Will Michelle Obama Tell You What You Can Feed Your Children?

I’m amazed that liberals are all about “My body – My choice” until they get into power. Then they want to dictate what we can eat and drink.

It’s one thing to recommend what we should eat, but it’s another thing to pass laws to force us to eat in a particular way. Then there’s the problem of what the government-controlled food policies say we should eat. The government has been pushing a low fat diet for decades. And what have been the results? More fat people.

In an attempt to reduce the obesity problem in America, the benevolent dictators in our government have been dictating what young people must eat when they are in a government school:

“Following new federal guidelines, school districts nationwide have retooled their menus to meet new requirements to serve more whole grains, only low-fat or nonfat milk, daily helpings of both fruits and vegetables, and fewer sugary and salty items. And for the first time, federal funds for school lunches mandate age-aligned calorie maximums. The adjustments are part of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 touted by Michelle Obama and use the updated Dietary Guidelines for Americans from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.”

A one-size-fits-all dietary program does not work, especially if a kid has a high metabolism or is an athlete. As a result of the food Gestapo overseeing what goes in a child’s month, students at a number of schools have said “enough.”

“[Last week] 70% of the 830 Mukwonago High students [in Wisconsin] who normally buy lunch boycotted cafeteria food to protest what they see as an unfair ‘one size fits all thing.’ Middle schoolers in the district also boycotted their school lunches, with counts down nearly half Monday. They’re not alone in their frustration; schools across the country are reporting students who are unhappy with the lunch offerings.”

Some of the students are not getting enough calories to last the day. Athletes are especially affected. In order to keep up with the rigors of weight training and sports like football, basketball, wrestling, tennis, and track and field, the prescribed daily calorie allotment is downright dangerous.

When I was in high school, I took extra sandwiches to school to help me gain weight. I lifted weights six days a week and practiced daily for the shot put, discus, and long jump. Today, kids are bigger and stronger than they were four decades ago. I would have lost weight on Michelle Obama’s restrictive calorie diet.

This is what the nation has voted for; a nanny State with a gun that’s in everybody’s business and pockets.

In an interview with Newsweek, Samuel L. Jackson described Michelle Obama as “superwoman” who “can be the president.” Please spare us.

That’s all we need — a meddling superwoman with the power of the government behind her. I could be a “Super” too if I had billions of dollars at my disposal and the Police-State to force my views on people.

I’m not relieved that adjustments have been made to government school menus. Get the government out of our schools altogether. In fact, if you children are in a government school, YOU get them out. They shouldn’t be there.
