A school has planned a field trip to an Islam workshop for student ages eight to eleven. Some parents might have been resistant to the idea. They received a letter from the school explaining the workshop and also explaining how the school would do its best to screw up the life of the child for the rest of his life if they did not permit him or her to attend.
Refusal to allow your child to attend this trip will result in a Racial Discrimination note being attached to your child’s education record, which will remain on this file throughout their career.
The Daily Caller reports:
The headmistress at a primary school in a small town in England tried to order parents to send their children to a Nov. 27 workshop focused on Islam or else have the kids permanently labeled as racists for the rest of their academic careers.
On Wednesday, parents of children aged 8 to 11 received the stark warning in the form of a letter from Lynn Small, the headmistress at Littleton Green Community School in Huntington, Staffordshire — just over 20 miles from Birmingham.
The letter describes the field trip as part of a “statutory requirement” for kids “to learn about different cultures.”
“The workshop is at Staffordshire University and will give your child the opportunity to explore other religions,” Small pedantically explains. “Children will be looking at religious artefacts, similar to those that would be on display in a museum. They will not be partaking in any religious practices.”
It is pretty interesting to me that the children themselves are not the ones making the decision. Yet the headmistress has no problem branding them on the official documents for life. The children get punished for the “sin” of the parent.
Furthermore, if anyone calls in sick or gives some other excuse for their children to skip school that day, she promises to investigate the absence to make sure it isn’t a cover story.
In the movie V, Brits can be punished for possessing a Koran. In real life they can be punished for not exposing their children to one. This isn’t dystopian fiction. It is really happening.
The story does end reasonably well. After the intense responses from parents, local government officials intervened and forced Small to apologize for her threatening letter.
But the story hasn’t ended yet. Those control freaks are always pursuing power. Someday there will be enough of them in places of power that the headmistress will not be stopped.
And you know there are people who will do the same to Americans.
Note also the tools that are used. As more institutions keep permanent records about US citizens they gain the power to ruin reputations and brand someone for life. If we want to limit this kind of abuse we need to work to eliminate these record-keeping institutions as much as possible.
Finally, it is perfectly obvious that this kind of naked coercion and bullying is going to do more to promote racism than to counteract it. If people find they are labeled "racist" for not wanting to expose their child to a religion (which could simply mean they are atheists or Christians or some other non-Muslim), then racism will stop being regarded as a big deal.
