Obamacare an Economic Failure for the Middle Class - USA Today

Naturally the newspaper did not admit that they were telling us that Obamacare is an economic failure. They didn’t mention Obamacare at all. But that is what they ended up saying anyway.

The (hidden) admission occurred under the depressing headline: “7 things the middle class can't afford anymore.”

The middle class has certainly changed. We've ranked a list of things the middle class can no longer really afford. We're not talking about lavish luxuries, like private jets and yachts. The items on this list are a bit more basic, and some of them are even necessities. The ranking of this list is based on affordability and necessity. Therefore, items that are necessity ranked higher, as did items that a larger percentage of people have trouble paying for.

The seven items on the list are:

  • Vacations
  • New vehicles
  • Paying off debt
  • Emergency savings
  • Retirement savings
  • Medical care (!), and
  • Dental work

Here is what is written about medical care:

Medical care is a basic necessity and something we'd think would be affordable for someone earning a middle income. A Forbes article published data indicating that workers in large companies — many of whom are members of the middle class — "face nearly $5,000 in premiums, co-payments, deductibles and other forms of co-insurance."

During the past few years, these costs have had a large impact on working Americans. A report by Feeding America found that a shocking 66% of households say they've had to choose between paying for food and paying for medical care — 31% say they have to make that choice each and every month.

I suppose someone will point out that there is no mention of Obamacare, but isn’t that the point?

[See also, “White House Won’t Reveal 2015 Obamacare Rates Until After Elections.”]

We are now in the second year of the most dramatic Federal intervention in the economy in living memory. This was presented to us as a necessary move to save healthcare and “provide access.”

So why report on medical expenses for the middle class without mentioning the Affordable Care Act?

Obviously, it hasn’t made a positive difference. At the very least, all that legislation is not doing a thing to make medical care more affordable to the Middle Class. (In fact, it is really making medical care more expensive for consumers and causing new fees to be imposed on them.)

So USA Today reports on medical expenses as if Obamacare never happened because, if defined by its promises, it never did happen.

Of course, the other amazing thing about this article is that it reports all this economic bad news without bringing up the current White House regime at all. If a Republican was President right now, I doubt such a report would fail to mention his responsibility. I am sure Obama supporters are still blaming Bush. That excuse is getting old.

Welcome to the Obama economy.

  1. The real news is that doctors are the third leading cause of death killing about 200,000 patients yearly - why doesn't the press talk about that?

Here's the real kicker... “White House Won’t Reveal 2015 Obamacare Rates Until After Elections.” This is the biggest scam the government of the United States has ever put over on its citizenry - with the possible exception of the IRS. Health insurance was a costly burden before Obamacare, but it's much worse now and will keep getting worse as the years go by. We should all do whatever we can to stay healthy and fit.

  3. The signs of the end times are everywhere...

As we witness such things as the spread of globalism, the building of a one-world church, the increase of wickedness, the breakdown of the traditional family, the destruction of that priceless bastion of liberty called America, the normalization of homosexuality, the callous murder of babies, the filthy pop culture, the breathtaking increase in governmental surveillance, we become fearful, uncertain, frustrated, angry, and discouraged, but this is because our minds and hearts are too focused on things of this world rather than things above. Too often we have the same short view that “conservative” unbelievers have rather than the long view that comes from the light of Bible prophecy...

The devil is the god of this world, and his handiwork is evident everywhere, but he is not God and he is not in control of the times and the seasons.

“Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his: And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding” (Dan. 2:20-21).

We should stand in the confidence that the present evil is exceedingly temporary and will soon be cut down............

  4. Still trying to cover for their golden boy but there is only so much you can do to coverup a hot, steaming pile of $817!

Our politicians pass this mandate, that mandate, this cost, and many more, expecting the taxpaying citizens to have the money for their elevated tax rates, welfare doles, and cover those that don't, never a thought about passing so many cost onto them that the money can't be raised by the taxpayers! Tapped out! We have often wondered what happens when the congress instructs IRS to reach out for more money to pay for this and that, donate to gov'ts bogus, wasteful spending inflation, vote buying and it just isn't there anymore or anywhere else unless we borrow like fools, or digitize the money(they say it beats printing) and put it on the taxpayers balance sheet as debt owed. and the payers don't even know where it goes! Way past time to cut spending, gov't size, foolish and wasteful spending, and all mandates of a social nature to a manageable level! It just isn't there anymore, or the middle class taxpayer who bears a huge part of the burden, the middle class just isn't anymore! Guess who's at fault there? We elect lawyers in positions with economic decisions, and in medical fields, Reminisent of soldiers in ebola, or attourney ebola czars, are they nuts! They are lawyers, in practice they spend until its all gone, then raise their rates!~ They do not necessarily understand economics, evidenced by their performance in the field!~They only understand spin and mountains of papers that say, give us more! Wish they would say please, when we do without so they can perform their malfeasance.

  6. I can testify to the rise in Healthcare cost for me...and I'm not middle class. ..borderline poverty actually due to my physical health circumstances. I work, but due to a back problem I am only able to work part time. I was fortunate enough however to find a part time job that offered me Blue Cross insurance. However a few months ago the insurance premiums were going to double from one month to the next, so my employer had to drop insurance on employees. I had no choice except to enroll for Obamacare; I said I never would, but I had no choice. No doubt the plan i could afford was cheaper than my plan was going up to, but more than I had been paying through work.

For my back condition I was getting injections every 3 - 4 months between my L vertebrae. However when I scheduled for my injections I was informed my out of pocket cost for the injections would be $3,000...3 THOUSAND DOLLARS! For what used to cost me a co-pay of $150. I told them i couldn't afford that. The doctors office said i would still have to come for a visit just to keep getting my pain medicines, so i scheduled a visit. I went to the visit and paid the $35 co-pay for an office visit as prescribed by my plan, but then a few weeks later received a bill from them for $169 for the doctors visit...Obamacare didn't even cover my office visit!

My insurance that work provided and paid half of was going up 100%, but my medical cost with Obamacare has increased by 2,000%...TWO THOUSAND PERCENT...OBAMA is the stupidest person on the planet! My Healthcare was supposed to go down!

I was getting the injections in order to be able to stay in the work force, and if not for them i feel i possibly would have already had to fall out of the workforce, but thanks to Obola I'm eventually probably gonna end up on disability because the pain will get so severe I will not be able to stay on my feet for a prolonged period of time! Yea...thank Obola for all of this!
