,” Gen. Alexander says.  “We have two great Read more […]

DHS Raid For Firearms Used To Confiscate Journalist’s Private Notes

Daily Caller is reporting that a freelance journalist had her private notes taken by police in a raid allegedly caused by suspicions about her husband and firearms. In an interview with The Daily Caller, journalist Audrey Hudson revealed that the Department of Homeland Security and Maryland State Police were involved in a predawn raid of her Shady Side, Md. home on Aug. 6. Hudson is a former Washington Times reporter and current freelance reporter. A search warrant obtained by TheDC indicates that Read more […]

National Security Agency Makes Us More Hated Abroad

Despite constitutional protections, the NSA can spy on us and violate our rights with impunity. Face it. We’re outnumbered. Every time you see Keith Alexander dressed up in his General costume as director of the National Security Agency, he is reminding you that his friends have weapons that could easily kill you and your family. On the other hand, the presidents of Mexico and the people of France don’t have any Constitutional protections against the US Government spying on them. But they, Read more […]

Did Defense Money Buy NSA Votes?

When the House recently defeated a bill to cut funding for the NSA’s national telephone-snooping program with a vote of 217-205, it was an example of the triumph of private money over public good. A Berkeley-based nonprofit called MapLight analyzed the vote and compared it with political donations to House members at the request of Wired. The analysis found that the 217 House members who voted against cutting NSA funding, both Republican and Democrat, had received on average 122 percent more Read more […]

Add Snail Mail to Government Spying

Many Americans seemed outraged and violated when they learned that our government had been spying on our all of our phone calls and emails.  If that wasn’t enough, we learned that they have also been spying on our Internet usage, monitoring the sights we visit and our online transactions. In today’s electronic age, the government was using all of the technology they had to spy on Americans.  Nothing electronic was safe from federal prying eyes.  I know of some people who insist on using Read more […]

IRS Orders Coffee Trays With Hidden Cameras

The news is replete with headlines about our government snooping and spying on Americans. We’re all being watched in some way or another. It kind of reminds me of that Simon and Garfunkel song “America,” where he sings, “The man in the gabardine suit is a spy. I said, ‘Be careful; his bowtie is really a camera.’” It’s not just NSA that’s keeping tabs on everybody. Apparently, James Bond-style coffee trays are in demand by the IRS. And they need them immediately. What in the Read more […]
