We were told last week that the greatest threat to our wellbeing today is some new Mohamedean group ISIS who is ravaging the Middle East. We have also been advised that the best security is for us to go to war against this new threat. So last Wednesday the imposter essentially declared war against ISIS.
We have been told that we will lead a sustained bombing campaign against ISIS targets in Iraq and Syria. Administration officials acknowledge that this could last for several years. The imposter requested Congressional approval for hundreds of millions of dollars to train and equip “moderate”Syrian rebels, and although he promised no boots on the ground, he actually committed to send U.S. troops to “advise”Iraqi security forces. How is that no boots on the ground? He made all kinds of promises in that speech that I consider doubtful of fulfillment given his record of mendacity.
It seems to me that the same old song and dance is being played before us as we are being told our greatest security lies in fomenting another war with another group of people half way around the world. Is that really the case? Is the greatest threat to our security another group of idolaters who worship the moon? You heard correctly, Allah is the moon idol, the only one Mohamed preserved of the 300 plus idols of Mecca. That is why the crescent moon is their symbol.
I contend that the greatest threat to our security is not these idolaters who worship the moon idol, it is the One True God. The great concern with external terrorism is a sleight of hand. There is a greater threat from within, a terror threat resulting from our assault against a Holy and Omnipotent God, the Only One True God, the God of the Bible. We are witnessing the rapid deterioration of a nation before our very eyes. We have become one nation against God, rather than one nation under God.
Our good friend, Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court Roy Moore, wrote, “While truth and law were founded on the God of all creation, man now, through law, denies the truth and calls it ‘separation.’ No longer does man see a need for God when he’s in full control, for the only truth self-evident is in the latest poll. But with man as his own master we fail to count the cost, our precious freedoms vanish and our liberty is lost. Children are told they can’t pray in school and they teach them evolution, when will they see the fear of God is the only true solution?”
The roots of the demise in America lie in our understanding and belief about the One True God. A loss of understanding of His Greatness, His Power and above all His Holiness is at the bottom what has gone wrong with America. That fact alone presents the greatest threat to our security and our liberty.
John Brown, Nineteenth-century Scottish theologian “Holiness does not consist in mystic speculations, enthusiastic fervors, or uncommanded austerities; it consists in thinking as God thinks, and willing as God wills” [quoted in J. Bridges, The Pursuit of Holiness, p. 51]. In other words it means to have a Biblical worldview, especially in what we understand about the One True God. Now this encounter of the Children of Israel with God at Mount Sinai has a practical message for us.
Please read Hebrews 12:18-24. There is a distinct difference between what the Children of Israel experienced at Mount Sinai and the saints who come to Christ. The Holiness of God brought death to violators of the boundary around Mount Sinai. It was a terrifying experience they could not endure – it taught them the Holiness of God, such that He could never tolerate sin in His presence. There was death in the wilderness to all who violated God’s Law.
We have come to a different Mountain in Jesus Christ. The Mount describe here is the New Jerusalem, the city of the Great King of Kings, King Jesus. We have come to Jesus the Mediator of a New Covenant. His blood completely atoned for our sin. His righteousness became our covering, therefore we can come into God’s presence in prayer, in worship and fellowship and instruction in His Word and not be struck down, not put instantly to death.
As a Christian the current of the world is against you if you are resolved to follow God. It is a very strong current that you must swim against. A current of wickedness, immorality, blatant and not so blatant sin. To overcome it we must immerse ourselves in God’s Word, in Worship and Prayer, in Fellowship and Witness as we “Pursue…holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.” (Hebrews 12:14).
