Another Tragedy Shows the Importance of Gun Ownership

Most people who elect to spend money on lottery tickets and not on gun ownership do just fine, except for the wasted money on lottery tickets. Craigory Burch Jr. and everyone around him probably thought he was luckier than most unarmed lottery players. He won $434,272. But he wasn’t lucky at all. He would have been luckier if he’d never won the money. You know what comes next. After his winnings were announced (all over the local media one can assume) the door of Burch’s residence Read more […]

Bob Dole Would Prefer Donald Trump to Ted Cruz

Donald Trump has obviously benefitted from an anti-politician feeling among Americans. He is perceived as the heroic outsider and the ultimate anti-establishment candidate. Establishment mouthpieces have claimed that he is an existential threat to the Republican Establishment. But maybe Ted Cruz is the anti-establishment President despite a history in government and his status as a Senator. Even Donald Trump seems to affirm that Cruz is more of an outsider by saying that everybody hates him and Read more […]

The Senate Doesn’t Hate Ted Cruz because of His Personality, but His Politics

Maybe “hate” is too strong a word. The issue was raised by Donald Trump and the Washington Times ran a story about it. Donald Trump’s claim that Sen. Ted Cruz is “nasty” and “everybody hates” him in Washington isn’t ringing true with his Senate colleagues, who say he’s a passionate legislator — though they haven’t rushed to embrace the Texan, either. So Trump says they hate Ted Cruz. The thing to keep in mind is that the Washington Times attempts to serve a conservative, Read more […]

Walmart Shuttering 154 Stores in the U.S. after Raising Wages

Here is another example of the great recovery we’ve had under Obama. According to Tribune Media: “Walmart to close 269 stores, 154 in U.S.; 10,000 employees impacted.” Walmart is closing 154 stores in the U.S., the company announced on Friday. As part of a “sharpened focus on portfolio management,” the 154 U.S. closures include 102 of its Walmart Express stores, which were opened during a test that started in 2011. The other closures include 23 Neighborhood Market stores, 12 Supercenters, Read more […]

Paul Ryan Says Obama’s Hits on Trump “Degrades the Presidency,” but Defends Haley

There is no love lost between Paul Ryan and me, but not everything about this interview was bad. In fact, while disagreeing with Trump, he explained one aspect of his rise quite well. “I think people are really nervous. I think people are really anxious. And that’s because they believe that the country as they know it, this American idea — the condition of your birth doesn’t determine the outcome of your life  … so many people are worried that’s leaving us. “People are going to say, I Read more […]

Did Anyone Else Hate Nikki Haley’s Response to… Donald Trump? Ted Cruz?

The speech above was purported to be a response to Barack Obama’s State of the Union message. Hardly. I only bothered to listen to the speech because my Facebook feed yesterday was full of attacks on Ann Coulter for the tweets about Haley’s speech. While I didn’t bother to find out what Coulter wrote (because I don’t really care), I did get curious about Haley’s speech. And, for the record, I have heard nothing but good things about Haley. I certainly liked her more than Trump and, in Read more […]

Obama Touts Iran Nuclear Deal; Iran Takes 10 U.S. Sailors Captive

The real state of the union after seven years of President Obama: an international joke. While Obama tried to get America to hop on board his delusion train one last time during his State of the Union speech Tuesday, the Iranian government seized two U.S. Navy boats that entered Iranian waters and held the crews captive. The Iranian government accused the crews of “snooping” but said it will release them “promptly.” (Update: The sailors were reportedly released this morning.) Older readers Read more […]

Vanity Fair Sees the Spending Binge and Knows Something is Wrong

I wouldn’t often turn to Vanity Fair for real news but the magazine seems to have some insight into our dire financial situation. Here’s a taste: This start to 2016 comes off the worst year for markets since 2008. Hedge funds lost an average of nearly 4 percent in 2015, according to estimates from hedge-fund research firm HFR Inc, as even top fund managers had their most terrible years in history. Billionaire financier George Soros, speaking at an economic forum last week, told an audience that Read more […]

This Is What Happens When the Government Disarms You

This story enrages me. FOX 2 reports: “Horrific playground gang rape has NYPD asking public for help.” Another crime in a gun free zone. New York police are looking for five men who forced a father at gunpoint to leave his daughter behind so they could take turns raping her, according to a press release. The 18-year-old female was with her father at the Osborn Playground in Brooklyn around 9 p.m. Thursday when they were approached by five men, according to a press release from Read more […]

Another Islamic Attack, Another Round of Denials

Philadelphia Police Officer Jesse Hartnett was sitting in his patrol car late Thursday night when a man approached, looking like he was going to ask for directions. Instead, the man, identified as Edward Archer, pulled out a gun that had been stolen from police more than two years ago and opened fire, pumping about a dozen rounds into the driver side window. By some miracle, Hartnett survived despite taking multiple hits and was able to get out of his car and chase after the fleeing suspect, Read more […]

Macy’s: What Recovery?

It is amazing to me thinking about the news in 2008 and comparing it to the news now. The economy was getting ready to crash and the liberal media was hammering Bush and the Republicans in general. The crash that finally came was a huge help to the Democrats with the media operating as their echo chamber. Compare that to what is happening now. AP reports, “Macy’s cutting 4,800 jobs after dismal holiday sales, a harbinger of hard times for retailers.” Macy’s is slashing jobs, a harbinger of hard Read more […]

House Committee: No Funding for New Gun Control

The House Appropriations Committee has warned the Department of Justice that it has no plans to approve funds for President Obama’s latest gun control schemes. House Commerce, Justice, Science and Related Agencies subcommittee Chairman Rep. John Culberson wrote in a terse letter to Attorney General Loretta Lynch that any executive orders on gun control should not be paid for out of already approved funding. “I want to express the committee’s expectation that the Department of Justice will Read more […]
