Zero Tolerance–Teachers and School Officials Need to Get Thicker Skin

When I read this story, I kept wondering if it was real.  It is so outrageous and ridiculous and crazy and . . .   You get the idea.  There just aren’t enough words to express how incredible this situation is. But it is real.  Here is the report from WTVR CBS 6 News:  A 14-year old girl could be charged with assault and battery after she threw a baby carrot at one of her former teachers. School disciplinary documents allege a baby carrot was used as a weapon in an assault and battery of Read more […]

With Every Shooting, a New Spokesperson for Gun Control is Born

The shooting of reporter Allison Parker and her cameraman Adam Ward in August shook her Virginia community and the nation.  No matter what your position is on the gun control issue, senseless murder is always a horrible tragedy.  Every tragic shooting leaves behind grieving family members, and more often than not, those family members become spokespersons for the gun control lobby. In the case of the shooting of Allison Parker and Adam Ward, that person is Allison’s father, Andy Parker.  Last Read more […]

A Gay, Black ‘Victim’ Shoots Two Straight, White Co-Workers Live on News

A homosexual, African-American former TV journalist who had been fired from his job two years ago took his revenge on two white co-workers Wednesday, live on the news. The two victims, WDBJ-TV reporter Alison Parker and cameraman Adam Ward, were reporting live on a feature story from a local waterfront building complex when suddenly multiple shots were fired, striking Parker as she fled and knocking over Ward, whose camera continued to record before the feed was returned to the television studio, Read more […]

Does the War on Drugs Turn Adults into Monsters?

When you suspend a student for a year for NOT possessing or using drugs, you have allowed the war on drugs to make you insane and dangerous. We keep getting more and more bizarre stories about how public schools act when students are accused of possession or use of drugs. For example, when a school came into possession of a student’s private journal, and read it, and found she wrote that she had used marijuana, I thought their response was insane and possibly criminal. But at least in that case, Read more […]

Not Face of a Rapist; Face of a Hero

Where will you find the face of a hero? In prison facing life incarceration for refusing to lie. I know this is not exactly a political post. Or maybe it is slightly. The idea that people who are convicted of a crime and completely serve their sentence can still be incarcerated forever for refusing to agree that they are guilty seems insane. We are bombarded with news about people who were executed or faced execution on a false verdict. While those get all the attention, the problems aren’t Read more […]

Nazi America: Our Recent Eugenic Past makes the News

Why Nazi America? As late as 1979, people were forcibly sterilized according to state eugenics laws.   I was alive and conscious in 1979. It was the age of trucker songs and I associate the time with a lot of roller skating (perhaps that was just me). I remember an obsession with the music of the forties and fifties as some kind of golden age—which I now recognize as the equivalent of my own nostalgia for music from the eighties. But I don’t remember ever being aware that we Read more […]

Virginia is Voting on Calling for a Convention of States

An Article V Convention of States may be the only way to stop Federal power grabs. (Editor’s Note: I think the question of calling for a convention of the states is controversial among conservatives. Bob Allen is a strong advocate of this process. We’d like to read what you think. Please leave us a comment.) Opposition continues, but it really does appear the Article V Convention of States movement is gaining steam. (Note: much of the opposition rooted in anonymous posters, and/or disingenuous Read more […]

School Claims Right to Question Homeschooled Students

The school board wants to question homeschooled students about their religious beliefs. In the United States parents have received a letter demanding that their fourteen-year-old submit their own written statement to the directors of a government entity to explain their religious beliefs. They were also warned that, if the bureaucrats were not satisfied, they could call them to appear to give a personal account and be questioned. This really happened in Virginia, though I don’t understand Read more […]

Is Race Politics Corrupting Justice?

Eric Holder takes race politics to a new low when he refuses to allow the death penalty for a black-on-white murder. Some of us really don’t care about the color of skin involved. A human is a human is a human, no matter the age, the color, or the position in the community. That said, this is a terrible time for those who believe in “blind” justice, and fair-dealing and truth in all things. Here’s an example from Allen West who compares the story to what is going on in Ferguson: “Blatant Read more […]

The Reign of Fear: What It Means That Ex-Employee Claims He Was Fired for Reporting Deputy’s Theft

All we have in this Washington Post story are conflicting claims. Nothing has gone to court yet. Nothing has been adjudicated. But, in my opinion, the man who was fired from Target is telling what every single reader will acknowledge is a plausible story. So, whether or not it really happened, the fact that we live in a society that finds this story plausible tells us something about the society we live in. The spokeswoman for the Target store in Leesburg, Virginia claims that former loss prevention Read more […]

Manassas City Police Back Down on “Chemical Erection Warrant” But Prosecutor Still Abusing the Law

As you may know, the Manassas City Police were issued a warrant to induce an erection (via some kind of injection, hopefully) in a seventeen-year-old boy so they could photograph his private part and thus prove that the picture he sent his fifteen-year-old girlfriend was really his. Now the Washington Post reports that they are backing off, but this is not really that significant. It is true (and good as far as it goes) that the police have been shamed by the media attention they have received Read more […]

Manassas City, Virginia: Welcome to the Porn Police State

According to the Washington Post, the cops want to force a seventeen-year-old to have an erection and then photograph his aroused genitals. They want to do this because they suspect that the seventeen-year-old took a picture of his erection and sent it to his girlfriend via texting—“sexting” as it is now called. A judge actually granted that warrant, though it has not yet been executed. I really don’t know what to write about this barking-lunatic pretense of “law enforcement.” I Read more […]
